LABOR DAY WEEKEND SPECIAL: The three nights of September 3, 4, and 5 are now available at Seanook. We are offering the weekend for $950 FOR ALL THREE NIGHTS for up to 4 people. If there are six of you, the rate will be $1200. All three nights must be taken, and YOU MUST CONTACT US DIRECTLY and pay by cash or check for these special rates. Call 207-633-6093 or email: paradisestudio@roadrunner.com.

We must start with a disclaimer. (If you can get beyond this paragraph, then please read on to find out what we are about.) WE, the owners, HAVE NOTHING TO DO with the "$184 AVG/ NIGHT" rate quoted top, center right by HomeAway. It is not relevant or accurate!!! and does not correlate to any of our actual seasonal rates, which vary too much for their computer to handle and are DESCRIBED BELOW and in the rates section.

The rates quoted below and in the rates section are our REGULAR PRICES.

To inform you about the "Book it Now" feature: it is fine to do that and pay the REGULAR PRICES by credit card. That would be to our advantage because it would improve our rankings in their "Best Match." However, if you prefer a DISCOUNTED rate AND are willing to pay by cash or check, please, PLEASE CONTACT US by the "SEND EMAIL" opportunity at the bottom of the column on the right, or where ever you find "Send a message," or just CALL us; we will be happy to chat with you and answer any questions you may have. If enough of you prefer paying us directly by cash or check with a $100+ lower fee, we will phase out of HomeAway/VRBO. Call us at 207-633-6093. Email paradisestudio@roadrunner.com. For more up-to-date photos and complete year-round rental information, visit our own website at www.seanookcottagerental.com.

Seanook is built on its own rocky point sequestered on the shore of Linekin Bay, just 3 miles from Boothbay Harbor. It is grandfathered uniquely close to the ocean; the tide comes in around and under it. Staying here is like being on a boat except it doesn’t rock The panoramic floor to ceiling windows and 4 decks put you over the water. See spectacular sunsets reflected in calm. On a rainy night the pitter-patter on the roof will lull you to sleep. Wake up to the call of seabirds and the lapping of little ripples. The ever-changing moods of weather wafting across water will entertain you on 3 sides year-round. See vibrant colors develop along the shore in October. In winter you can be toasty warm by the cozy fire, and watch ice floats and wildlife drift by. If you are lucky enough to get snowfall, the views are pristine!

Seanook is a long-time family cottage, now a nearly complete year-round home. Many choices of seating in the livingroom and sunroom will envelope you in comfort; the diningroom will easily handle six people. Ample spaces for togetherness, yet plenty of cozy nooks for alone time add to the relaxation of your vacation. Free wireless internet provided. The dock and float will be available from the end of June into October depending on weather. Even if you don't bring a boat, it is fun to spend time here riding the water. We now have three or our own personal kayaks and a rowboat which you may share with us and our other guests by signing our release. Come experience this rare historic spot just above the water while it is available.

A romantic getaway in any season -- you may find it relazing to just sit and watch the play of light and wind on the water. See seagulls, osprey, and an occasional eagle soar. You'll observe a variety of ducks in winter, and perhaps a seal or a beaver in summer. Read a book or sunbathe on the upper deck. Go beach-combing to discover varied creatures that abound along the shore of the Gulf of Maine. Go kayaking if it's calm. Anglers of any age can fish right off the dock. Writers find Seanook a peaceful private retreat where they can work on their manuscripts. Day hikes in one of the many land preserves are a favorite outdoor activity. How about a romantic sail at sunset? Many boat excursions are offered in nearby Boothbay Harbor. Perhaps you would like deep sea fishing. You will also find lighthouse tours, museums, and art studios starting with nearby Paradise Studio.

Some of the best eateries are right here in Boothbay. The East Boothbay General Store has morning paper & coffee, breakfast pizza and gourmet take-out. Live theater has a dramatic presence in Boothbay Harbor with events nightly at the Opera House, including Family Night on Tuesdays. Afternoon tea is a yearly tradition with some of our long time renters. Visit the aquarium in summer, where children's programs and classes enhance the intimate quality of their hands-on coastal experience. Take a short boat ride to Burnt Island where costumed guides reenact life of a lighthouse keeper's family in 1952. Go antiquing, or gallery hopping starting with nearby Paradise Studio. L.L.Bean and other outlets are just an hour away in Freeport.

DEPOSIT and CANCELLATION: One half the total rent or $1000, whichever is less, is payable in advance as a DEPOSIT to hold your time; the remainder of the rent, plus tax, OPTIONAL linen and pet fees, are due on arrival. If you are unable to keep your reservation, we ask that you reschedule at another available time, or you may have a refund less a $100 per week re-booking fee as long as you give us notice at least 30 days ahead of your arrival date and we are able to re-rent your time.

