Overview

About the property

2 bedrooms, one bath, sleeps 5

Tucked away down a quiet dirt lane in a secluded compound, Dunshee's Casita is a two-bedroom adobe guest house. Spacious yet cozy, the Casita is furnished with country antiques, featuring traditional New Mexican details, a kiva fireplace, skylights, cable TV/ DVD player, and the artist/owner’s personal touches: fresh flowers, homemade cookies, folk art, great books and gracious hosting. The Casita has a living room, a fully equipped kitchen, a Mexican tiled bath and two private patios, one sunny, one shady. Dunshee’s is ideally located in the historic Canyon Road area, about a mile from the bustle of the Plaza.

The fully-equipped kitchen is stocked with all you'll need for a healthy breakfast including gourmet coffee, fresh juice, seasonal fruit, yogurt, homemade granola, and a variety of delicious muffins. If you opt for the daily rate, your breakfast treats will be restocked daily.

Dunshee's is ideally situated just one mile from the bustle of the plaza, and a few blocks from the galleries and restaurants of Canyon Road. After a day of skiing, hiking, exploring the ancient Native American sites, or combing the flea market or shops downtown, you'll appreciate the solitude and comfort of your own cozy retreat. Relax in front of a crackling fire in winter, or unwind in summer on your patio while you enjoy some of our famous sunsets.

Owner Susan Dunshee lives next door, and is happy to give directions and candid opinions on where to eat, sightsee, shop, and hike, and to make sure you make the most of your time in the 'Land of Enchantment'.

Charming casita

  • 4 of 5

Had a really nice stay at Susan's lovely casita. Located near Canyon Rd it was an easy walk to the plaza. Sante Fe has so much to offer and Susan's affordable casita worked perfectly for us.

Great place

  • 5 of 5

This beautiful casita was in the perfect location. It was very clean and the surprise breakfast was great. Dogs loved it. It was nice to leave the car parked and walk everywhere. Close to park for the dogs topped it off.

Susan was very friendly and helpful

Excellent in many ways

  • 5 of 5

This is a wonderful place to stay - private and clean with many surprising extras! It is like staying with family. We stayed in two different places. The attached location to the main house and the separate two bedroom cottage. Both were outstanding - so comfortable, it felt like it was our own family estate. I can not say enough about how private/comfortable and wonderful this place is - all the little special extras are to many to count. Will stay here again and again.

Charming, private casita

  • 5 of 5

Host Susan was readily available and had stocked the refrigerator with wonderful muffins and fresh fruit and more. There is convenient parking just outside the door. The cottage is close to everything, with easy routes to downtown. It's just around the corner from Canyon Road. There are roomy bedrooms with nice linens and everything you'd need in the kitchen. The bathroom is a little tight for space, but manageable and with fluffy towels. There's lots of light from skylights and windows. Lots of fresh air and there is a window AC as well. There are 2 outdoor spaces to enjoy the great weather.

Overall, it's comfortable, private, and with plenty of older Santa Fe charm. The bathroom has a beautiful sink bowl, the ceiling beams are amazing, brick and wood plank flooring in the main rooms are beautiful. All this charm gives a true feeling of Santa Fe charm. Our stay was perfect for us and our 2 small dogs. We would stay again if we were to come back to Santa Fe.

Loved our stay our this delightful casita. Great location within walking distance of the plaza. Delicious breakfast provided by our charming hostess and lovely outdoor areas to enjoy a glass of wine or cup of coffee. We were a party of four and had plenty of room. Would definitely stay here again.
