We give five stars for this apartment and thank Tanja and her family for their welcome. The apartment is very comfortable, quiet, warm and well equipped with everything you need for a comfortable visit. We enjoyed exploring the city using the trams which run nearby and connect with the underground. We also ate several times at a friendly local restaurant which was hidden away and Tanja told us about. We would certainly go back and stay again.
It's hard to rate a property at 5 stars, this property deserves at least 4 1/2 stars. The apartment is immaculate and very well furnished. While we never met Tanya because she was on a surprise trip away, she arranged for a friend to let us in which was done very easily. The area is a working class area with very good restaurants nearby. We ate at the Mariahilferbrau, it was very nice and inexpensive. The day before we left we were treated to a once a year festival held in front of the apartment. That in itself was a treat! My wife and I walked to Schonbrunn Palace where we caught the Hop On Hop Off bus. It was worth the 48 hours pass with an extra day thrown in. I would definitely stay here again!
We enjoyed our stay in the Reindorfgasse. Tanja took her time with us and explained all the apartment conveniences (expresso machine, TV with international access, dishwasher, washing machine, and the internet.) There were helpful brochures at the apartment. There was a Billa supermarket across the street, and an art gallery nearby. There's a great pizzeria down the street, with a comfortable courtyard, where you get the best pizza and salads at a great price. The apartment is super modern, with windows overlooking the courtyard, not the street. It's in a charming, renovated older building, with a lift. The building itself has "old country," Viennese charm. There's even a Tabak in the Reindorfgasse. It was so quiet and relaxing. The master bedroom bed was very comfortable. We had no car, so we enjoyed the easy access to the quick U Bahn (subway)at Langendorfstrasse and the street cars. Mariahilferstrasse is now a pedestrian zone after the West Bahnhof. We felt very safe. The neighborhood merchants are very helpful and friendly.
This is a great place to stay! Our host did was terrific and the apartment was perfect for our family's needs. Highly recommended!
This apartment was fantastic, very clean and well maintained! Tanja was very warm, welcoming and helpful. We were a 5 minute walk from our daughter who was studying abroad and she loved the apartment also. Was nice to have her spent a couple nights on the sofa sleeper! Always had hot water for showers, washing machine was very nice to have (ask Tanja how to run it) and the drying rack worked perfect, espresso machine..to die for!! Lots of brochures available even though our daughter already had spots picked out to show us. Metro transit easy to use and fairly close by. Must go to restaurant/pub down the street (can't remember name) fantastic food and service. Will request this apartment if we make it back to Vienna some day. Thank you Tanja so much!!
My correspondence with Tanja the apartment owner gave me confidence that this was the right place for me from our first contact. She was so helpful and available. She helped me make less expensive taxi reservations from the Airport in advance and then met us at our apartment door when we arrived. The building is just once block off the main road leading the the Schonbrunn with a tram and connections at both ends with major terminals for the underground. She helped my husband buy tram tickets at the Tabacc shop down the street and gave us maps and info about which tram # to use.
The building itself is being restored in an area that is undergoing lots of renovation. The old wooden door leads into a courtyard and the apartment itself is one floor up either by a curved staircase or elevator. I gasped a bit when I walked in for the first time by the beauty of the wood floors, tall doors leading through the apartment to each of the 4 rooms and the beautiful light flowing in all the tall windows. At night we discovered it was quiet and peaceful because we were not overlooking the street. The apartment has old world charm with modern appliances, furniture and amenities. Everything is fresh and new from her renovation.
I also had the delightful experience of living in a real neighborhood and less of being just a tourist. There is a little grocery store across the street and on the corner there is a combination bicycle shop, designer clothes store and cafe with great cups of cappuccino and homemade vegetarian soup and quiche fresh every day. I loved riding the tram with the Viennese people going to work and school and the underground when I wanted to get to special points of interest.
Tanja was a beautiful host and remained helpful throughout if we needed her. The hallways leading up to the apartment are a work in progress but no worries. When she opens the door to your new Vienna home, you will feel the warmth and beauty immediately. We really enjoyed being able to prepare our own breakfast and other meals when we chose in a well stocked kitchen with all the applicance, pots and utensils there for you. Her rates were also a welcome treat when we compared them to other rentals available
