La Casa Rosa Is Comfy, Quiet, and Centrally Located!

Bedrooms 1
Property type apartment
Minimum Stay 3 - 4 nights

About the property

Apartment, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

Welcome to the biggest bargain in Guanajuato vacation rentals! Perfect for one or two people, our newly renovated two-room apartment is bright, quiet, spacious, and secure.

La Casa Rosa apartment is located on a quiet, private street in the La Presa neighborhood of Guanajuato. La Presa is the quietest neighborhood in town, and an easy fifteen-minute stroll from downtown. If you're planning to study Spanish here, all the language schools are within walking distance. If you're just taking it easy, three of the best restaurants in town are less than ten minutes away.

A private entrance and a plant-lined patio lead to your apartment. The large main room is the living, dining, and kitchen area, with rustic but comfortable Mexican furnishings, all modern appliances, and a view overlooking the garden. (Help yourself to grapefruit from our tree!) Two steps across a small breezeway is the bedroom, which is furnished with a queen-size bed, a spacious wardrobe, and a nightstand. The bathroom is decorated with traditional Mexican talavera tile.

The kitchen is fully equipped with a four-burner gas stove and oven, a refrigerator, a microwave, a coffee maker, dishes, pots and pans, and complimentary purified water. Wireless broadband Internet service is available at no extra charge if you bring your own WiFi-equipped laptop, tablet, or smartphone. Secure off-street parking is available.

Your hosts live right next door. He's American, she's Mexican, and we're both bilingual. We're happy to offer tips on Guanajuato restaurants, language schools, and things to see and do around town.

La Casa Rosa apartment is self-service. We supply fresh linens weekly. Smoking on the patio only, please.

A word about our town: Guanajuato is the ideal vacation spot for the visitor who wants to see the ''real'' Mexico. Though large enough to offer a wealth of museums, restaurants, and shopping, this historic colonial city is also small enough to be friendly and accessible to the first-time visitor. It's the perfect place to learn Spanish, too, either at the University of Guanajuato or at a number of independent language schools. The three-week International Cervantino Festival in October is the biggest and most important cultural festival in all of Latin America.

Special discount rates are available for monthly or longer-term stays. To inquire, click the ''Send email" link to the right of the photos above.

We’ll say it again: You won't find a better deal on a one-bedroom vacation rental in central Guanajuato.

About The Owner

Don and Gela have lived in Guanajuato for seventeen years, and have rented this apartment for the past twelve years. Among the first to offer a vacation-rental apartment in Guanajuato, we know what travelers want, and we know Guanajuato like the backs of our hands. Our long experience also teaches us that every guest is different. If you want personal attention from us, we'll provide it. If you want to be left alone, we can do that, too. Finally, please note that the apartment is right behind our house. It's safe and secure, and our expert advice is right next door. As we say in México, nuestra casa es su casa. ¡Bienvenidos!

Wonderful hosts and beautiful casa in a quiet area

  • 5 of 5

My partner and I stayed one month at La Casa Rosa. We really enjoyed our stay thanks to Don and Gela's attitude: we couldn't expect more friendly and helpful hosts. Gela graciously shared her blender with me everyday. She also brought some fresh herbs and flowers to our kitchen. Don was always happy to give us advice for the rest of our trip in Mexico and on the best language schools in Guanajuato or where to go to get your hair cut. They are simply very nice people who really care about their guests. The casa is nicely decorated with Mexican ceramics and colourful fabrics and we enjoyed the quiet courtyard among pot plants. As for the location, you can walk to the center in 20mn and escape the city whenever you want, as the mountain is just around the corner. Don and Gela, thanks again for everything. That was a great pleasure!

Pleasant location and very well supplied.

  • 4 of 5

We rented 3 apartments in different towns on this trip in March 2018, all roughly the same price per day, so our comments are in comparison to the other apartments., which seems fair.

Don is very friendly and helpful, and communication was excellent. The apt. Is as pictured.

We liked the location. Even though it up a shortish steep hill , ( a 5 min. Walk ), at the bottom of the hill Paseo De La Pressa has:

The bus stops to Centro and return ( Don will explain how to use them ) They run often and are only 5 pesos. We sometimes walked to town, but more often took the bus, and an occasional Uber back to the apt.

An excellent coffee shop, Cafe Tal, with a great roof top patio. Just up the street is a park and lake and Casa Maria Bonita where we often had breakfast on the patio overlooking the park.

There are several other restaurants close and also convenience and produce shops. It is a friendly residential area.

The apartment, although the smallest of the three, is very clean and well very supplied with necessities, Don has obviously been conscientious about this.

Unusually, the bedroom is in one building, the kitchen and bathroom in another, separated by about 2 meters, so there are two lockable front doors. More locking and unlocking of doors than we are used to. There is also a lockable entrance door to the patio. Security seems good.

The bedroom is pleasant and has good bedding and a very nice storage cabinet, enough room to open up suitcases, 2 small windows, but a very hard bed. The kitchen / sitting room worked for us.

The bathroom is very compact but works fine, hot water is good. We didn't cook so can’t comment on that. The WiFi was reliable. Even though the listing says this is the quietest neighborhood in town, this was by far the noisiest of the 3 rentals, often dog barking and rooster noise. But, not much traffic noise and with the bedroom windows closed the noise is pretty well blocked and we didn't often need earplugs overnight.

In March the days were often hot, the nights cool. We were glad we bought warmer clothes. We used the heater sometimes. Nice to sit on the patio for a cool drink, and in March the Grapefruit tree was blooming with a lovely perfume.

We certainly enjoyed our stay in Guanajuato and found it the most interesting town, the apartment is in a pleasant area, and Don was an excellent host.

Owner's Response: Regarding the noise Peter mentioned, he and his wife visited over a three-day weekend in observance of a national holiday. Such events are generally celebrated in Guanajuato with plenty of fireworks, with which any dog within earshot tends to voice its displeasure. Fortunately, none of our immediate neighbors own dogs, so the barking is muffled by some distance. Some neighbors down the street do keep chickens, so the occasional rooster wanders past La Casa Rosa and makes its presence known. Part of the charm, I think, of living in México.

👍🏻 Lovely stay!

  • 5 of 5

Don and Gela were wonderful hosts. They are both bilingual so you can communicate in English or Spanish. They were eager to help us understand how to get around Guanajuato. The apartment is very tastefully decorated and the kitchen has just enough pots and utensils for whatever you want to cook. I would stay there again if I return to Guanajuato and I hope to! Don and his wife live on-site and were very helpful with our questions but gave us plenty of privacy. There’s a lovely patio/garden area with a table and chairs to enjoy being outside. It was a great experience!

This house was quiet, clean and private. It was clean and had all of the necessary amenities. The only thing we wish it had was a breezeway between the bedroom and the kitchen/bathroom. We were there for 4 weeks to learn Spanish. While the walk to town was about 20-25 minutes, it was a pleasant way to start every morning. If your not heading into town, there is plenty around La Presa. Don was very friendly and gave us our privacy. He was also helpful with local landmarks and places to eat. I'd recommend this to anyone staying in Guanajuato.

Fun & friendly

  • 5 of 5

We had only a short stay in Guanajuato, but this was a great place to spend it. Don & Gela were helpful and a wealth of information. The accommodations were clean and comfortable. The city itself is quirky and fun. Lots to see and do, easy access to public transportation. I highly recommend this city and this casita.
