Seaside Simplicity – Ocean Views and Quality Upgrades in St. Lawrence Gap

Sun, sea, lovely accommodations—all the essentials for an unforgettable Barbados vacation are here at this apartment in St Lawrence Gap!

Located within St. Lawrence Gap Condos, an intimate, 17-unit resort, Paradise Island boasts a seafront balcony with views that stretch endlessly in either direction.

Here, on the southern shore of Barbados, the Atlantic and Caribbean merge, creating ribbons of rich blue and turquoise water churned by Atlantic waves. It’s really something to see. Take your front row seat on the balcony, and be sure to snap some photos to look back on in the thick of wintertime!

These sea views anchor the open-concept living area at Paradise Island, which includes a sleek kitchen with stainless steel appliances, a 6-person dining table, and a lovely sitting area with a flat-screen TV. Settle in for a shared after-dinner bottle of wine or a cozy movie night with the sea glittering in the moonlight.

The two-level layout at Paradise Island means you can enjoy each other’s company for as long as you want, then escape for alone time when you need it.

On the lower level, the master bedroom (with a king-sized bed), opens directly to its own patio which leads to the private beach and sparkling swimming pool. The second bedroom has a queen-sized bed, and the third optional bedroom provides two twin beds.

Don’t miss a wonderful feature at this complex: a private jetty stretching its long arm into the sea. There are only a dozen such jetties on Barbados, and this is the only PRIVATE jetty. The secret space the jetty provides is a lovely setting for sunbathing, sunset-watching—even the occasional wedding! Because only guests and residents can access it, you’ll often have it all to yourself for a moment of quiet contemplation.

When you crave activity instead, surrounding St. Lawrence Gap delights with its selection of local restaurants, authentic shops, and many other entertainment options.

Our goal is to give you a top-notch vacation in one of the world’s most beautiful places. Let us know what we can do to make your dream trip come true.

We were in #3 paradise suite and it was 2 floors of all the comforts of home on the inside and pure paradise on the outside!! Kitchen fully stocked but we could have used another frying pan (nonstick)for 4 people. We were a party of 4. My husband and I had room downstairs that was awesome and enjoyed the patio access that opened right to the pool and stunning ocean waters. The bathroom was huge and 2 sinks his and hers and big shower that had awesome water pressure with non stop hot water. I brought my own towel as well which did come in handy even though they give you beach towels. There was tons of closet space complete with hangers and a safe to lock up valuables. The girls had the room upstairs that had a giant sliding window facing ocean that they could completely open up and let paradise blow through the upstairs. The sound of the waves is non stop and truly relaxing. You will hear it all day and all night long!! Very soothing!

Let me add that we couldn’t hear them at all upstairs. Privacy is perfect!

The cleaners came every 2 days which is perfect. Lovely staff sooo friendly and completely thorough. The fact that they have several ladies cleaning units is great so they are very quick in case you are hanging around the pool that day. They will also ask you what a good time to come is which is very cool. We happily tipped these beauties every time they came.

The complex is kept pristinely clean and you will see Ricardo every morning around 7-7:30 out cleaning the grounds and pool. He even sprays down the chairs and loungers to make certain they are clean and ready for the next person every morning. Super nice man and very helpful. If you need advice on boat tours or island tours he’s your man! He even arranged our private boat tour with turtle man and it was amazing!!! 50 US each and we were gone 3.5 hours. Caught a barracuda and he offered to cook for us as wel. So friendly and not at all sketchy

Every evening you will see security guards Jerry or Michael out front making sure the building is secure as the nightlife is literally outside the front door at night. By the way we didn’t hear that either from our beds when it was time for bed so no worries about that keeping you up.

Being located on the gap we were in the middle of some great food and entertainment in the evenings, very handy. Harlequin was delicious a bit pricier then the rest but very much worth it.

Just book folks you will be glad you did I promise you that! New favorite

A perfect location in a happening area!

We have been traveling to Barbados for more than 20 years and have stayed on the west and south coasts in everything from fully staffed villas to limited service hotels. This was the first time we stayed in St. Lawrence Gap ("The Gap") which is a street lined with hotels, restaurants and bars. We spent two weeks at St. Lawrence Beach Condos and our condo was perfect for 2 couples with up and down ocean-front master king-bedded suites. There is a street-side 3rd bedroom which accommodated my daughter and her finance for a few nights during our stay as well. We came home telling everyone that this was our best trip ever. From the ease of booking with Jane, who responded very promptly to requests and questions to Ricardo, who greeted upon our arrival and explained everything about the condo and was always available, we can't recommend them enough! We had a dishwasher leak which Ricardo fixed right away and we had a couple of very minor issues during our stay which he took care of immediately. The complex is very lucky to have him!! The condo has a nicely equipped kitchen and we prepared most breakfasts and some lunches while we enjoyed the ocean-front pool. This property is a huge value - housekeeping comes in every third day to completely clean the condo and refresh linens and towels. The ladies were so sweet and efficient. Restaurants and Dover Beach are literally steps away from the condo -- you do not need a car. We used the local buses a couple times to get groceries and go into Bridgetown. This was a wonderful stay at a fabulous property. We can't wait to return!!

Let me tell you

  • 5 of 5

The Gap is centrally located to restaurants, vendors and a short walk to two different beaches.

The unit has everything you need to prepare a meal..but why prepare a meal when you have a choice of restaurants a stone throw away.

