The Cenare apartment is situated on the 2nd floor, under the roof beams, of a sixteenth century building located on the Sensa Canal in the Cannaregio Sestiere or quarter near the Venetian Ghetto.
Completely restaured in 2011 with great attention to detail, it looks to the west and to the south with views over the canal, over a garden and to the tall buildings of the historic Ghetto.
The dramatic space of the living area is enhanced by the ancient roof beams.
Exceptionally luminous and sunny, it is also quiet and comfortable.
It is an apartment in which to feel truly “at home!”
An overall area of 55 square meters includes a kitchen, living room, bedroom and bath.
The kitchen has a generous working area
suitable for the experienced cook. The owner has taken care of every detail including a wide variety of utensils, plates and dishes.
There is a table for 3-4 people.
The Living Room has a comfortable sofa (sofabed), two arm chairs and a wide writing desk.
The Bed Room has either a double bed (w 160 cm X l 195cm) or else two single beds.
The Bath Room is equipped with a large shower (80cm X 120cm) with a rainfall shower head.
The apartment is not suitable for children under 10 years of age
The north-eastern part of Venice’s Cannaregio Sestiere or quarter is particularly attractive with its three parallel straight canals, the setting for churches, palaces and minor houses alternating with gardens hidden by ancient brick walls.
It is a more open, airy and luminous part of Venice than other parts of the city.
One can stroll along these canals in peace and tranquillity, enjoying the beauty of the city without the crowds found in the main thoroughfares. Even boat traffic is less on these canals and much less noisy.
In this area there are still many shops, open air markets frequented by locals and delightful restaurants and café’s with waterside tables and live music in summer.
In only a few minutes you find the fruit and vegetable stalls of the open market at San Leonardo while the nearest supermarket (open on Sundays) is only five minutes away.
The Venetian Ghetto lies across the canal where children play in the tree lined square and visits can be made to the Jewish Museum and the historic synagogues

Lovely, Bright, Airy & Comfortable
We were greeted by Marta upon arrival at the apartment. She was helpful and friendly, giving us instructions on how to work, air con, stove, windows, etc. She also gave us a guide to local shops and recommended restaurants.
The flat was lovely; truly a home away from home: comfortable beds, well equipped kitchen, great shower, wonderful choice of music and books, plus quiet and efficient air conditioning. The flat is also tastefully furnished and decorated, bright, flooded with light, and the high, beamed ceilings and loft areas gave the flat an airy, spacious feeling.
We would definitely stay here again.
Lovely week in Venice, lovely apartment.
First of all, I read in a review that the stairs are difficult. They are not! The stairs are fine. Apartment is 2 1/2 flights up, lovely wide and easy stairs and the apartment is on the top floor with lots of windows and light. (And if stairs bother you - don’t go to Venice as you will walk up and down many stairs as you cross the canals.) There are even ‘wellies’ provided for the wet season but we were there in early May and had great temps and small crowds. It was perfect timing.
Marta was waiting for us when we arrived, and showed us the place as well as answering our questions about the area. She is lovely and helpful. I always try to rent a place directly from the owner rather than from a property manager and this is the case with this apartment. I feel it makes for a better experience.
Kitchen is well equipped. There is a clothes washer and a drying rack but best fun was hanging our wash out the window like the rest of Venice!
The apartment is in Cannaregio which is a nice quiet area of Venice with 2 vaporetto stops within easy walking distance. We became Venetians, hopping on and off the vaporetto to get to other parts of the city.
There is a dining area off the kitchen with table and 4 chairs. Living room is large and airy. Very very pleasant. The bedroom is large with plenty of closet space. Best of all was the modern bathroom with large shower.
We were there a week and spent everyday exploring Venice, often bringing food home to eat after a long day.
All in all it was a glorious visit and the apartment was a big contributor to our wonderful stay.
Thank you Marta.
A lovely apartment with all we could need
We loved the design and layout and from our point of view it was a very practical location. The neighbourhood was very quiet at night. There weren't hordes of tourists immediately roundabout yet there were excellent restaurants and bars close by. Marta was friendly and helpful and allowed us the use of books and CDs in the flat, not to mention the wellies we occasionally needed at high tide. The fact that it is on a relatively low-lying street is the only disadvantage.
A really pleasant apartment. Clean, bright and very comfortable.
Marta was so helpful. She met us at the apartment and explained how everything worked and gave us lots of useful information. The apartment is in a lovely quiet part of Venice with a nice local feel. There are plenty of food shops and restaurants. It is also very easy to walk or take a boat to the main sights.
Delightful, beautifully appointed and peaceful apartment.
This lovely apartment is everything that the photos promise. Set in a quiet section of Cannaregio, it is close to a selection of good restaurants, a well stocked supermarket,a beautiful indoor swimming pool and good transport links.
Marta is a sincere and thoughtful host who not only made us feel welcomed but also tuned into our creative interests and fully explained what Venice had to offer. The apartment is full of very personal touches and being a classical musician, I was surprised to see a well stocked CD library.
All of the rooms have outlook with some views of the canal which is the result of the apartment being on the top floor. It also is an apartment flooded with natural light, unlike many of the apartments in Venice which can be dark. The last set of stairs might be a little challenging for older guests hauling baggage, but we are in our late 60's and managed without too much trouble.
Lovely fresh linen is used on a comfortable bed and the bathroom is modern and very clean.
We both felt very much at home in this apartment and certainly enjoyed escaping from the tourist chaos of the popular attractions.
Totally satisfied guests.
A most beautiful apartment far exceeding any other we have ever stayed in .
A relaxing and very comfortable apartment with lovely chairs and big comfy sofa to lounge about on. Very well equipped kitchen. Wonderful eclectic selection of cds to play. Location was perfect in a quiet yet lively area of Venice with its own selections of cafes and restaurants , near enough to walk to the grand canal but within very easy reach of a vaporetto if feeling lazy . Big supermarket tucked away near by also. Will definitely return
