Good location and family friendly
Overall, we were happy with our stay at Westgate. It’s close to universal park & the shuttle to the park was helpful, so we didn’t have to worry about parking at the park.
Our condo was very spacious and a perfect size for a family of four. It was generally clean but had definite wear & tear. Slight mold in the shower, dusty baseboards & vents...but I’m a neat freak so I don’t think it would bother most people. Having said that...the units do need some maintenance. Our toilet broke, but they did send a repair man in a timely manner. The elevator in our unit broke upon check in and we had to lug our belongings up the stairs to the 3rd floor. They offered to move us to another building, but we chose that unit because we wanted the lake view and not a pool view. They also have issues with keeping up with the garbage. Throughout the entire week, the garbage dumpster in the stairwell was over flowing with garbage & a raccoon was eating out of the dumpster. I came around the corner to come face to face with a raccoon! I complained and they said that it’s because everyone throws their garbage there & it attracts the wildlife. The only other issue was the bridge to the sunset island. As you walk across, you repeatedly get small electric shocks! I spoke to the man & he said that they are aware & call it shock bridge! That made me a little nervous with water & electricity with my children!
Overall though, we did like the resort. My son loved fishing in the lake & we rented bikes, played mini golf & bowling. The staff is friendly & helpful, The food in the restaurant was good.
