Simply stunning
There is no question, Tamarind House is beautiful. Absolutely stunning. Very spacious and full of character and charm. It felt a little like we were "living the dream". All comms from Nancy were good and the staff were friendly and helpful. For example, one morning the fire alarm in one of the bedrooms started faulting at 5am. Rather than call for help immediately we left it a while and then rang Paul Joseph for help. He was there in 2 minutes. All sorted. The pool area is fantastic under the stars and very clean, as is the whole accommodation. A couple of things to remember when visiting Tamarind: 1. A 4WD is a must. We were led astray a little by SIXT and led to believe that our car was AWD (Hyundai Creta). It wasn't. After a bout of rain were not able to get up the hill which leads to the property (out of Soufriere) and had to abandon the car and walk home in the dark and rain. Not great. The road to the property is not for the faint hearted. I know many people put this, but really, it is a bit of a test (as are a lot of the roads in St. Lucia). A couple of local taxi drivers, who knew the road well, tried to get our car up the hill. Even they could not manage it. Don't mess about, get a 4WD. 2. Bugs. Bugs.........ohhhh.......bugs. We were all eaten alive. The beds have nets around them which do help but all the doors in the house are slatted so mosquitoes very easily enter from the outside world big gangs!!!! I think maybe some bug netting curtains to pull over all the exterior doorways may help. Sitting in the evening with the lights on was a "no no" as it beckoned all kinds in from the woods!! After a couple of days we got used to it but it was a little testing. 3. Anse Chastanet and Anse Marmin beachs (both walking distance) are fantastic. 4. Gros Piton trail walk - I'm reasonably fit. It's a killer!! More of an SAS survival course than a hike.........give it a go. I got half way and then threw the towel in as it was roasting hot (we set off at 8am). The rest of the family managed to get to the top thus I was the brunt of a few jokes for the next 2 days! All in all, we had a great stay at a really beautiful and well maintained Tamarind House. Be in no doubt, it's worth a trip. Simply stunning.

A dream house, beautiful interior, in a perfect location with stunning views of the Pitons
Myself and my family and friends (there were 8 of us) stayed at Tamarind house over New Year, and had a wonderful time! The house is absolutely incredible! It has a beautiful, homey, almost rustic French feel, and is very open and spacious. I also loved how warm the lighting is in the house and on the terrace at night time...it made it feel really magical. The views from the house are stunning, I honestly dont think we could've found better on the Island. Waking up every morning to the Pitons and surrounded by amazing flowers and lush jungle was heaven! The two housekeepers Ann and Cheryl were so welcoming and cooked the most delicious meals. We chose to let them do the shopping rather than make the trips back and forth to town ourselves (which I would highly reccomend) and they knew where to go to get everything we would need. We had a few BBQs on the terrace, and Ann and Cheryl were happy to prep the food and leave it for us to cook in the evening. Myself and my boyfriend stayed in the cottage, which is separate from the main house (connected by the terrace that wraps around the house) and very spacious with it's own lounge and kitchen. We loved sleeping with the doors open (gates shut) and hearing the sound of the crickets at night. The pool area was great, with plenty of room to spread out and enough sun beds for everyone. Again the views are just incredible! Basically, we loved every bit of it, and cant wait to come back!! Nancy the owner was also brilliant at helping out with questions before we arrived and gave us loads of great recommendations for trips/restaurants/taxis etc. Thank you for having us!!

World Class View from every room.
Our family of four adults stayed for a week at Tamarind House. Looking down on the Pitons as you shower outside is an experience not to be missed. The house itself is very spacious and the layout offers remarkable privacy for guests. Ann and Cheryl took very good care of us and we wound up eating dinner in several nights as we enjoyed Anne’s cooking. Unfortunately we had a lot of rain during our stay but on the bright side, the rainbows were epic. Nancy was an excellent communicator and she was very attentive to details. St. Lucia has so many things to do but the snorkeling was definitely our favorite. We snorkeled in several different spots. We went to the Diamond Springs falls and Botanical garden (go early before the crowds) and for a sunset cruise. The kids went zip lining. When Nancy warns you about the road to the house please believe her. Driving on Anse Chastenet Road feels a lot like the Indiana Jones ride at Disneyland. It is an adventure unto itself! That being said, we got used to it and found it exhilarating. St Lucia is very beautiful with lovely beaches but the hotels have parked themselves on the best beaches and make them less accessible to non guests who have to park rather far away and walk. We enjoyed the simplicity of a burger and fries at Anse Mamin restaurant on the beach. Food was expensive in general and bring twice as much cash as you think you’ll need! Overall Tamarind House is gorgeous and exotic.

Lovely Tamarind House
The views of the Pitons, the ocean, and the sunsets--all framed by bountiful blooms of bougainvillea--were gorgeous! The living room, our bedroom, the pool, the dining table all had splendid views. The staff and homeowner were very accomodating. The road to get to the villa was tricky to navigate, and we missed air conditioning at times, but overall our family had a great stay!

I lived in St. Lucia from the early 1980's until 2011. Tamarind House was a private home and always open to friends and family. It is now open for memorable family gatherings by renting on VRBO. I can answer almost any question you might have about the Soufriere area. And I have a wide circle of people who can help to make your holiday a dream come true.
