From the moment you enter the front door of this lovely oceanview home, you'll feel glad you made the right choice for your vacation in the tropics. As you cross the tan, tiled floor, you'll notice the modern kitchen and the generous dining table. Passing through the French doors, you'll arrive on the tiled pool deck. There you can plop down on a padded, cushioned pool chair. Better yet, you can kick off your sandals, and pop right into the gorgeous pool!

Enjoy lounging under the Caribbean sun and the blue sky that's punctuated by fluffy, cottony clouds. Enjoy paddling around in the deepest pool on Saint John -- or lolling, half underwater on the huge steps in its corner. We know you'll appreciate the quiet, secluded privacy of your own little 'peace o' heaven.'

The large dining table and cushioned chairs out on the pool deck invite your party to dine outdoors after barbecuing on the gas grill. Then enjoy gazing at a flamboyant sunset from the porch swing.

After sunset, watch as Saint Thomas comes to life like a pulsing gem of light against the black velvety background under the moon and stars.

Inside, the cross ventilation through the doors and shutter windows invite the 200-foot-high hillside breezes (aided and abetted by the floor and ceiling fans). You're sure to get a cool restful sleep. (The installed split-unit A/Cs in each bedroom are hardly ever needed).

About Ruthellen & Andrew

Andrew, aka 'Captain Magic,' has loved the water and warm weather since he was a boy. While playing sax on many cruise ships, he visited many ports o' call and fell in love with St. John. After years of dreaming, he, and his life partner, Ruthellen (aka 'Dr. Cha Cha Cha') sailed from Florida in their 30' sailboat, arriving at their new home in 2001. Andrew and Ruthellen love sharing the pristine beauty and peacefulness of St. John with their guests.

What makes this villa unique

Tropical beach feel, but convenient to town and amenities. The swing on the pool deck facing west to St. Thomas and beyond, is the perfect place to hang out.

The entire living area is on one level, with only 1 step up to the porch and a low threshold. This feature and the open floor plan make it suitable for guests with disabilities and mobility issues. But, because the home is built into the natural incline, there is still a tree house feel and view from the deck.

We visited Peace O’Heaven for a special family celebration. After talking with Ruthellen, we knew this was the right place for our family. Her personal approach was appreciated and it removed every concern we may have had about renting. Once we arrived, Mark met us at the dock and took care of everything as promised, and more! He was excellent with every detail including recommending places to visit and eat. The house was clean and just as it appears in the listing. It had everything a family needed and more. The huge doors in every room leading to the pool deck let in the breeze and allowed us a wonderful view of the island. The pool was a hit for our 3 kids after a day of snorkeling. The house is located on the hillside so a jeep is recommended. It didn’t take long to find our way around and visit many of the beaches on the island. They are each unique and well worth the time to see. We can’t thank Ruthellen, Andrew and Mark enough for making it a perfect place to celebrate our special occasion. We have already recommended it to several of our friends; we just hope they take us with them when they visit! I’m sure we will be back in the future.

Individual A/C units in the bedrooms. On pool deck: 4 Chaise Lounges & 2 Chairs + Outdoor Dining Table & 4 Chairs. Please note that the villa & pool are for the exclusive use of the short-term rental guests. But be advised that there is a small cottage, which is rented long-term (2 tenants), as well as an "owner's apartment" below the pool deck, part of the living room & west bedroom. As the owners now live stateside due to medical disabilities, it is also rented long-term. Tenants are quiet, responsible adults, who rent with the understanding that the comfort & needs of the vacationing guests are paramount. This arrangement is quite common on St. John to help even out income in the off-season & cover the exceptionally high cost of doing business there. At the same time, the layout of the property was designed to create maximum privacy. We believe that our rates reflect our semi-private situation, while still providing all the amenities for a wonderful stay at a value price.

Great pool, very close to downtown and beautiful view of Cruz Bay

This is our second time staying at Peace O' Heaven. The property is great and has all the amenities. The location is amazing, the views are spectacular and the pool is hours of entertainment! The property owners and manager are accommodating and wonderful to work with. We will be back!

