Our Southbank garden apartment, in the new heart of London, is 100 yards from The Thames behind The OXO Tower between Waterloo Bridge and Blackfriars Bridge.

Our apartment is on the first and second floors of a small, modern block of 16 apartments. The first floor comprises of a living room and full kitchen. There are patio doors onto a beautiful, planted deck with a table and chairs for al fresco dining. There is also a double bedroom and shower room on this floor. There is also a a third bedroom with bunk beds suitable for two children or one adult.. On the second floor is an en suite master bedroom overlooking the garden deck. There is an elevator.

We are very close to the cultural heart of London including The National Theatre, Hayward Gallery, Royal Festival Hall, National Film Theatre, Tate Modern, Globe Theatre and The London Eye. There are lots of places nearby to eat and drink to cover all tastes and budgets.

Location: We are ten minutes from two tube stops (Waterloo and Blackfriars), which have 5 lines between them as well as British Rail services. For the most picturesque walk along The River, we use Embankment Station, which takes 15 to 20 minutes depending on how many photos you take!

Eating: We have plenty of places nearby to eat including two very good restaurants in The OXO Tower, which have great views. There are lots of less expensive restaurants within a short distance, many overlooking The River, and a couple of pubs on The River that serve food and drink throughout the day.It truly is the best location in London!

David and Julia have always loved the culture of London's South Bank and when the opportunity arose to purchase an apartment they couldn't believe their luck.

They have an eight years' old son, Sebastian.

Julia is a professional, classical singer having trained at The Royal College of Music. Since the birth of Sebastian she has been a full time Mum fitting in the occasional concert.

David is a full time Dad and says it's the best thing he has ever done!

The South Bank is the vibrant cultural centre of London. Our apartment is near Tate Modern, the world's most visited modern art gallery and a host of other attractions including The Globe Theatre, St Paul's Cathedral, The National Theatre, The National Film Theatre, Hayward Gallery, The Royal Festival Hall, London Eye etc etc.

We are within walking distance of theatreland and Covent Garden and there are lots and lots of places to eat and drink to suit all tastes and budgets.

Public transport is fabulous particularly the RV1 bus which stops outside our apartment block and runs, mainly along The River, from Tower Hill to Covent Garden via Waterloo. It is a very frequent service. Taxis are abundant.

Superbly located London apartment

Superbly located apartment a stone's throw from the London Eye, with many of London's top attractions within walking distance. We never had to travel more than 6 tube stops to go anywhere that we wanted to go, including the O2, which we went to via a sunny boat trip on a Thames Clipper, and returned via the underground.

We were there on a sunny week, and the patio garden was greatly appreciated, as was the piano, which our 12 year old son loved.

There are lots of good local restaurants within 10 minutes, and Borough Market on Thursday, Friday and Saturday is fabulous for picnic fodder, fruit, cheese and mouthwatering cakes.

Apartment is well equipped and clean, with everything that we needed for our week's stay. Welcome groceries were much appreciated.

We will definitely book this again for our next trip to London.

This place is a convenient place to the city centre, neat and cozy for us.

David told us we were the 1st Malaysian to rent his Apartment since his 10 years with vrbo.com. We had a warm welcome and David ensured breakfast was available for the next morning. The garden area is nice for an outdoor tea during the spring. We would not hesitate to stay at David's again.

Easy access to everything ...

My family of four (kids 15 and 14) enjoyed our brief stay in David and Julia's South Bank apartment. It is a block from the Thames riverwalk, and within easy walking distance of small grocers; the Southwark, Waterloo and Blackfrairs tube stations; the Thames Clipper Bankside station; and attractions such as the London Eye and Big Ben. A bus stop around the corner takes you without transfer to Waterloo, the London Eye, the theater district and Covent Gardens. The courtyard garden of the apartment is pretty, the three bedrooms are clean and comfortable, and the living space was just big enough for the four of us to have our own space. Our lone frustration was appliances. We're not idiots, and yet we had to dive into manuals and waste time figuring out how to make the electric range and the washer/dryer work. On the bright side, all of those manuals were provided by the owners in a handy packet along with maps and tips. And the modern appliances worked, although drying clothes took ages. David and Julia were very responsive by email, and we were grateful that they allowed us to stop in early and drop off our bags before formal check-in later in the day. That allowed us to immediately head out and visit sites in London without dragging a bunch of luggage around. You can tell this was their family's happy home, with family pictures and books as the primary decorations. I'd personally de-clutter the flat for travelers by removing books. I think it would provide a more open feel. But that's just me. When factoring in the value, proximity and comfort of South Bank, you're going to be hard-pressed to find a better deal for a London apartment.

Nice flat, great location!

We really enjoyed our stay in this London flat. Plenty of room for 4 adults and 2 kids. The location was also great for walking to many things including the London Eye area, and a close walk to many things across the bridges. The tube station is about a 5-10 minute walk which was very easy, and the bus stops right in front of the flat so you could take a bus to the tube if you didn't want to walk. David was very easy to work with and we appreciated the grocery staples that he left for us. We would stay here again!

well located comfortable clean apartment

We enjoyed our stay at this apt. David and adorable Sebastian greeted us when we arrived (very easy check in!) and had stocked the refrigerator with breakfast essentials. What a welcoming touch! The apartment has the feel of a persons home and is very quiet, well stocked and comfortable. The courtyard is lovely and expands the living area which is as pictured but is not large. The apartment is clean and very close to everything. One of the bedrooms has bunk beds which worked well for our teenager but which adults may want to consider. Nearby, there are tube stops, cultural attractions, the Burroughs Market (too crowded at Saturday lunch but otherwise great), and central London. This was a good find for the price for our family of four.
