Catalina Island known as the island of romance is the perfect choice for visitors looking to escape and experience the warmth of a small-town in a fun island destination. Catalina has a year-round Mediterranean climate with warm sunny days and cool evening breezes. Fun activities include scuba, diving, snorkeling, kayaking, fishing, horseback riding, golf, parasailing, shopping, or just relaxing on the beach.
Our Catalina home is a wonderfully warm and sunny cottage just 2 blocks from the beach, shops, boating, and other entertainment. It is located on “the flats” in the center of town for an easy walk to all destinations. It has 2 bedrooms, 1.5 baths and sleeps up to 4 people. The home is decorated with a cheerful Catalina/beach theme. The home is available for a two night quick get-away for an extended rejuvenation stay.

I had to give this place 5 stars. The price afforded us to vacation without stress. This little house was built in the early 1900's I believe. It was very small, but really clean. No one has air conditioning in Catalina, so during the day it can get hot, once you open the windows, cools right down. So convenient, the lil house is just a quick walk down the street to all the little shops (the lil Vons grocery is on the same street) It has two small bathrooms but only one with a shower. We loved it because it was perfect price for the perfect time that I had and maybe if I needed to cook, that might be inconvenient, as it is quite small. Deborah, the owner, was very easy to reach. Never had a problem getting a question answered. If you are looking for high end/ fancy, this isn't the place for you. But quaint, clean, cozy, I would do it again.
Great location. Great place for my family to relax in between our activities.
We were there in August for 5 days and the house was so hot inside that you could not stay in it for any time during the day or early evening, even with the two ceiling fans and a portable one (no air conditioning). Part of the reason is the stove is very old and the heat from the pilot light is so hot it heats up the kitchen area. The refrigerator took 3 days to cool down enough for food to be stored in it, the counter space to prep food is 2 feet by 2 feet, the utensils were limited (no spatula, 2 steak knives, etc..) as well as glasses ( although there were plenty of wine glasses and coffee cups). The house looked clean but when I spilled on the kitchen floor and wiped it up the rag was black!
The house was a good size for us, cute beach style. We were there during a heat wave so with no a/c it was rough! We couldn't be in the house from like 10-6 which was really hard cause we have two small kids. Once we got home we opened all the windows but it didn't cool down really til the sun went down. There was a big fan there which saved us! There is a room with bunk beds which was a surprised because it's not in the pictures. My kids LOVED that. Overall good stay, biggest complaint (besides the heat which is out of anyone's control, no one has a/c in Catalina. If you need a/c, stay in a hotel) is the middle room's bed was SO uncomfortable. Another issue was the neighbors, one night the neighbors next to us and behind us were so loud! Like til 2am! (and they are permanent residents). But then the next night they were all quiet, so it just depends I guess. I recommend for pricing and location, just be warned of the heat and possible loud neighbors.
The house was decorated nicely. Nothing fancy but comfortable. We enjoyed opening the front window every time we came back to the house for a rest which helped cool it down pretty quickly. The kitchen was adequate with all the utensils needed. We did purchase a new can opener (we accidentally broke the one that was there trying to open a bottle of wine) and left it for future guests. :) The house was bigger than expected and the layout was a bit unusual but nothing we didn't mind too much. We really only have a couple complaints, first, the beds are very firm (which makes for very poor sleep when you're not use to it) and second, every morning it sounded like someone was always going through the trash and recycled stuff out back and that was very loud for 7 am. Otherwise, we went with the flow and enjoyed our visit for 5 nights.
We enjoyed our 2 night stay here, felt a little bit like staying in a small camping lodge. An unique experience being in town where all the golf carts go zipping by. No need to rent one, everything in walking distance including trails. Though we didn't need AC (still cool during May), there was none and natural draft was limited. A shame about the water shortage but that is everywhere in southwest. I would recommend this place but don't expect the Ritz. Small, quaint, creaky, and a great location in town.
