Perry and Ernie Smith live in Plantation, FL and spend the summers in beautiful Greene County, Great Northern Catskills.
(Mrs.) Perry Smith purchased this farmhouse in 2010
Mrs. Perry Smith was an absolute pleasure to work with. The house was clean, well packed with everything needed and more with plenty of extra. Our group was a full house (12 people) and never felt that we were on top of one another. The mudroom was perfect to place all our ski gear and snow boots. I would recommend this house for large groups and getaways. We all loved the fire pit in the backyard! We will definitely keep this in mind for next time.
Our whole family was so happy to arrive and see such a lovely setting for our country Ingalls family reunion. We were greeted by a lovely country kitchen that was bright with sunshine. Each room was clean and decorated with care; and each bed was more than comfortable. I cannot think of one thing that I needed during our visit. We enjoyed the outdoor fireplace while having a glass of wine and watching our grandchildren playing in the yard. Nearby was pumpkin and apple picking and then back to the farmhouse to make pie and cut out our Jack-O-Lanterns. Thank you for the wonderful time.
Our group of 12 adults and one toddler stayed here for two nights over NYE weekend. (it was a 3 night minimum but we were unable to stay the 3rd night due to other commitments - the price was still terrific even for just the 2 nights) From the very beginning Perry was responsive to all of my inquiries and very informative about the house and what it has to offer. The upstairs bedrooms are for the most part connected, with the exception of one. So my only advice would be if anyone requires a ton of privacy, then I'd take the downstairs bedroom or the one separate bedroom upstairs. We loved the set up and found it cozy and comfortable. All bed linens, towels, paper products and soaps were provided, and we were told to help ourselves to any staples in the pantry (of which there were a lot!) Furthermore, Perry and her family had just stayed at the Farmhouse over the Christmas holiday, and they left us a nice bottle of Prosecco in the refrigerator as a welcoming gift! The kitchen had absolutely everything we needed for cooking and serving. There's a pool table that converts into a ping pong table, and the living room area is a great place to gather in front of the fire and play games. The kitchen table sat 12 plus baby easily. We never even left the house for the 2 days, 2 nights we were there. It was the perfect way to ring in 2016. Great house with a great vibe! Highly recommend for a casual group getaway.
We loved this house. We needed a home in the area where we could come with our two kids and also entertain our local family. This place was perfect!
The owner was gracious, prompt and so helpful in organizing and accommodating us. Really great to work with, and it felt more like renting from a friend than a total stranger.
The housekeeper did a fantastic job cleaning the place before we arrived. Every bathroom had folded towels, all the rooms were made up with the best kind of linens. Soft sheets, and blankets that you get at your country relatives home: cotton throws, down comforters and soft quilts. I seriously loved all the linens so much, and when you're not at home, having a comfy bed is a must.
The kitchen is perfectly stocked. We made several family breakfasts and had a few big family dinners and there was ample flatware, pots, dishes etc.
There was also plenty of firewood to keep a fire going during the chilly days, and the ping pong/pool table were so much fun. The big table came in handy so there was always plenty of room for eating, kids crafts etc.
Also, the porch swing was so ideallic, if it had been a little warmer out I would've sat on it and drank tea all morning.
I would definitely rent this house again if needed, and have nothing but good things to say about it.
My friends and I just spent a fantastic weekend at The Farmhouse. We looked at maybe 20 houses online before coming upon this one, and our search was over! The house and easy-going owner, Perry, provide everything you need or need to know, from amenities at the house (ping pong, pool table, fire pit, lots of land for lawn games, comfortable sleeping arrangements, a DVD collection, plenty of parking, etc) to area attractions. Plus, it's very quiet, spacious and private - and we had 12 people! Once we picked up our groceries on Friday, we didn't leave the house the rest of the weekend! We wouldn't hesitate to go back!
Our stay at this house was great. We were 4 couples looking for an annual weekend getaway. This house was perfect. It had plenty of room for us to sleep, cook and just " hang-out". The farmhouse was clean and fully equipped to make us feel right at home; extra towels, blankets, soap, etc. it had it all! The pool table, movies and games were an added plus! Perry ( the owner) was extremely caring, helpful and a pleasure to deal with.
Thank you for sharing your Farmhouse with us and allowing us to create another year of memories!
