Modern, cosy, comfortable apartment block Duplex Bencomo, 2 storeys, built in 2006. In the resort, in a quiet, sunny position, 200 m from the sea, 200 m from the beach. For shared use: property 183 m2, beautiful, well-kept terraced garden, 3 swimming pools heated (depth 120 - 160 cm, 01.01.-31.12.). Shower/WC in the pool area, children's pool. In the house: lift. Roofed, parking (for 2 cars). Supermarket, restaurant, bus stop 300 m, shingle beach 200 m. Guarded residence.
Generally we quite liked this property - but the first 24 hours there was awful. Although the meet time with the key holder was booked well in advance they turned up a full hour late with only the briefest of apologies. After we were given the key (the key holder we saw spoke no English) we found the internet, DVD and safe wasn’t working and all the towels were soaking wet on the drying rack outside – so wet we put them back through the spin drier in a vain attempt to speed things up (we were unable to shower until lunchtime the next day). We reported the internet/DVD/safe to the key holder who said it would be fixed the next morning. We waited in all morning but nobody turned up – an engineer finally turned up at 3pm to fix the internet so we wasted most of our day.
After that bad experience at the start, the property slowly started to grow on us. The upstairs outside space with the hot tub was quiet, very private & had excellent views. The rooms inside are not that large (the kitchen especially is small) – the quoted 183m2 must be including the outside space as well. I wouldn’t want to fit more than four people in this apartment.
For the high rental price we were expecting very high standards of finish, but the walls badly need either cleaning or re-painting (there are many dirty marks), the hot tub had a bad leak and I counted no less than 7 light bulbs blown but not replaced.
Overall we found the apartment expensive for the standard offered, but it’s in a great location and Palm Mar is perfect if you’re looking for a quiet place to base yourself in southern Tenerife.
Overall we had a great holiday, but had disappointments with both the apartment, and the managing agents, Interhome.
On arrival at the apartment on a Saturday, the keyholder informed us the Hot Tub was faulty, and she left it switched off. It could not be repaired until the Monday. When we returned late on the Monday it had been fixed but was still switched off, so we had to fiddle with circuit breakers. By Tuesday mid day it was still only a "Warm Tub", and only reached temperature on Tuesday evening. So a big disappointment.
The Wifi stopped working after a few days and was unavailable for a protracted time.
On booking we had a link from Interhome confirming that the property had air conditioning and a barbecue. We printed out the page. On arrival it had neither. Somehow between us booking and raising this with Interhome the page showed different details. Interhome stated this was a technical glitch.
So we raised these and another issue with Interhome. We were frustrated that they did not understand our complaints, but they did offer a small compensation for the Hot Tub and WiFi.
So 6/10 for the apartment, 3/10 for Interhome
