We really enjoyed the house and all it has to offer including the spacious porch and hotub. Everything seemed clean and felt very homey.

Perfect winter getaway!

  • 5 of 5

We recently rented this property over New Years and had a great time! The house was very spacious and updated and we felt that it was even nicer in person than the pictures. There were 8 of us total (4 couples) and there was more than enough room for everyone. The living room was big enough for everyone to hang out and the kitchen table was perfect for cards. The wifi login and access to netflix were nice surprises given that it was the winter and lounging outside was not an option. The property was very close to the downtown area and would be perfect any time of year. I would definitely stay there again!

Didn't Meet Our Expectations

  • 2 of 5

The best thing I can say about this property is that it is indeed spacious and easily accommodated 8 adults. Aside from that, not too many other positives. It looks like at one time (based on photos) it was much better maintained and in nicer condition. But now, for example, the carpet on the stairway was absolutely filthy--didn't even want to think about walking on it without shoes on. There was mold in bathrooms and they were somewhat clean, but not the kind of clean you expect in a rental property that you pay this amount for. The linens & towels looked like they came from a thrift store, all mismatched odds & ends, and not even nice ones at that. There were 3 wine glasses in the kitchen, one had a huge crack in it, so only 2 were usable (minor detail but indicative of the quality of furnishings)There were big screen tv's in the house, but unfortunately there was no cable connection so we resorted to using our own Netflix account...seems odd to furnish the place with nice tv's without a functional way to use them. The upstairs bedroom bunk beds squeaked so loudly every time we moved and they were so disruptive to a good night's sleep we just stopped sleeping in them and inflated our own air mattress instead. And although the house sits on a nice sized treed lot with a large deck and front porch, even that didn't feel comfortable and inviting, as the yard was overgrown and unkempt and it all seemed in need of cleaning & maintenance. Overall, this home has the capacity to be a lovely vacation getaway, however, it appears to have been neglected and needs some serious updating. I would not recommend renting this home for this price--we definitely expected better!

Was OK, but

  • 3 of 5

The house was a good size with lots of room to spread out, but there were some key issues that we were not happy about:

the yard and deck areas were in serious need of updating and maintenance - lots of weeds growing in all of the landscaping and the deck was worn and dirty - as was the patio furniture outside - we never used it as it was not nice!

The home did not have cable and was only able to receive one network (the local fox affiliate) through the antenna - kind of sucked when we wanted to catch up on olympics coverage in the evening - they did have wifi and netflix available, but even the login info in the paperwork they gave us was wrong - fortunately there was some old documents in the house with the correct info

The bathrooms were not fully clean with mildew on all of the caulking, which also was coming loose - had a problem where water leaked through the ceiling when the caulking in the upstairs shower has become pulled away from the tub.

Overall not a bad place, but would have expected nicer and cleaner for the price!

We noticed in hindsight the other reviews were all several years old - looks like not much has been done on property since then

Rented the Carriage House for a week with siblings and spouses! Was a great time for the 11 of us. The deck worked out great and the sleeping arrangements were wonderful. The main living/kitchen area was spacious with plenty of room to prepare meals, eat and play games! The walk into town didn't take much time and was very easy. The rental company went above and beyond for us and were a delight to work with. I would definitely book this again!

Amazing house for family vacation!!!

  • 5 of 5

It's so hard to judge via online description whether a rental is perfection or frustration waiting for you. Well this one is perfection. We went with two married couples (brother/sister in laws), three little ones (ages 2-10) and grandparents. The attached garage is large and holds two cars while there's plenty of driveway space for more vehicles. We had zero interruptions from neighbors, and though there's no fencing for dogs, it's secluded enough that they can run around and not bother anyone in the big yard (much of which is a little girl's dream with tons of wildflowers). Then there's a lovely nature preserve just through the back where there is a forest (great for exploring), a path around a lilly pad pond (great for walking the pups), and it's quite serence and picturesque. The hot tub right off the lovely big sunroom is perfect for kids (low temp) during the day and adults at night. Overall the layout feels very large and open, but with nooks and crannies to get away and read. The rear deck is quite large with two round tables for 4 each, and there is a built in bench as well for more seating. There is a small old school charcoal grill (would have loved a more updated one, but this did the job!). Front deck is lovely with wicker seating and a porch swing!

Kitchen is spacious, and open format, with skylight, and eat-in counter for three. Very decent plateware and glassware including wine glasses and lots of mugs. Would suggest brining nicer knives and maybe pans if you cook a lot. Looks onto Jacuzzi tub, rear deck, dining area, and main living area- so it's absolutely perfect to cook and still interact with everyone.

Sunroom- large sunny, very clean like the rest of the house. The daybed has a trundle underneath, and the additional couch has a pull out. Plus there's a small foosball table!

There were tons of blankets and pillows and towels, stocked with TP to get you started.

Location- perfect, walk to town in 5-10, even with toddler. Walk to playground on the way. Walk to cute historic mill down the block, walk to nature preserve I mentioned, drive to Oval Beach/Douglass in 10 mins. But very quiet eventhough it's on a main road.

Bedrooms were just fine, lots of storage, very clean, girls loved the bunk bed (though it scared me a little!). Bathrooms are updated and very clean (one has large stand up shower one has big tub and two sinks). Rental company was super professional and hospitable! LOVE IT!
