About Mark Browning

We loved Andermatt as soon as we saw it, particularly the Old Village with its cobbled streets and wooden houses. Since we first arrived, there have been countless positive changes with a new Chedi hotel recently opened and new ski lifts and restaurants to follow in 2015/6 (making it the biggest ski area in central Switzerland), yet the Old Village retains its charm. We love coming here all the year round - hiking in summer and autumn, skiing in winter, it is our home from home.

Why Mark Browning chose Uri - Gotthard

You could not find a better location than Holzgasse, situated right in the middle of Old Andermatt. Nowadays there are new properties being offered in Batz, near Andermatt, but nowhere near the epicentre. From us, you can walk to the shops, walk to the ski lift, walk to all of the town's restaurants, and even ski in from the Talabfahrt run.

Andermatt enjoys excellent accessibility from every direction, with superb national and international transportation links (by car or by train). It is located in a preferred geographical setting, in the heart of Switzerland and the whole Alpine region, 1 ½ hours off Zurich and Milan.

Andermatt is a charming village in the heart of the Swiss Alps that has been welcoming visitors for more than a century. This unspoilt locale embodies the essence and incomparable beauty of Switzerland, with flowering meadows in summer and snow-covered mountains in winter.

Nestled in Urserental at the junction of 4 cantons and 3 passes, Andermatt is surrounded by untouched Alpine scenery. From high peaks and deep gorges, to wild waterfalls and quiet lakes, the diverse landscape of the Gotthard region is truly unique. Four major rivers originate in the Gotthard region - the Rhine, the Rhone the Reuss and the Ticino.

Adventurers can explore ice glaciers and some of the great Alpine passes, plus a wide range of sport and leisure activities. Whether you want to relax or be active, visitors will find something to divert them all year round. Further afield, many attractions are within close reach, making it an excellent destination for culture lovers, sports enthusiasts and families. The Glacier Express that runs between Zermatt and St Moritz, makes a stop in Andermatt and promises a memorable train ride through the breath-taking Alpine countryside.

Thanks to the destination’s high altitude and reliable snow fall, the region is perfect for all kinds of winter sports; Alpine skiing, snowboarding, freeride, cross country, biathlon, ice skating, curling and many more.
