Casa Rosa, A Gorgeous Beachfront House With Freshwater Pool near Tulum

Bedrooms 4
Space 3,000 sq ft
Property type house
Minimum Stay 7 nights

About the property

4BR/3BA Beachfront Villa, Tankah, Mexico (Sleeps 8)

Casa Rosa is a privately owned home that fronts onto a gorgeous, picture-perfect white sand beach on Tankah Bay. In immediate proximity to Casa Rosa, there are several fine restaurants, the historic Tulum ruins, Xel-Ha Nature Park, Manatee Cenote, Hidden Worlds Cenote, and several other attractions. This exquisite area is the perfect vacation spot for those who love tropical paradise. The Yucatan hosts the world's second largest reef, which sits 300 feet from Casa Rosa. The reef is a snorkeler's dream, as is the famous Manatee Cenote - a freshwater snorkeling spot with clear, emerald green water and tropical fish, located just 12 houses down the road from Casa Rosa. Sunbathing at the house is also a pleasure either around the pool, on the beach, on our private second floor deck, and even more private third floor star gazing terrace. And for those who love sitting in the shade with a good book, there are plenty of palm trees to curl up under.

The palm tree shaded house adjoins 50 feet of crystal white sand which slips into the Caribbean where you can swim, snorkel, kayak or just play in the warm turquoise water, or take in the whole picturesque scene seated poolside. This relaxed luxury appeals to both children and adults!

Extensive renovations to this charming pink stucco house were recently completed. While retaining the privacy and shade provided by the 15 year old palm trees, the renovations added a beautiful glass tiled pool, an extensive wrap around patio, including in-pool seating, and a mosaic tiled gas-fired BBQ. The kitchen and living room were also remodeled with colorful Mexican tile and mosaics, and new furniture. Outdoors, hammocks and swings abound on the new patio connecting the beach side of the house to the sugar fine sandy shoreline and turquoise waters. The new upstairs terrace features 3 built-in sofas shaded by a new palapa, each with a fantastic Caribbean view.

This large and private second story terrace has elegant night time lighting and affords guests a perfect setting for cocktails and entertaining to the background sounds of waves and swaying palm trees. There is now a private third floor sun deck with exquisite 360degree views of the region - perfect for enjoying sunset cocktails!

Convenient home base: Because we are situated between Akumal and Tulum and just off the main highway, Casa Rosa is a great location from which to take day trips to the many nearby cenotes, eco-parks, the Sian Ka'an Biosphere, dive sites, fishing trips, world class golf courses and Mayan ruins. Chichen-Itza is a 3 hour drive, Tulum is a 10 minute drive, and Coba is only 40 minutes away. Our library has several guide books to these destinations and others, as well as a binder of our personal favorites, plus novels, CD's, and DVD's.

Relaxed luxury: Poolside, on the beach, on the second floor terrace and on the third floor sun deck there are palapas with hammocks, and an assortment of beach chairs and chaise lounges. You can swim or kayak to the reef for excellent snorkeling or swim laps in the nearby cenote. If you are feeling athletic, there are 2 two person kayaks available for your use. Bring dive and snorkel gear, or rent it from the local dive shops.

Comfort and convenience: If you plan on eating in and/or entertaining, Casa Rosa's kitchen is fully equipped with dishes, glassware, cookware, bottled water, as well as a blender, coffee maker, juicer, gas range, and refrigerator. We also have chef service available in home with an outstanding menu so you can bask in home cooked meal luxury. There are supermarkets in nearby Tulum and Akumal where most grocery items and liquors can be purchased or you can shop in Cancun at Costco or Sam's or one of the other large grocery stores. There is maid service 6 days a week and fresh towels and linens are provided for your enjoyment.

Connectivity: Even on vacation, one finds the need to plug into the modern world. Casa Rosa has WiFi throughout for those who need it, as well as flat screen TV's in the Master bedroom and living room, along with the largest selection of English language satellite channels available.

Precisely Perfect

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I and our four "adult" children just returned from a week at Casa Rosa on beautiful Tankah Bay immediately north of Tulum. This property was precisely right for our group and "as advertised" in every respect.

The house is generously sized with 4 ample bedrooms - two "master" suites (one down; one up) and two nicely appointed secondary bedrooms on the first floor. The kitchen is huge and well-equipped. The living area is comfortable. The house offers all the comforts of home. The air conditioning works very well - important for a trip like ours in August. The oceanfront terraces and decks are wonderful for relaxing during the day or in the evening. The pool is great for a quick dip to cool off or simply relax. The setting in a small grove of coconut palms with hammocks strung between a couple is idyllic in every way.

