Update on a 5 stary host....

I'd completed my prior review, when my wife fell ill with a serious respiratory infection, approaching the severity of pneumonia. That led to cancelling our next night's accommodations for a trip outside Prague...and within three hours, Michal and Jarka leaped into action, locating a good hotel nearby that had a vacancy, hauling my wife and me to the Canadian Medical clinic and wangling an immediate appointment, then driving us and our pile of luggage to the hotel. This is so far above and beyond what you'd expect any apartment owner to do, that there's really no way to "rate" it. Just know that you're in the best hands in Prague when you stay here.

Meanwhile, one other thought on staying just outside the old city versus in the old city--and that is NOISE--we had two in-old-town apartments this trip, plus Michal's, and both old town ones suffered from boisterous (read "LOUD") partying passerby. In comparison, I had the windows opening and was listening to birdsong at Michal's. It wasn't constant party in old town, but if you're a person who actually likes to sleep in the apartment you rented, you've got a better chance outside old town....

Immaculate apartment, 5 star host

We lurched into a trip to the Czech Republic because we were invited to a liberation day ceremony. Certainly, I never thought I'd travel to this part of Europe, and trying to figure out how to handle lodging was a bit terrifying. But one thing we learned a couple years ago in Scotland was that renting an apartment made more sense for us than hotels where you're one more stranger in the day, and bed-and-breakfasts, which are as expensive as they are nice. My wife hired this place based on the reviews, and I'm pleased to add mine to the excellent ones already. Michael, our host, spent a good chunk of the day with us, walking patiently through tourist activities, local city knowledge, and what you need to know about the apartment. To my amazement, he even picked us up from the main train station after we dropped off our rental--that is truly 5 star service!

Don't fret about being "outside the old town." Matter of fact, it's nice to hop the tram and feel like a local as you leave tens of thousands of tourists behind. I'm no world traveler, but the tram system is incredibly easy to use and you can be anywhere in the city in about 45 minutes, max--and 15-20 minutes (assuming a few minutes' wait) to every tourist attraction. Great local restaurant with pleasant staff, happy locals, and good food (English menu and English-speaking staff). Five minutes on the tram gets you to a giant, most modern shopping mall with a huge Tesco for all necessities, and several small groceries nearby which carry an incredible array of goods. A bakery, too, though we never managed to get there--and a pharmacy as well. The apartment is modern, clean as clean can be, and in superb condition. Michael has thought of just about everything to make the guest be at home and functional--and his multilingual guest handbook covers all he tells you, and more--so you don't even have to take notes! Our only regret is that we couldn't book it for our full stay, as a prior guest had the last couple days booked already.

Parking, if you have a car, is underground in a garage that is probably the second cleanest place in Prague (this apartment would be first)--it has epoxied floors, security doors, and elevators straight up to the apartment floor. Of course, you'd best not rent a car for in-city travel--but if you're going outside Prague, or driving in, the parking is as sweet as is the apartment.

We could not be more pleased by our gracious host, or this most delightful apartment.

Home away from home!

The apartment is exactly as pictured, very clean, cute and had everything we needed to be comfortable. Michal and Jarka were so great about communicating with me. It was such a relief to know that they would take us to and from the airport! Michal greeted us at the airport and was so nice to stay and help us as our luggage was lost. When we arrived at the apartment, he made sure we were comfortable with everything and helped us with any questions we might have. He went above and beyond our expectations. I feel like we have known him for a long time! We loved the location. It was so convenient to get around Prague. The tram was right around the corner and would take us anywhere we needed to go. It is the perfect place for four adults or a family with small children. There is a cute restaurant right around the corner and the owner was also very helpful if we had any questions. We can't wait to return!

Just what we needed

The apartment was exactly as pictured - very clean, light, and with everything needed for a comfortable stay. It is located in a calm and safe neighborhood. Michal and Jarka are attentive and well organized, which made everything from booking the apartment to being transported back to the airport easy and straight-forward. The Prague transportation tickets are a definite plus. Getting into the city on the tram was fast and uncomplicated and there is a huge Tesco for getting groceries just a few stops down on the tram line. If you don't want to cook then there is a very good and reasonably priced restaurant on the corner by the apartment. It was a great stay!

If you’re like myself, reviews are one of the first things I look for prior to considering a vacation rental. First of all before I even get to the property, I must say the hosts Michal and Jarka are great beyond expectation. We were met at the airport by Michal who was there with a welcoming smile and you get the feeling like you’ve met someone you’ve known for many years. We then went to the apartment and for the first time, we were given a first hand advice on transportation, places to see, maps, info on the apartment and more. They’ve also compiled a great folder with all the information you could possible need while on your holiday and a vast collection of brochures & area attractions.

Now to the apartment. It’s as amazing as it appears in the photos. The living and dining room have ample space for relaxing, dinner at the table and quite a few HD TV channels to choose from which can been seen from all areas including the kitchen. If you’re interested in cooking there’s a full size refrigerator, 4 burner ceramic cooktop stove, oven and microwave along with all the utensils you can need... and more.The bathroom also has a washing machine which is ideal for longer stays. Despite being on the first floor, there’s actually still quite a nice view from the living room as the apartment block is located on an incline.

Location: If you’re thinking about being in Old Town or needing to be close to the action, not to worry you won’t miss anything here. They’ve provided passes for the local transportation system (tram, bus, and metro) which made it more convenient and economical than if we stayed elsewhere. You’re about a 3 minute walk to the nearest tram stop and from there just 3 stops to Andel. This area has fairly big mall right outside the stop... there you’ll find a wide variety of clothing stores, restaurants (including fast food, a 4DX movie theater, bowling alley and a 2 level TESCO supermarket. There’s also a mini-market 3 min walk from the apartment in case you’re looking to stay close. The same tram which takes you to Andel also continues down to Old Town and stops right by the National Museum. From there it’s just a short 4 / 5 min walk to the infamous Charles Bridge and more. The transport passes were welcoming and truly afforded us the opportunity to visit more places than expected.

Truly you won't be disappointed here... Excellent !

Wonderful apartment & great for families!

My husband and I traveled here from the United States with our three-year-old and six-year-old. The apartment was perfect. Michal and Jarka are incredibly kind and welcoming. While the apartment is not in the center of the city, it is very close to the tram and easy to get into the heart of the city. It just takes a few minutes! The apartment has every modern convenience - including some toys! I am kind of a neat-freak & the apartment was so clean & cute! There is a yummy restaurant with nice staff in the building. The hosts provide metro passes, there is secured parking & a washing machine. We truly wanted for nothing! Thank you so much for everything Michal & Jarka! You truly go above & beyond!

•Our recommendation – a place called ´ANDEL´ (the name means ´Angel´ in the Czech language) can be reached within a few minutes by tram - ´ANDEL´ is an area with plenty of shops, restaurants (both with Czech and international cuisine), cafes, pubs, bars, and clubs as well as a shopping mall. The area is also served by Prague Metro´s (subway) B line.
