We have lived in the area for 27 years, and think it's the prettiest part of St. Augustine! We live next door, and our combined 1+ acre yards have over 60 Live Oak trees, and the canopy is so beautiful overlooking the water!

Melinda Casado purchased this house in 1999

Fabulous Sunset, Good Location, Lovely Home.

  • 5 of 5

We've been to St. Augustine many times, so we knew this would be a perfect location for us. It's on International waters, a few blocks from Vilano Beach and a short distance to Downtown. The neighborhood is pleasant and quiet; the listing is an accurate description.

The main attraction for me was the sunset, could not have asked for a better location! This rental has a private dock that you can walk out to, and at the end of the dock is a picnic table. In the morning I carried my breakfast down to the dock, watched the boats and enjoyed the view. Every night I'd walk down to see the sunset, and I was never disappointed. Wow! What a show!

The house is clean and well maintained. The interior colors and decorating are in a pretty coastal style. It's a one floor home so it's an easy access to all rooms. The bedrooms are nice and beds are comfortable, the bamboo bedding is a nice touch! There is also a TV in each bedroom. The living room and kitchen area is a nice size. The patio is off the kitchen area. There is a gas grill on the patio and we used that several times for dinner, which we ate out on the patio. The breeze from the water made it quite bearable to be outside.

*I especially appreciated the laundry room! Lots of linens, beach towels, decent appliances, and nice furniture.

Two tandem kayaks are near the dock for use on the Tolomato (the waterway at the property). There are bikes in the garage.

There are so many restaurants to choose from, a few of our favorites are Cap's on the Water, Kingfish Grill and The Floridian. I have to eat gluten free and these restaurants were a few that had great selections! Enjoyed all the fresh local seafood! There is a Publix close by for groceries.

Downtown Historic St. Augustine has plenty of history, shops, art galleries and attractions. This time we ventured out a bit to World Golf Village and the Outlets. Fun day! Anastasia State Park is a fantastic place to spend the day biking, kayaking, walking, and swimming.

The owners Melinda and Art are very nice and live next door. They are readily available if you need anything. Other than that you will never see them, because as Melinda said to us "this is your house" and they treat exactly that way.

I would definitely recommend this location to family and friends. This was our first experience with VRBO and it was a good experience.

Whether you are an adventurer or are simply looking to relax, the Wahoo house is the place for you. The house is beautifully appointed, and it sits directly on the water. Watch the boats pass by as you eat your breakfast at the large dining room table, or, better yet, just have breakfast on the dock. The beds are comfortable which is good because you'll need your rest after a long day of water adventures or sight seeing in beautiful downtown St. Augustine. The beach is a short walk and the city is a quick drive. The owners provide access to two kayaks as well as paddles and life jackets. You can also purchase a tenant membership at a private beach club that offers a beautiful pool and delicious food. We enjoyed our stay so much that we booked our visit for next year before we left. Don't miss this amazing opportunity for a little time in paradise.

Beautiful Setting

  • 5 of 5

We have stayed in numerous vacation rentals and this one was the BEST. First of all it was immaculate. The bamboo linens were wonderful. Plenty of supplies in the kitchen and a great ice maker. The yard is full of old live oak trees which were beautiful. The best part of all this is the dock which is shared with the owners (no one was ever out there but us). We spent a great deal of time out there fishing, eating and just enjoying the view. One afternoon there was a sailboat regatta which was so neat to see. Great place to fish. Wonderful place to sit and seethe sunsets. We so loved it here and will be back.

A very nice, clean place.

  • 4 of 5

A very nice up-to-date, well equipped house, as well as very nicely furnished. It is in an equaling nice residential neighborhood, very quiet. The owners who live next door were very pleasant folks and were quick to take care of any of our needs that came up, including anything that needed fixing. The location on the intracoastal waterway was enjoyable but not for good swimming. Vilano Beach is about a 4-block walk away or a drive up to the coastal highway to a parking lot with access to the beach. The Atlantic is too rough for swimming most of the time. Nice restaurants on the island too, which we took advantage of since we had very little luck finding parking in the city of St. Augustine for either dining or sight seeing during our 6-week stay. We liked having a garage to put our car in, the gas grill, and the porch which looks out at the intracoastal waterway.

Peaceful, well located, clean and well stocked

  • 5 of 5

This was our second stay at the house, once for a month and this time for three weeks. And we'd gladly come back. The location is really superb (I never found it hard to find), in a quiet residential neighborhood just a few minutes from all the activity but worlds away from the crush of tourism. The large private yard leading down to the dock has epic live oaks draped with Spanish moss, and could not be more romantic. Just three blocks away on the other side is a broad, long sandy beach fronted by the Ocean. The house is modern, very spacious and bright, furnished beautifully with everything you could ever possibly want on a vacation. (And if you think of something else, please ask the owners, they are thrilled to comply with any reasonable request! They live next door but you'll only see them if you need them). The kitchen is equal to any culinary desires you may have, the beds are big and comfy, there is an enclosed garage for your car, the Internet is strong and there are umpteen TV channels. Please read the other reviews for more notes. I've stayed in countless rental properties around the world, and inspected hundreds more for the online booking site I used to own: please believe me, this house is in the top tier. You'll love it!
