3BR, 2BA Chesapeake BayfrontHm in Md, huge picture windows, beautiful gardens
About Alicia Yowell
My husband and I purchased this property in 1980. We are in a community called Governors Run that is rich in history. Where our pier exists, it was formerly one of the oldest wharfs in Southern Maryland. At the turn of the century, it was a resort for Washingtonians. A group of us purchased the entire 15 home resort, each owning our individual homes. We have successfully turned into one of the more magical and beautiful spots on the Chesapeake. One day, I will write a book about this great adventure.
Alicia Yowell purchased this House in 1981
Why Alicia Yowell chose Port Republic
Beautiful sunrises and panoramic bay views make this three-bedroom/two-bath (sleeps eight) beach house spectacular. It's located on Maryland's western shore, just 45 minutes from Washington, DC. The area is rich in colonial history, as well as in fossils from the Miocene era. Enjoy miles of sandy shoreline, a 450-foot private pier, two-mile nature trail through deep woods, open recreational field, playground, and plenty of fabulous seafood restaurants. This is a magical place. I'm not sure there are words to describe the charm of our warm and inviting home on the bay. The views from every room are simply breathtaking! You'll truly feel like you are on a ship overlooking a vast body of water. The view is constantly changing -- either due to weather, or by the large variety of boats and birds. The house itself has 'yesteryear' charm combined with today's modern conveniences. It has a wrap-around porch that now includes the kitchen where your views are simply magnificent.

The place was so peaceful quiet. We were grateful for the fully stocked kitchen since I forgot the sugar for my coffee 😁
Neighbors were nice and we met a dog named Bean who we adore!
Our boys did lots of fishing from the pier and it was fantastic.
The house was wonderful and we really enjoyed our time there.
So glad you had a great time Ramina. As one client said to me that their vacation was a wonderland for their kids! They had the opportunity to crab, fish, find fossils, sharks teeth and other treasures of the bay.
Hope you can come back again. We enjoyed hosting you.
Wonderful stay in the Chesapeake Bay area
We had a wonderful time at Alicia’s and Greg’s House
The view of the bay is magnificent, The owners provided us with a lot of useful advices and recommendations. The communication with them was easy, efficient and helpful
The kids and us had a great time searching for sharks teeth on the private beach and playing in the bay.
The sunsets and sunrises were awesome
We really enjoyed our quick get away on the Western Shore. The views were all beautiful, all we wanted to do each morning was sit and watch the sunrise over the water, and relax the rest of the day. It was great get away that allowed us to stop and relax for a little while.
So glad you enjoyed yourself. We will be back in a few weeks and are excited. We have missed the sunrises from our bedroom. They sky is so brilliant, it makes you smile at the beauty of nature. I am always in awe when looking out the window to see the array of birds flying, the ships on their journey up and own Chesapeake and oh the sunrises and the sky. It is simply magnificent.
Beautiful home on the Chesapeake
This is a wonderful home with an awesome view of the Chesapeake. The sunrises are fantastic! The beaches are so much fun to walk. This is a great place to relax and listen to the waves. The home is very tastefully decorated.
Thanks Linda, So glad you enjoyed your time. We love our home and as you know it is our primary home. So many of our travelers have commented on how warm and charming our home is, it is so nice to hear how much folks appreciate a clean and welcoming home.
The area is rich in colonial history. St. Mary's County is just a few miles away and it is the home of Maryland's first colonial settlement. Solomon’s Island is a charming Victorian Village that has an abundant number of fabulous sea food restaurants with great ambiance. It also is the home to the well known Chesapeake Bay museum. It has displays that teach you about the fossils that you will find on our beach as well as the names of all the shark teeth. It also features the many different ships that sailed the bay for the past three centuries. At night they offer a variety of music festivals. We are only 45 minutes from Washington D.C.