Discounted Winter rates begin October 29 and go through May 19, 2017.

Our WINTER SPECIAL: Rent two nights and get a third night free for $410 2 ppl, $499 4 ppl, $599 6 ppl; or rent a week and get 2 free nights, $1200 for 2 ppl. Specials will not be calculated by the HomeAway/VRBO computer, so please contact us. These rates are our DISCOUNTED PRICES for payments ONLY by cash or check; to pay by any other method including VRBO or HomeAway Payments please inquire for regular seasonal rates and let us know what payment method you want to use. If you call or send us an email and want to pay by cash or check, you will also avoid HomeAway's additional 6% traveler's surcharge fee payable when booking online.

*Also monthly: Jan. Feb. March at $1100/mo + utilities; $1250/mo in April; $1800/mo in May + utilities all for 2-4 people.

Here are our regular seasonal rates for Seanook:

July 2 - August 26, 2016: $3400/week

Winter at Seanook is a wonderful time for relaxing. You may sit by the fireplace stove, warm and cozy, yet surrounded by Nature; enjoy watching the weather waft across the bay, ice floats, and the antics of the various species of ducks as they dive below the surface and get chased by seagulls when they emerge with food. If you are lucky enough to get snowfall, the views are pristine. It is easy to make believe you are isolated! But with free Wi-Fi and superb Boothbay plowing it is a comfortable 'pretend!' Email or call us for more information or a reservation.

About Mary Ellen

When I purchased the family summer property, it needed complete revamping! I alternated a month in Colorado and a month in Boothbay while Paradise Cottage (my grandmother's summer house) was winterized and expanded, and Seanook (the vacation house of my childhood) was practically torn down and rebuilt. The early March morning after I arrived the final time to stay, I met Ron, who was working for my contractor on Seanook. Since then we have done all the work around the place ourselves. The following winter we built a scale model of our future shop/studio on the diningroom table and broke ground in August of 2000.

Mary Ellen purchased this cottage in 1997

Why Mary Ellen chose Boothbay Harbor Area

Seanook was purchased by my mother, a native Mainer, in 1947. At the time it was nothing more than a tiny three month summer bungalow, but as a child I loved the spot and everything about it . It was my life-long dream to return here to live. Now Ron and I stay on the property year-round. Every season is our favorite! We are forever changing and improving wherever we can. In everything we do we try to maintain some of the rustic seaside character of the place, and imbue it with our own personalities and creative curves.

What makes this cottage unique

To wake up every morning to the call of seabirds and songbirds and the quiet lapping of little waves, the varying moods of the ocean, the view towards the head of the bay with the sun creeping down that opposite shore, and the verdant Maine woods around is about as close to ideal as one can get and then to be bathed in fresh salt air all day long and to have that long view across the water right here for the looking any time gives one that relaxed 'aaah' feeling.

My husband and I have vacationed in the Boothbay

Harbor area for the past 23 years and have stayed

in a variety of inns, houses, and apartments.

Almost every year we have driven to or through East

Boothbay either to eat at Lobsterman's Wharf or on

our way to Ocean Point. We had no idea that just

off of the main road, there was a little piece of

heaven on Linekin Bay.

Our friends found Seanook Cottage on the internet

and booked the four of us for the last week of May.

We had the most relaxing, peaceful, wonderful

vacation there. The views from inside the house

and from the numerous decks are spectacular.

From our bedroom, the last thing we saw before we

closed our eyes at night was the full moon shining

on the beautiful water. The first thing we saw when

we woke up in the morning was the picturesque

sailboats and lobster boats. Across the bay, you

can see the architecture of both new and restored

houses and the Five Gables Inn nestled among the

wooded landscape. Just a short, brisk walk away

from Seanook through beautiful woods and along

the water is the wonderfully restored East Boothbay

General Store. They have a remarkable menu of

delicious salads, sandwiches, and pizza. And don't

forget the tasty breakfast pizza and muffins!

Seanook is only about three scenic miles from

Boothbay Harbor, where you can find a wide array

of shopping, dining, and harbor activities. The

Boothbay region is central to so much else in Mid-

Coast Maine, and daytrips are essential! Our

husbands played golf at the beautiful Samoset

Resort ("The Pebble Beach of the Atlantic"), where

most of the front nine holes are laid out along the

ocean. Pemaquid Point Lighthouse is a must and

one of our favorite spots. Freeport with all of its

great outlet stores is just a short drive away.