The staff is wonderful. Bernardino is the groundskeeper and general all-around go-to-guy for whatever you need - including a refreshing coconut drink right out of the nut he's pulled off one of the trees on the beach. Maria does a great job keeping things inside and out spotless and fresh towels in the bathrooms (there are 3 - with plenty of hot water). We didn't get a chance to sample one of Maria's meals (we understand they're wonderful) because we found too many great places in Tulum to eat, but we arrived to find a big batch of freshly made guacamole and Pico de Gallo in the frig along with a bag of chips - all very welcome since we didn't arrive to the house until 8:00 PM on our day or arrival (we asked her to repeat the guacamole, which she did to perfection). From sundown to sunrise, Noel patrols the grounds, keeping an eye out for security and for any nesting or hatching sea turtles (and making really cute crafts from palm fronds).

Being there in August, we had the possibility of seeing turtles nest or hatch. The hatching usually occurs during the dead of night. When we arrived, we found the beach in front of the house and north and south literally covered with turtle nesting spots (each carefully marked and dated). Amazingly, two of those nests right in front of Casa Rosa hatched in the early evening while it was still light and we witnessed the most amazing spectacle of literally hundred of little turtles (200 +/- per next) coming up out of the sand and heading straight to the water. We've never seen anything like it before and will never forget it.

In short, I can't recommend Casa Rosa more highly.

The Perfect Casa

  • 5 of 5

I have stayed in many Villas in the Mayan Riviera, and Casa Rosa ranks pretty high on the list of best places rented. The price is quite reasonable, the architecture is perfect, the place is super spacious (the roof deck alone is an amazing place to hang out) and the palm trees offer just the right amount of shade to sit in a chair and take in the ocean breeze while reading a book. I went with 3 other mothers and our kids and we had one of the most relaxing vacations ever. This was made possible by the cooks and cleaners so we were not sweeping sand and making mac and cheese the whole time. Cannot wait to return!

Absolutely Unbeatable!

  • 5 of 5

As a travel writer and photographer for more than a decade I have travelled extensively throughout Mexico and had the great fortune to experience amazing beaches on four of its five coasts. My wife and I have also rented homes throughout the country and, without question, Casa Rosa is the best we have found. We rented the house to celebrate my father’s 80th birthday and my wife’s 40th birthday and it is difficult to express what a true pleasure it was to have Casa Rosa as our home for those ten days. The house very comfortably accommodated five adults and two small children and offered quiet and privacy, but with ready access to all Tulum has to offer. Minutes from the ruins and the many excellent restaurants in town, Casa Rosa was the perfect getaway. The house itself is clean and everything is perfectly maintained. Whether lounging in one of the hammocks in the cool breeze coming off the Caribbean Sea, watching sea turtles lay their eggs on our beach, enjoying a delicious meals prepared by the warm and accommodating caretakers, Bernadino and Maria, our stay at Casa Rosa inspired a rare sense of contentment and tranquility. I can’t recommend Casa Rosa highly enough. Our only complaint is that it will now be hard to stay anywhere else—some of our friends have already booked the house and we’re planning to do the same next year!

Casa Rosa is on a perfect white sand beach just 30 minutes south of Playa del Carmen, 10 minutes south of Akumal, 5 minutes north of Tulum and 20 minutes north of Sian Ka'an.

Other Activities: Casa Rosa is the perfect vacation home for friends and family visiting the Mayan Riviera. You can spend your entire vacation lounging in our freshwater pool, enjoying our chef's meals on our patio, and star gazing from our third floor terrace. Or you can use Casa Rosa as your home base for golfing, snorkeling, scuba, fishing, cenote diving, birding, and ruins adventures throughout the region. We are tucked away, but close to it all, with one of the most perfect beaches and soft, silky sand entries to Tankah Tres bay.

If you want to stay close by, just down the beach is Casa Cenote restaurant where you can experience fresh water snorkeling (in the cenote) and watch the fresh and ocean waters mix in front of the beachside restaurant, as well as the delicious Blue Sky Restaurant. Oscar y Lalo's, famous for fresh seafood, is located just north in Tankah 4 (also known as Solimon Bay). A little farther from home, but still only 10 minutes away are the many restaurants in nearby Akumal and Tulum. Playa del Carmen, about 30 minutes north, is also a fun destination for dinner and shopping.

Nearby there are world class golf courses, outstanding deep sea fishing and scuba trips, Mayan ruins, Sian Ka'an nature expeditions, cenote dives and snorkles, a myriad of boutique restaurants, bars and of course, fantastic beaches throughout the area.
