About Charlie Roame

I was born in the state of Tennessee but moved away many years ago. When my vacation time came around I decided to go back to my home state. I chose to rent a log home and immediately fell in love with the beauty & craftmanship of the logs. I found that they offered a sense of peace and tranquility which I've never known. I can't think of anything more peacefull then sitting by the fireplace and reading a book.

Charlie Roame purchased this chalet in 2005

Why Charlie Roame chose Tennessee

The location of the home is in close proximity to the Great Smoky Mountains and offers awesome views.

Great Trip!

  • 5 of 5

Four generations so it was perfect because we had plenty of room

We did have 4 vehicles which made turning around at the top a little tough but overall it was very accommodating View was gorgeous and very peaceful when sitting on the porch

Thanks for everything!

Great family vacation home

  • 5 of 5

We had a fantastic time on vacation here. The porches and view were amazing and everything (including bathrooms) was quite clean. We loved the space in the kitchen and the mini bar downstairs was AWESOME. A few recommendations though... the driveway is quite steep so if you have a low sitting vehicle be very careful driving up and down. My car was scraped on both the front and back bumpers by the driveway to the point it removed paint. Also the trash can meant to be "bear safe" is very flimsy. It would have been better if moved further from the house. My sister was quite terrified to wake up to a bear outside her window tearing the door off the trash receptacle at 4 am... With that said we totally understand that you are in the smokies and bears are sometimes unavoidable...

Owner's Response: Thank you for your comments. The best views of the surrounding mountains can only be seen by driving up the asphalt driveway to the top. Trash cans, are in the process of being replaced with "Bear Safe" cans.

Beautiful home with a great view.

  • 5 of 5

I was very fortunate to spend a few days with my family enjoying the beautiful scenery of the Great Smoky Mountains. Drove up to Clingman's Dome and also visited Cades Cove. Enjoyed the many fine restaurants and I especially enjoyed the Hatfield & McCoy dinner/theater. I definitely would go back. The cabin was absolutely beautiful and it offered great views of the surrounding mountains.

My family and I enjoyed our stay.

  • 1 of 5

I was surprised that 3 stories however we enjoyed our stay. The road was also quit a surprise as we are from the flat lands of Louisiana and did not expect what we called the duck head, however we managed just fine and enjoyed it. It has given us a great time telling our friends back here in Louisiana about the tight turns going up to our cabin.

Good place to stay.

  • 4 of 5

Good place to stay. Enjoyed our vacation and hope to go back. There were a few things that could be improved. The water pressure was terrible. The driveway was really steep and there wasn't a lot of room to turn around at the top. The cabin was clean, but not as clean as I would have liked. The showers had mildew and hair left in them and the floors weren't very clean. It was an overall enjoyable trip and I would go back. It would just be helpful if some things were changed and improved!

Super Nice Cabin

  • 5 of 5

Our family enjoyed our stay at the cabin. It was one of the nicest we have rented in the last 25 years. Roomy , nice large dining table for a large group, plenty of seating. Bedrooms were well furnished . Kitchen and bathrooms had everything needed. Only problem was the driveway. It was way too steep and no turn around space with more than one car. The view was breathtaking and for excitement a bear right behind the cabin on the first day.
