After quitting our own business (Mark) and corporate job (me) and then selling our home with everything in it, we travelled the US in our motorhome for what came to be 6 wonderful years! We drove our motorhome to Joshua Tree in 2004 to visit friends and never left. It is a beautiful place!
Christa Cranston purchased this house in 2005
It's seclusion but close proximity to town makes this a lovely location. We love that it sits on a dead end street, never having to see or hear through traffic. Your neighbors are the rocks and mountains this home sits up against. Peace and quiet..
Thank you so much for letting us experience your house. You have excellent taste in everything from fence design to dishes. We felt right at home. It was so great to sit on the patio in the morning and evenings. We loved cooking in the kitchen with every gadget we could need. This house really has everything to make a perfect weekend where all you need is a trip to the grocery store and some good sneakers. We loved hiking in the park and coming home to our Joshua Tree house away from home. We loved it!
You really feel transported to your own world when you stay here. The house is beautifully designed and cozy. We had a great time and look forward to returning in the future.
We had an amazing time! El coyote is beautifully furnished, landscaped, and equipped for a wonderful stay! Nights were cozy and days were sunny and very, very quiet. Rabbits and roadrunners and a puffy cactus wren (I think) were among the critter friends. We will be back!
I can confirm what is already stated in other reviews
My wife and I stayed there for 2 nights in Nov. The evenings were already quite chilly, so we did not use the firepit, BBQ or Jacuzzi. Inside everything is as shown on the pictures, so you can decide in advance whether or not this is something for you. The location is fantastic, only a few minutes away from Highway 62, yet very secluded and nature is all around you. Privacy and solitude, that's what we were looking for, as well as cleanliness. Our expectations were met. If travel brings us back in the area, we'd certainly stay there again.
Christa was very responsive and helpful during the booking process.
Thanks, Christa, for everything.
Me, my husband and another couple opted for El Coyote for Thanksgiving week and we are sure glad that we did. What a spectacular property.
To begin, I have three main things I look for in a rental: cleanliness, comfort and convenience. Each of these were met beyond our expectations. The home and property was very clean and inviting upon arrival. It was also easy to keep clean. The kitchen is well stocked with condiments, pots, pans, dishes and a few odds and in's that made things even more convenient (popcorn popper, blender, and food processor). The beds are very comfortable and the linens are of top quality.
The home is very well laid out allowing for guests to keep to themselves if they wish, or to have intimate conversation. There are several sitting areas to pick from, both inside and outside (although we did wish for more outdoor lighting in the night hours for sitting on the back porch). There are plenty of comfortable seats for four adults to really sprawl out and relax.
The convenience of the property is beyond compare. It is less than a 10 minute drive to the West Joshua Tree park gate, and within minutes to any of the shops, markets or restaurants that you may want to try. There is a great hiking trail on the property, if you want to take a day off from the crowds of the park, and just walking around the "neighborhood" still felt very off the beaten path.
I primarily spoke to Christa and she was very easy to communicate with, and provided quick responses when needed. We had a marvelous time!
A beautiful property on the edge of the wilderness, comfortable living room and bedrooms, spacious kitchen and nice outdoor seating areas. Just far enough from town to feel out of the rush yet close enough for shopping and going out for a bite. The owners were very helpful and the house was as advertised. The local Indian restaurant is quite good (Sam's). Convenient to the west entrance to the national park. The only critique - a very minor one - is that the nonstick pans need to be replaced. Otherwise, the kitchen was well-equipped. Thanks again for a beautiful stay. I'd come back in a heartbeat.
Christa and Mark were the perfect hosts for this property. They were great to deal with in all respects and wouldn't hesitate to rent from them again. Thank you Christa and Mark for a wonderful experience.
