About Susan Deichsel
The casita was newly built in 2008 as a secondary structure behind our home in the Old Town/ Downtown neighborhood of Albuquerque and was therefore built to be exactly what it is. It was envisioned to be the kind of elegant, comfortable, private, and friendly place it is. And, we aren't just pet friendly, we love pets! We think of our cottage as a budget friendly, special accommodation for those who do not like the hustle of hotel travel. Dick and Susan live in the house in front (that's us) and try to give our guests enough personal attention to feel attended to, and enough space and privacy to feel as if they are truly away from their everyday lives in a special place in the quirky and historic center of the gorgeous Southwest, Albuquerque.
Susan Deichsel purchased this Studio in 2008
Why Susan Deichsel chose Downtown
We actually purchased the house in 2006 to use it as a short-term rental, but we were so quickly insinuated into the fabric of this very special community that we decided to stay on-possibly forever. I ran for Mayor of Albuquerque in 2017, so to say we love this city would be putting it mildly. But I was still determined to have a short-term rental, so we remedied that problem by building this secondary building that includes our flat that was designed to be exactly what it is, and an awsome garage. We had fortunately purchased our house in a neighborhood where zoning allowed such things. We wanted the flat, or casita as they are called in this part of the world, to be optionally walkable and bike-able to many of the neighborhood attractions and to also be near the historic center of the city, so that it wouldn't just feel as if it was just a suburb, that could be anywhere. . It is therefore not large, as is the case in central city locations, but has just the right mix of both interior features to enjoy and hassle free attractions to avail oneselves of. You will feel right at home in La Casita Rosada, with owners who treat it like a business but also offer the 'high-touch' usually found at special resort properties.

Great accommodations and location.
Great accommodations. The hosts were the GREATEST. We were very thankful for their assistance.
Hopefully, the trip home was uneventful and you are both feeling fine. Thanks again for choosing us. It was our pleasure to help.
Had to cancel last minute due to a death but Susan was a great communicator and if I ever make it to NM I will seek her place.
We were referred to Susan by a friend who has a friend in common with Susan, so we knew that this would be the perfect place for us. This lovely casita in the historic downtown area of Albuquerque was the perfect home away from home for our 11-day visit. Very walkable neighborhood, including to Old Town and all the easily accessible conveniences of a nearby local grocery store, coffee shop and restaurants. It is beautifully decorated and provided us with everything we needed - a well-stocked kitchenette, spacious bath with lush towels and all the amenities, and an amazingly comfortable king-sized bed. Just the right space to relax after full days of exploring.
Susan is a great host - gracious, warm and extremely knowledgeable about all things Albuquerque and New Mexico. We really enjoyed getting to know Susan and her husband and look forward to coming back to see our new friends on our next visit!
Thanks for your kind review, Mary. It was delightful having you two in our casita. Isn't it interesting how networking works? So glad you came to have a look around our beautiful state and we hope to see you back.
It was a beautiful place to stay. Loved the little casita.
We had a few days before the closing of our house. Susan's casita is a beautiful, warm house where we could relax, enjoy furnished cooking facilities and most of all they welcomed our dog. This is a 5 star property. Consider this when coming to Albuquerque. It is beautiful.
Thanks so much for your kind review, Jan.
We try very hard to offer a comfortable, attractive and well-equipped vacation rental, but we especially love our four footed visitors. Thanks for choosing us.
A true gem in Albuquerque
We had a wonderful stay in Albuquerque! Susan was a wonderful host, and she provided us with some wonderful recommendations for places to eat and visit. The property was as advertised, clean, and the kitchen was equipped for us to make a few meals (the frosty mugs in the freezer were a pleasant surprise!).
We felt right at home, and we would absolutely stay here again on any future trip to Albuquerque!
Thanks Amanda. What a pleasure to have you both.