Seanook is undergoing a long restoration process,

but you will hardly know it because Ron and Mary

Ellen have made it so comfortable. I can't say

enough about their helpfulness and eagerness to

please their guests. Although you won't even

realize they are there unless you need them, it is

great to have your hosts so near by.

I must admit I hesitated to write these comments

out of selfishness. Seanook is like a rare gift that

you want to keep all to yourself! I can't wait until

our next visit. We feel that we have found our

home in the Boothbay region!

Just Perfect

We are a family of 3 and spent a week at Tidewalk this August. The house is well equipped with two bedrooms, two bathrooms, a living room and fully equipped kitchen with a dishwasher, stove and microvawe. There is a nice outside deck with a Weber BBQ grill which we have used. The house is in great condition and very comfortable. Marry Ellen and Ron are very kind and make sure their guests are comfortable and welcome. Tidewalk is just a few minutes walk to the water and we especially enjoyed being able to use the kajaks to paddle through gorgeous Linekin bay. The water was surprisingly warm and mostly calm, so that no prior experience with kajaks is needed. The setting could not have been more beautiful. A special highlight is Ocean point at the tip of the island where the ocean roars and offers impressive views. Boothbay Harbor is a ten minute drive and offers restaurants and small shops in a nice setting. It was never overcrowded. In addition there is a Yacht Club nearby which offers a great Junior Sailing and sporting program for kids. Our daughter enrolled in the 420 sailing class which she enjoyed thoroughly. We left with only the regret that our stay was too short and will certainly be coming back to this most beautiful and unique place.

Owner's Response: We sincerely appreciate this generous and enthusiastic review of our guests' stay at Tide Walk, up the road from Seanook. We hope that future visitors will take it as a general endorsement of what it is like to stay with us, even though it was written about a cottage other than Seanook.

What a perfect spot to get away from it all. You couldn't be closer to the sea. The house is very warm and cozy, and filled with lovely paintings and treasures, so there is plenty to see and do ... even in winter. Every room has a view. The house is very clean and well set up and cleverly laid out so everyone can have together time, as well as space for themselves if they choose. A perfect 'escape'.

Incredible Property !!

  • 5 of 5

Mary Ellen and Ron's perfect piece of paradise would be hard to sum up in a few words. I knew by the pictures and the reviews that it would be a great choice but you honestly have to experience this gem for yourself. We stayed at Seanook over a very cold few days in February where just venturing outside was for the brave but this home with it's stunning views, wood stove and comfy furniture so artfully decorated was the best prescription to decompress. Just to fall asleep with the sound of the wind and the water then to wake up in the morning, sit up in bed and look out over Linekin Bay.......priceless !! We still did venture out, walking the shore at low tide in front of the house, watching the many sea birds and the lone seal that floating by on a piece of ice that our grandson proclaimed was a " Walrus " !! Boothbay Harbor still has many of it's shops and restaurants still open in the dead of Winter and it's only a few minutes from the property. Hannafords Supermarket also is only a few minutes away, well stocked so you can cook a gourmet meal in Seanook's well equipped kitchen. I can only imagine what it must be like in warmer weather so have already informed Mary Ellen and Ron that " we will be back " !!.... and hope to grab a few days this Fall.

Thank you very much for sharing your home !!

IDEAL LOCATION

  • 5 of 5

If you are looking for the perfect coastal location, look no further. Seanook is literally located "on the water". The views from all angles are incredible. Whether you are sitting by the fire, cooking lobster in the kitchen or waking in the morning the first thing you will see are incredible water vistas. Seanook is pristine and perfectly equipped. My husband and I are "foodies" and we found all the utensils we needed. This is the ideal rental. We hope to return!!!

Seanook

  • 5 of 5

Arriving to watch the fog roll up and down over the harbor. The moon appearing through the fog and lighting a path across the water. Morning coffee on one of the decks and watching the boats and seabirds. BBQs and wine on the lawn. Seeing the golden sunset turn to the most vivid pink imaginable and spreading across the entire sky and filling the bay with pink. The Bald Eagle entertaining us as he swooped for a catch and back to roost in the tall pine on the island. Board games with our family late into the night. Our 31st anniversary. Seanook 2015.

Seanook is located in Mid-Coast Maine only three miles from Boothbay Harbor. Our unique spot at the head of Linekin Bay on our own tiny peninsula affords us water views on three sides including a tantalizing vista to the mouth of the bay and open ocean. You may decide to just sit and watch the play of light and wind on the water. Writers find Seanook a peaceful private retreat where they can work on their manuscripts.
