The accommodations have been renovated to a 5-star level, and offer hotel-quality luxury. In just 5 minutes, you'll find yourself in the Zugspitze water park and train station, as well as near stores and most of the town's restaurants! The 4-star Alpenhof hotel is just 10 metres away. The Garmisch resort is a 5-minute drive from the house.
Children are more than welcome.
The sleeping accommodations:
The flats have been completely renovated in a Bavarian style with lots of love and plenty of wood. The solid-wood beds recall a romantic past!
You'll feel great with us, no matter where you're coming from! We don't just speak German, but also Spanish, English, Romanian and some French, as we have spent 25 years outside of the country.
We look forward to your visit!
The Sankt Anton house is exactly 100 years old and is modelled on a small high Bavarian castle (or Schlösschen, as we say) with traditional Bavarian house painting and a small private forest. It's an oasis of peace with a unique mountain view - and yet it's close to everything! The history of the house is also every bit as interesting as the location, and we'd be happy to tell you more!

Of all the VRBOs we stayed in while in Germany for 4 weeks, this is one of our top choices. It is in a great, quiet residential location, walking distance to restaurants, hiking, etc. & an hour away from Neuschwanstein (take the secondary roads for a beautiful drive). Beautifully decorated, sweet little coffee machine & the best part was the soft bedding/linens, comfortable beds, lots of pillows & soft towels. The bath soaps were much appreciated too. Most VRBOs seem to miss the 'pamper your guest' boat --but not here.....it was a real treat.
We had a very comfortable and relaxing stay in Sankt Anton apartment. We travelled from London without a car and we're delighted at how easy it was to walk to the village shops, local restaurants, swimming pool and local zugspitze railway offering links to lots of other beautiful places and the main rail network from Garmischpartenkirchen. The apartment was clean, comfortable and had lots of character. A brilliant coffee machine with complimentary coffee. The apartment had daily cleaning which was great and the owners were v helpful. Our daughter aged 6 loved this holiday as there is a fantastic outdoor swimming complex, crazy golf about ten mins walk away and a wooded play area nearby. We would def recommend this as a great place to stay.
We had a wonderful time here! We stayed in 5 different places in Europe and this was by far our favorite house. There was ample space for family of 4. We ordered the breakfast one morning and it was absolutely delicious and filling. We even had enough leftovers for lunch. The location is great. In a tiny village, but within minutes to stores, restaurants, and Garmisch by car/bus. We definitely hope to come back someday and miss it already!
Our experience was perfect. The house had everything you could want...comfy beds, 2 modern bathrooms, kitchen, outside deck with table and chairs, a delightful little coffee maker with tasty coffees! The decor was charming and immaculate. The outside area flawlessly kept. We loved it. Next time I come I will book it for a week. The small town of Grainau was so pleasant and beautiful....it has a peaceful country style. You could walk in every direction and be delighted by the sights and sounds (sheep, cows, church bells, forests...) Book this place if you go to Grainau or if you were planning to stay in Garmisch...rethink and stay in Grainau. I did just realize this can easily be done if traveling by car...no so friendly if traveling by train.
Grainau is where you want to be, a little outside the more touristy area of Garmisch, and right in the shadow of the Zugspitze, you won't find a better place. This home, in particular, is well appointed, with kind and thoughtful owners who genuinely want you to enjoy your stay. Every detail is tended to, with the place being very clean, well-decorated, and comfortable. I can't say enough how much we enjoyed staying here. We would and will recommend it all day every day.
Grainau is an idyllic village at the foot of Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak. Countless hiking paths are here to be explored in the summer. The Höllental gorge, with its roaring mountain stream, is an absolutely unique natural spectacle without a doubt. This gorge can be hiked leaving directly from Grainau. Taking the Zugspitze cable car over the glacier or by the picturesque Eibsee, at an altitude of 1,000 m, is simply unforgettable. This mountain lake, with its turquoise water that recalls the Caribbean, is perfect for a swim in the summer months. In the winter, the Garmisch Classic ski resort is less than 5 minutes away and is a one-stop-shop with 40 km of slopes, the famous Kandahar descent, and cross-country trails.
The Sankt Anton holiday home is a short walk away from the foot of the Waxenstein range, and boasts a perfect view of the alpine summits, the large and small Waxenstein peaks, and Zugspitze. The 5,000-sq.m property has a garden with a private forest, yet is right in the middle of town. The accommodations have been renovated to a 5-star level, and offer hotel-quality luxury. In just 5 minutes, you'll find yourself in the Zugspitze water park and train station, as well as near stores and most of the town's restaurants! The 4-star Alpenhof hotel is all of 10 metres away.