Mrs. Jane sends you a packet that has EVERYTHING you need to know regarding enjoying your stay. Then when you arrive, you are greeted by Ricardo or Mr. Larry that are a plethora of local insights...Ricardo can tell you about the best food trucks to try...and they are not hard to locate..

If I make my way back to Barbados ..I already know where I am going to stay.

Thank you Jane, Ricardo and Mr. Larry for a wonderful stay.

A cure for winter or menopause blues...

Greetings from a frigid Pennsylvania! Thinking just last Thursday, we were snorkeling off the coast and enjoying the Tiami (sp?) boat cruise (and the rum punches were not bad either).

I wanna go baaaaaaccccckkkkkk! The four of us absolutely loved the condo, the people, the weather, THE FOOD!, you name it, we loved it. We took a bus to Bridgetown and upon boarding, packed liked sardines, we encountered smiles and a barrage of "good mornings". I was standing butt-to-butt with an older woman and with each person boarding the bus, our butts rubbed together more frequently and closer. After the third time, I leaned back to her and said that we should introduce each other since our butts are getting together so much. Thankfully she broke out in a laugh and we introduced each other and smiled the rest of the way into town. We had a taxi driver stop us while walking in town, telling us we did not want to continue in the direction we were since it was not the nicer section of town. We then had a great lunch of samosas, fish cakes and rice at Ryannes (restaurant on second floor in town). Delish! We took an island tour from Mr. Ronald Adams mid-week - very gracious man and he took the time to annunciate a little more upon realizing my husband had trouble hearing and understanding him. Dover Beach was beautiful and we could not get over how polite the street vendors were - if you said no once, they stopped pursuing you to buy jewelry or whatever else they were selling. Our tour of Mt. Gay Rum was interesting and tasty! One night we actually stayed up past 10:00 at the Harbor Lights for dancing! Again, everyone was wonderful there. Jane Shattuck, the prop mgr was an absolute blessing on giving us info ahead of time of what sites to see, places to dine, and the culture (what goes on in Barbados...stays in Barbados!). You must put Jane Shattuck's condos on your bucket list for an absolutely wonderful vacation. We look forward to going back to Barbados in the years to come. Wishing you continued blessings! K. My family and I totally enjoyed our visit to THE ISLAN. The accommodations could not have been more perfect for the four of us. That being within the unit as well as getting around up and down the Gap. My wife was on crutches so having everything right there was extremely convenient.

One of the handouts in the unit requested comments about restaurants in the area. I think Café Sol and Crave was on the list, both of which we visited. I would also add Primo and Sharkey’s. We had dinner at Primo’s and it was fabulous from appetizer to dessert. As you probably know, it is perhaps a bit more expensive than other places in the immediate area, but well worth it. The service was also fantastic. Five stars in our book.

We went to Sharkey’s down the street twice for lunch. The waitress was extremely friendly and really took interest in making sure we enjoyed our visit, especially the first visit. I asked about the fishcakes. Her response was if you are just getting here, “Don’t ask, just get them”. I did and they were great!!!!!

Just so you know, we went on the beach extravaganza at Harbor Lights, Best of Barbados tour which included Harrison’s Cave, green monkeys and snorkeling with sea turtles; Atlantis sub tour, swimming in the pool and beach at the condo, shopping in Bridgetown, just to name a few things. Ohhh and of course the Oistins Fish Fry. It was a fantastic week with your unit being are excellent home base.

Simply a fabulous time that we will never forget. We vowed to return no later than 2018, perhaps with additional family members. When we come back we will be staying in one of your units again and perhaps the same one.

THANK YOU so much Jane. If you have questions or want to know anything more, let me know.

Best Regards.

Al G.

Fabulous place with a great layout and location

  • 4 of 5

This property is great! The layout is fabulous! We were a group of 2 couples and we each have a baby. There is 2 master suites (one upstairs and one downstairs) and 2 bathrooms which was great for privacy! The rooms are huge and both have a great view!

The kitchen is well stocked with anything you need.

This place is right at the start of the Gap, so you are as close as you need to be and still very quiet at night.

The staff is beyond welcoming and helpful! Ricardo is on top of everything and always ready to assist you with help or info on anything!

The only thing I would do different next time is bring an extra beach towel just in case the one (per person) provided isn't dry when you want to go back in the water.

Car: not necessary

The south coast of Barbados is known for its beautiful white beaches, the famous Oistins Fish Fry on Friday nights, and its friendly vibe where you'll find locals (called Bajans) and tourists alike.

The St. Lawrence Gap ("gap" means "street") is the area on the south coast that is a favorite destination for both locals and tourists. Lots of quaint small businesses, delicious restaurants, colorful shops, and more—all within walking distance of your condo. A car is not necessary; a taxi to and from the airport is likely all you’ll need.

Known as "The Jewel of the Caribbean," Barbados has more repeat visitors than any of the Caribbean islands and, according to the Caribbean Tourism Organisation (CTO), 34% of all arrivals to Barbados are repeat visitors. It's easy to see why: The climate averages ideal temperatures in the winter of 75-82 degrees Fahrenheit and in summer a warmer but still lovely 88-92. Gentle trade-winds from the sea keep us cool and we rarely turn on the air-conditioning, although it's available throughout our unit. People are friendly, the sea is crystal clear, and the rum fantastic.

A perfect holiday getaway. If you have any questions, I invite you to contact me about this or any of the vacation rental properties I offer. We are experts on all things Barbados, so feel free to ask about the must-see places and activities to explore during your trip. I know your holiday time is limited—I will do everything I can to help you make the most of your stay in beautiful Barbados.

Thanks for looking,

Jane Shattuck
