Things not to miss in the area: Venice Canals.... These date back to the beginnings of Venice over 100 years ago. The are about 1 mile away and a lovely place to walk. There are about 100 homes, each individual with special gardens and lovely features. Stroll the sidewalks for a peaceful time as ducks drift by on the canal. A small playground is there too if you have kids.

David and I have lived for several years in Venice. I'm a California native and David joined me from England in 2003. We both lead busy lives but have been so happy in running our new Vacation Rental business. We have met wonderful people from all over the world. We love Venice and hope you will too. You will never be bored in Venice. You can veg out or be in a whirlwind of vacation activity and you never know what movie star you might see! Venice weather is great too!
Alice Burston purchased this house in 2007
We built our vacation rental in Venice Beach because we love it here! Venice is a unique community with lots of interesting people, artists, musicians and just friendly Californians in general. We are a community in the midst of gentrification but trying to keep our ethic past intact. What's not to like, 30 min. (if not traffic) into the heart of LA and a 10 min. walk to a beautiful beach. Weather you can't beat!
The owners are so super nice and very welcoming! I rented this place with a few friends while we were on a business trip and every time we had a visitor they couldn't believe how amazing it looked. It truly felt like a home away from home. We have all agreed to use this exact same place when we return next spring.
4 NIGHTS HERE WAS NOT LONG ENOUGH.
EVERYTHING ABOUT THIS PROPERTY IS POSITIVE, LOCATION, COMFORTABLE,CLEAN AND GREAT HOSTS.
WOULD LOVE TO RETURN AND STAY LONGER TO EXPLORE ALL THAT VENICE BEACH HAS TO OFFER.
Great stay. Appreciate the proximity (1/2 block) to Whole Foods grocery store. Easy to get to/from the airport. Beach about 12 blocks away. Loved the place. Owners are great!
I can absolutely understand why many travelers rate this rental as a 5-stars. It is in a great location; with the beach, restaurants, and bike rentals only 20 minutes away from the property. It takes 5 minutes to walk to Whole Foods and CVS. Access to Route 1-the Pacific Coast Highway is so close and it is such a beautiful route to drive to the Santa Monica Mountains (a must visit if you like to hike). Additionally, the owner was very helpful (we had a question and she popped right over within minutes).
The only reason for four stars is to help other travelers with their planning. At night, especially since many places weren't open due to the holidays, we opted to stay in and watch movies. A TV, satellite TV access, VCR/DVD player, several video tapes, and DVDs were on hand, but we wanted to watch a Netflix or Amazon Prime film. Unfortunately, the provided TV was old and didn't have HDMI connections. Our family of four (parents and two teen sons) like each other, but huddling around a laptop to watch our films was a bit awkward.
Alice's home was a perfect mix of location, promximity and landing spot for us. We spent five days here and would definitely return. The neighborhood is beautiful and we loved walking to the beach everyday (equipped with beach chairs and towels), stopping at the coffee shop, and coming home to a sweet, charming house!
We had a fun time and we loved the upstairs roof top porch. Close to the beach but not too close. Venice beach doesn't seem to be the friendliest at night.
My parents, 2 teens and I stayed here in Nov. 2016. Plenty of space for 5.
PROS: Great location. Cvs, dollar store and whole foods in walking distance. A great Mexican restaurant, la cabana, within walking distance. Condo was clean, beds were comfortable. Washer-dryer was a great plus.
CONS: no air conditioning and no screen doors. It would be ok without air conditioning if you could open up all the doors to get a breeze. Problem is that there were no screen doors so cannot open the doors without letting in Mosquitos. There needs to be either air con or screen doors so the place can cool down.
BOTTOM LINE: Would recommend this place
Other Activities: go to the boardwalk
Golf: There is a public 9 hole golf course about 1/2 mile away. Penmar golf course. I have heard it is a nice course. This is a LA City owned course. There are also free, lighted tennis courts within walking or biking distance. There are 3 separate locations. We play on all of them and often you can walk right on.
Ski: We don't have snow but we do have the beach!!!
