A great central location for taxis

  • 4 of 5

This apartment is all about the location if you plan to use taxis in Paris. All of our taxi rides were between 5€ and 8€, which is far less than 4€ each to ride the metro. (There were 4 of us, so it was 16€ per metro ride—each way.) A designated taxi stand is only two blocks away. (Make sure you write down the full address of your destination to show the driver unless your French is excellent.) The apartment itself has everything you need, including washing machine soap, paper towels, toilet paper, etc. We thought not having a clothes dryer would be a problem, but we simply hung up our washed (wet) jeans on the towel warmer and a day later, voilà, they were dry like magic. The shower is terrific; three of us showered in a row with enough hot water. The stairs up one level were easy. The building is secured with a code that you enter, the neighborhood is perfectly safe, and it’s also very quiet. Across the street is a grocer and one block away is a decent bakery. The host is kind, thorough, and honest. He taught us about avoiding the wave of industrial food in Paris, and we found it very helpful. We had some spectacular food in Le Marais, and did some fine vintage shopping there all on the same street (Kilo Shop, Kilo Shop Kawaii, and Free‘P’Star). The Marais is fantastic! The Louvre is an easy 15 minute walk; we took taxis everywhere else. We highly recommend going to Versailles on Saturday morning because that’s when they turn on the fountains throughout the garden. Plan to arrive by 9:30am. A few tips about Versailles: 1) Visit the gardens first (before the palace), because everyone else does the opposite. You’ll be able to take beautiful pictures of the fountains without huge crowds in your shots. 2) There are many amazing fountains miles apart, so save your energy for the palace and rent a golf cart to see the gardens. 3) When you get hot, go to the restaurant in the palace (Ore - Ducasse au Château de Versailles) and order fresh sherbet. It’s the best you’ll ever taste, and eating at a restaurant inside the chateau is a special experience. To get to/from the airport we highly recommend using BlackLane if you’re four people with luggage. You can book them via; they’re professional, reliable, and the tip is included. Central Paris is safe. You’ll see police in squads of four patrolling the streets with machine guns, but that’s exactly what helps keep the city safe. We never felt unsafe for one moment in central Paris.

Perfect pied-à-terre -Location, location, location

  • 5 of 5

I really can't say enough about our two weeks in our Parisian pied-à-terre. Our daughters heard of our visit and the sofa-bed and joined us for our 2nd week.

Secure outside door, one short, albeit narrow flight of stairs up to front door with secure bolts. Lots of hooks for coats. The bedroom was great, bathroom was compact but shower was quite big by European standards. We had plenty of hot water for two showers in a row and it didn't even start to cool a little until the third. The window in the bathroom opens to a landing with no view but it was all we needed to air out the steam and had secure bars on the window. The bed was quite comfortable and we were happy to have an American sized queen bed. Plenty of room in the cupboards to store our luggage, hang and fold our clothes. Good lighting and outlets for our charging cables and such. Oscillating fan as well.

The kitchen was compact but clean. Dishwasher and washing machine (drying rack was stored in bedroom cupboard). We didn't cook any full meals but heated soup, cooked eggs etc. Cheese, pate, wine and bread were our favorite meals in the apartment. Bought an amazing rotisserie chicken on Rue Montorgueil a few blocks away. Oh, the cheese, La Fermette on 86 Rue Montorgueil is heaven. Friendly, spoke some English and we went back frequently including our last day where they vacuum sealed our cheese purchases to bring home. Great wine store next door. Don't miss the oldest (and best) Patesserie in Paris at Stohrer 51 Rue Montorgueil. The whole neighborhood surrounding was magical especially in the evening.

The living room is cosy with plenty of seating for 4, & our girls said the sofa bed was quite comfortable. English TV channels and good wifi even with 4 people on it at once. Lovely Juliette balcony overlooking a quiet street. Friendly grocer, wine shop and patisserie just outside the doorstep. Convenient to walk everywhere but lots of metro stop locations to choose from. We used Uber quite a bit as well calling them when we were on wifi.

Our favorite restaurant was Italian, La Famiglia di Rebellato on 37 Rue Berger just minutes away. We used to live in Italy and this was the first time we felt EXACTLY like were back home, we spoke more Italian to them than French and each meal ended with complimentary shots of grappa, lemoncello or amaretto. Truffle gnocchi was breathtaking. Pizzas were perfecto! We went 4 times ;)

Best was cleanliness, professionalism & helpfulness. Merci Sebastian!

Live like a Parisian

  • 5 of 5

I loved the experience of living so close to many of the major sights in Paris. You are within walking distance of the Louvre. There is a great street for food shopping just around the corner. There is an ancient historic cathedral down the street. The mattress in the bedroom is comfortable. The street is quiet. The essentials are provided for and you won't regret staying here. We were a family of three adults and there was enough room for us. The apartment was clean, and the bathroom and kitchen were modern. Sebastien answered all my questions promptly, was at the apartment upon our arrival, and we found everything to be as promised.

Our stay of 8 nights was perfect. Could not ask for a better location. The apartment is small but has all you need. The neighborhood has friendly helpful shopkeepers -- small grocery, bakery, lunch, breakfast and dinner restaurants. We especially enjoyed Le Louis-Celine provides a wonderful place to relax and enjoy dinner just steps from the apartment. Sébastien was very helpful and responded quickly to a tiny leak from the dishwasher. Hope to return to Paris soon and this will be my first choice of accommodations.

Excellent alternative for a family of 4

  • 5 of 5

Our family stayed in the flat on Rue Herold for 5 nights. It's an excellent location and quiet neighborhood. Sebastien greeted us on arrival and took the time to show us all aspects of the apartment and gave us a map and recommendations on establishments in the area including restaurants, bakeries and markets. Sleeping arrangements were comfortable with the couch folding out to a queen-sized bed. Bed Linens, pillows and towels were plentiful and all kitchen necessities were provided. Including washing powder for the clothes washer that we ended up using a couple of times. There is no central a/c, however with the open windows and electric fans provided, we were quite comfortable.

A cozy apartment with just enough space for 2 parents and 2 kids.

Fantastic Paris Flat

  • 5 of 5

My mom and I stayed here for a week and the location was so fantastic, we called the Tuileries our "backyard". The location was amazing - so close to everything. We walked to the Seine, the Louvre, Les Halles, used the vélib' (station at Place des Victoires is super close by and fun to see the iconic equestrian King Louis XIV statue) to bike to Notre Dame, and enjoyed taking the metro home when we were tired from long days of exploring. We loved the proximity to Rue Montorgueil, where we lingered at cafés and bought cheese from La Fermette multiple times to enjoy with our wine each night at the apartment. Mom enjoyed the cozy bedroom and I was suitably comfortable on the pull out sofa. Mornings could be very loud with music coming from the restaurant directly below and the garbage and delivery trucks on the street, but that is city life and no different than being in NYC. We enjoyed having the large windows open and hanging out the Juliette balcony listening to the locals and taking in the Paris street style on the well dressed Parisians who seem to populate this area. An added bonus was the well appointed, if tiny, bathroom with a delightfully hot shower and towel warmer. When the plane landed back in Orlando, we were already missing "our" home on Rue Hérold. Highly recommend. Merci, Sébastien!