Great week on St John at Peace O' Heaven

Me, my wife, my 12 year old son, and a good friend stayed at Peace 'O Heaven for our vacation week in St John and we loved it. The local agent Ken met us at the dock and took us to the villa, which was just up the hill out of town. Ken helped get us situated and made us feel right at home. Highlights for the villa were definitely the pool, which was nice to cool off and unwind in after an afternoon in the hot sun. Also, the chair swing on the deck, which looks out over Cruz Bay to incredible night views of St Thomas. Location close to town made it easy and quick to go there (by jeep, as the walk up the hill is not for everyone).

One note; while the villa description does state that there are other tenants that live underneath and behind the villa, it says the are quiet and you won't see or hear them. This is not the case. We heard them loud and clear every night at 10:00. Their car has no muffler, and they peel out in the gravel driveway pulling out every night and it is loud since their parking space is just outside the master bedroom. One night they were even having a LOUD verbal argument in the driveway. Other than the noise from the tenants, it was a great week.

Owner's Response: You are welcome, Doug. Of course, we are delighted that overall you were happy at Peace O' Heaven! But needless to say, we are also very distressed to hear that you had to endure some unexpected "noise pollution". Actually, Ken just relayed to me the wonderful message you wrote in our Guestbook at the villa. He was also surprised that you had not informed him of the unexpected noise, as he ALWAYS impresses on our guests that they should never hesitate to contact him immediately whenever an issue or concern arises. Though of course we appreciate that you were tolerant of a less than ideal situation, you were certainly within your rights to report a problem! We would encourage any future prospects to contact us our our on-site agent as soon as any problem should arise. We trust that you can understand economic factors require that we maximize the value of our property by renting a couple of long-term units as well. We feel that our rates are adjusted to reflect that our villa is not 100% secluded and offer a great value for those willing to forgo complete privacy in the relatively exclusive St. John market. We ALWAYS make clear to our long-term tenants that the ultimate comfort and satisfaction of our vacation guests is paramount. Thankfully, the vast majority are compliant. (They understand, as well as we do, that tourism is the lifeblood of the St. John economy and that their livelihoods depend on it too!) In fact, when investigating the events as you reported, we learned that the source of the annoyance was a visiting relative of a man who has been a "model" tenant for over 2 years! That said, while we cannot predict or control the behavior of every tenant (or short-term guest, for that matter), we are sincerely sorry for any discomfort or inconvenience you experienced while staying at our home. Again, we thank you for your tolerance and for focusing on the great time you had with your family despite this unfortunate incident. When you return we will thank you yet again by giving you one night free!

A piece of heaven

This is our 4th time visiting this villa. I wouldn't stay anywhere else. Right up the hill from Cruz Bay and a beautiful deck top view.

Relaxing, wonderful vacation in an ideal spot!

My husband, myself and our 16 year old spent 4 wonderful nights in Peace O'Heaven this April. We found the location ideal - easy to drive to the East End, easy to drive to beaches, and a "reasonable" walk to downtown. Yes, we walked down and back several nights - it is a steep incline (everything is!) without any sidewalks - but there were other pedestrians around and it is really hard to find parking downtown. About the cottage --- when we we pulled up front I was concerned about the condition of the yard BUT as soon as we walked inside I was charmed! The house was spotlessly cleaned and impeccably maintained. The pool had undergone some renovation and was incredibly clear and clean and inviting. It was hard to tear ourselves away to get to the beaches! The pool was a perfect temperature and there was always the choice of shade or sun to sit in. I cooked 2 dinners in (and all our breakfasts) and found everything I needed to do the cooking. We went to the beaches everyday, and the cottage had a nice supply of snorkeling gear, beach towels, a cooler, and some older sand chairs - all of which were really appreciated.

Peace O' Heaven

It truly was! Amazing views and peaceful setting. Sunsets are the best viewed overlooking the pool with drink in hand. The villa is nicely appointed with all the needed conveniences. We felt right at home. Close to town, the beaches and Centerline road. Can't wait to stay there again

We are just outside of Cruz Bay Town, off of Centerline Rd. (Rte. 10), up 'Pocket Money Lane'(Hill). You proceed up that hill about an 1/8th of a mile, pass the Church Gate on the left and Cruz Views Condos on the right. Make the 'very next' left and our home is the second property on the left, with the aqua roof. We think our place is a great location. It is high enough to be out of the hustle of town, to take advantage of the view and the breezes, yet convenient to shopping and restaurants. You can even walk!
