The 5,000-sq.m property has a garden with a private forest, yet is right in the middle of Grainau, a town in the shadow of Zugspitze. It is right at the foot of the Waxenstein range and Zugspitze, the highest mountain in Germany.
The accommodations have been renovated to a 5-star level, and offer hotel-quality luxury. In just 5 minutes, you'll find yourself in the Zugspitze water park and train station, as well as near stores and most of the town's restaurants! The 4-star Alpenhof hotel is just 10 metres away. The Garmisch resort is a 5-minute drive from the house.
Children are more than welcome.
The sleeping accommodations:
The flats have been completely renovated in a Bavarian style with lots of love and plenty of wood. The solid-wood beds recall a romantic past!
You'll feel great with us, no matter where you're coming from! We don't just speak German, but also Spanish, English, Romanian and some French, as we have spent 25 years outside of the country.
We look forward to your visit!
The Sankt Anton house is exactly 100 years old and is modelled on a small high Bavarian castle (or Schlösschen, as we say) with traditional Bavarian house painting and a small private forest. It's an oasis of peace with a unique mountain view - and yet it's close to everything! The history of the house is also every bit as interesting as the location, and we'd be happy to tell you more!
Overall a comfortable stay: plenty of room, complimentary beer, coffee.
Never met Udo however; could have used his advice on travel.
After the stay he said we owed 55 euros for 'tourist tax'(?).
But overall I would recommend the comfort of staying in a small town, walking to cafes
Authentic Bavarian home. We stayed upstairs and the views were amazing. One bedroom has Queen and Twin bed and the other has 2 twin beds. Bathroom and kitchen are modern and living area seats 8. Flat panel TVs and WiFi made this the perfect blend of old and new. Will stay there again. The only reason I did not give it 5 stars is the stairs. There are 2 flights and my wife who walks with a cane had difficulty with them.
I can say that both Sankt Anton 1 and 2 were spotlessly clean and beautifully decorated, dripping with Bavarian charm and comfortable beds. Unfortunately even tho we'd booked 9 months in advance and had several emails with Udo, our reservation was mixed up and we had to stay one night upstairs and then move everything downstairs for the rest of our stay.
The upstairs SA 2 has a jaw dropping view but it is from one of the bedrooms, not the common area which consists of a lovely dining area but no sitting area.
SA 1, the downstairs apartment has half the view but it has its own deck with seating along with a complete dining and comfortable sitting area. There is no oven in the kitchen but it has everything else you could ask for.
Perfect location! Easy stroll into town and close to walking trails. Over all a very charming place. The on site owners have 2 small children and the house is next to a playground so it is a perfect place for families that might not mind the sounds that children make.
We are a family of 5 (2 adults and 3 small children). First off, the view from the apartment is AMAZING! It is close drive to the American facilities and many attractions. There is a nice walking area with a bakery, shops, etc. that is close by. One thing I did not realize is that the kitchen was not equipped with an oven but the owners were very helpful to my family. The apartment was big enough for our family. It was clean and we enjoyed the rustic German decorations. There was daily cleaning of the apartment. There was parking onsite but it was under construction but the owners let us stay elsewhere on the property. The owners were wonderful and if we get the opportunity to stay in the area again, we will not hesitate!
My family with 2 small children had an excellent stay at this house. The daily maid service was a pleasant surprise as this is not common with Homeaway apartments. The owners made us feel right at home and gave good restaurant suggestions. We ordered the breakfast which made for a 4-star experience - highly recommend it! It is a perfect location with off-street parking, close to walking trails, a Spielplatz, and the bakeries/ shops in Grainau. There are not many reviews because it is recently renovated. Do not let this stop you from staying here. The bathrooms are very clean and modern, and the living area with timbers gives you a real feel that you are in a ski lodge. If you are considering staying in Garmisch, Grainau is a more relaxing experience with better mountain views, and this is the place to stay for an authentic Bavarian experience!
This vacation home was exactly as was advertised. No hidden surprises. The mountain view from the bedroom is gorgeous. We did not have the opportunity to meet Herr Weisenburger as he was out of the country on business. We did meet his mother, a very charming and sweet woman. The vacation home is located in a very quiet area. The only noise that can be heard is the faint sound of the bells on the cows or goats. The vacation home is beautiful on the inside and the outside. It is both quaint and modern. I highly recommend this vacation home. We had the feeling of living in Bavaria not just visiting. You must see this vacation home to fully appreciate it.
Grainau is an idyllic village at the foot of Zugspitze, Germany's highest peak. Countless hiking paths are here to be explored in the summer. The Höllental gorge, with its roaring mountain stream, is an absolutely unique natural spectacle without a doubt. This gorge can be hiked leaving directly from Grainau. Taking the Zugspitze cable car over the glacier or by the picturesque Eibsee, at an altitude of 1,000 m, is simply unforgettable. This mountain lake, with its turquoise water that recalls the Caribbean, is perfect for a swim in the summer months. In the winter, the Garmisch Classic ski resort is less than 5 minutes away and is a one-stop-shop with 40 km of slopes, the famous Kandahar descent, and cross-country trails.
The Sankt Anton holiday home is a short walk away from the foot of the Waxenstein range, and boasts a perfect view of the alpine summits, the large and small Waxenstein peaks, and Zugspitze. The 5,000-sq.m property has a garden with a private forest, yet is right in the middle of town. The accommodations have been renovated to a 5-star level, and offer hotel-quality luxury. In just 5 minutes, you'll find yourself in the Zugspitze water park and train station, as well as near stores and most of the town's restaurants! The 4-star Alpenhof hotel is all of 10 metres away. The Garmisch resort is a 5-minute drive from the house.
