|Minimum Stay||3 nights|
We have a cozy two bedroom, one bath unit that sleeps four to six, with a full size bed in each of the two bedrooms; and a queen size sleeper sofa in the living room. Our home is very comfortable with a fantastic yard right on Lake Erie. The home is on a hill overlooking the lake, but there is no beach. There are several nice beaches close by. The unit is completely furnished and in a very convenient location. You can enjoy sitting in the large yard, relaxing, playing games, barbecuing and viewing the sunsets in the evening. There is a fire pit available and we also have bicycles. Our homes would be ideal for a family gathering or nice getaway. Please note the calendar is for the 2 bedroom.
Vermilion is a quaint little town situated right on Lake Erie with its own beach and boardwalk. We are two miles from the Public Boat Ramp in Vermilion. The downtown area has several restaurants and ice cream parlors and a very popular French restaurant. The Great Lakes Maritime Museum is also located on the north end of town. There is usually something going on downtown during the summer months; such as Music in the Park, antique car shows, in June we have a Festival of the Fish and of course we cannot forget the internationally famous Woolly Bear Festival in the fall. Who would think a little orange and black worm could have its own festival.
We are 45 minutes from downtown Cleveland and 25 minutes from Cedar Point. Kalahari Water Park and Great Wolf Lodge are just as easily accessible. Catch a Ferry to the Lake Erie Islands, Put-in-Bay and Kelly's Island.
NEED MORE ROOM?
Our rental home is a duplex; therefore it would be a fantastic place for a family gathering. Rental for both units would be $1100.00 per week.
The pictures are of the two bedroom unit. Both bedrooms are similar in size and decorations. If you are interested in the 1 bedroom, call or email me and I can send more pictures. Both units are very similar; in that they both have the knotty pine walls, but diferent furniture. The 2 bedroom could sleep 4 or 6. The one bedroom has a queen size bed in the bedroom. We could provide additional sleeping ie. air mattress for two more people in the one bedroom. You must be 25 years or older to rent. The calendar pertains to the two bedroom only. There is no smoking inside our home.
My sister Karen and I would like to say thank's for our vacation at your cottage last week.
It was a perfect location for the various activities we planned.
(Rock and roll and Pro football halls of fame. White sox/Indians game.Put-in-bay boat trip, etc.)
Plus the relaxing atmosphere of the lakefront made it a great week.
Thanks again to John and yourself.Hope to see you again someday.
Words can not describe this place. My wife & I were more than blown away by the cottage. Owners were more than kind and made sure that all of our needs were met before they left on their own trip. Definitely recommend this place for a nice getaway.
Ellen and John are wonderful hosts. They were very helpful when we needed something or had a question. The view from the house is spectacular....an unobstructed view of Lake Erie, with fabulous sunsets. We enjoyed watching the birds come to the feeders, especially the hummingbirds. The hammock was very relaxing, especially at night looking at the stars with my son. The house is adequate but lacks a washer/dryer, and when traveling with children I prefer to have this amenity. But there is a laundromat very close. Overall we very much enjoyed our stay. I caution people with young children who might be impulsive: there is a very steep and rocky cliff; there is no lake access.
We so enjoyed our stay at your home. It was the perfect size for our little family. Very quiet and comfortable. We enjoyed walking around the neighborhood and taking in the beautiful view of the lake. We would recommend your home to anyone visiting the area. Thank you for making us so comfortable.
This was the second year for our yearly 'sister trip' to John and Ellens cottage overlooking Lake Erie. They met us like old friends, and we took a few minutes to see "how everyone was doing", and then settled in to enjoy the peace.
Well, somewhat a measure of peace,,, there had been bad storms, and the lake was rough and pounding! Since the cottage sets on a bluff ( with no way down to the beach ) , we were content to watch and listen from a distance, while we enjoyed catching up with our own lives and having coffee. The sister part came into play late that first night when another storm howled through, and Linda came to wake me. She didn't want to be up by herself.☺
If you're looking for fancy and stilted, this rental isn't for you. However, if you are looking for comfortable, relaxing, and homey with a great, unobstructed view of Lake Erie, and rental hosts who are super to work with, this just might be the place. We 3 sisters hope to go back next year......Ellen and John, we thank you.........Phyllis,,Linda,,,and Joan
Once a year my sisters and I try to get together across the states and spend a week enjoying each other's company. This year was especially hard since we had just lost our oldest sister in May. John and Ellen's little cottage proved to be the perfect choice. We rented the 2 bedroom side of the cottage.
The unobstructed view of the lake was about 75 feet across the lawn, and could be seen from the living room. (There is no way down to the water) There were several chairs, a picnic table, swing, and hammock to enjoy on the lawn. The huge trees and squirrels were an added treat. The cottage was clean and neat. The little grocery store across the street was handy since we needed a few items. Our hosts were very friendly and helpful, but not interfering. We hope to go back next year if everyone's health allows it. Thanks John and Ellen for a peaceful week.

Very clean, great view, quiet. We would stay here again and recommend to others. The listing and photos represented the place well. The owners were helpful and cordial.
