Beautiful house, well equipped and spacious

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous week and were very lucky with the weather. The house was very comfortable and well equipped. The seven of us could spread out and not get on top of each other when we were in. The views from the house were great over Valentia Island where we visited the Skellig visitor centre and walked up to Bray head. We also climbed Carrantuohill, an hours drive away, hard work but worth it for the views. Another highlight was cycling the Gap of Dunloe after taking the boat from Killarney with the hire bikes. It is just worth noting that the roads are not that fast so it can take a while to get places. Would recommend the house without reservation.

Spectacular views, beautiful house, warm and cosy.

  • 5 of 5

I spent a week searching the internet for the perfect house to spend my 50th birthday in and I found it. I thought at first the house was situated near a main road but it is not, it has a big front yard that over looks amazing views of numerous mountains, bays and wild terrain. Night time is as good as day time with the views and if you open the windows upstairs you feel like you are standing in it on a 180 degrees panorama view, it is truly breathtaking. The house has been beautifully decorated, I should know as I am a decorator myself and I give it 5 out of 5 for great quality, floors, kitchen, furniture, it's all new...so if you want that feeling of a new home this is it, but with a real taste of good design and comfort as if it could be your own home. A short walk to the local village where there is a great butcher, fishery, wood for the fire, is all at an arms length. You can also hire bikes local. We had a wonderful 5 nights here. We journeyed all day to some great locations, very close to the Stelligs, beaches and golf course then home to a cosy fire and big TV screen with great internet connection. The power bill at the end was pretty reasonable, as John the landlord only charges what you use, no added extras, also manual control of central heating if you need it but we found the lounge room heated up really well with an open fire and if you keep the doors shut and when you go out the heat does retain itself inside with double glazed windows throughout the house. So very warm always on our return. We were met by John and very welcomed. So if you're a small group then you can just use the bottom of the house otherwise a larger group would be still very comfortable using all bedrooms. All the best to John, I wish him well with his future Atlantic Dreams which is quite frankly a very modern, cosy holiday home in stunning condition. Best wishes and thank you for your kind hospitality John. Col from London

Geräumiges Haus mit wunderbarer Aussicht

  • 4 of 5

  • 5 of 5

  • 5 of 5

Atlatic Dreams, Cahiciveen, Irland, Ende Mai 2016

  • 4 of 5

Cahersiveen town is half way round the renowned Ring of Kerry, the most scenically beautiful drive in western Europe and lies at the foot of Beentee mountain, on the river Fertha overlooking Valentia Harbour.

The Liberator Daniel O' Connnell (1775-1847) is the towns most famous son . The writer Sigerson Clifford was also born in the town and his poem 'The Boys Of Barr Na Sraide' has been immortalised in song. The town contains many ancient anchoritic sites (heritage sites). Five of these are seen close to the town.

Traditional fairdays or market days are still held on the streets where young and old, visitors and locals meet and chat. A visit to Cahersiveen ensures intimate bars, superb food, excellent accommodation and a wide range of shops.

Cahersiveen as a base in the heart of South-West Kerry offers a painters paradise. One has the opportunity to savour, an environment so rich in colour and beauty, that one would be forgiven for thinking, it's a Universe all of its own. We in Cahersiveen town and rural area, extend a welcome, to all our visitors, and hope you have a memorable holiday. The Heritage centre is situated in the old Royal Irish Constabulary Barracks adjacent to the town centre.

The Barracks was designed and constructed during the period 1869-1871 and is arguably one of the most picturesque with its turreted structure nesting in the beautiful South Kerry landscape. With the careful restoration of this interesting building, services such as restaurant, craft workshops, audio-visual display, display of archaeological remains and a tourist information point are provided. As well as the breathtaking scenery that is to be found around Cahersiveen the area also has lots to offer in the way of activities including swimming walking, cycling, golf, mountaineering, a varied selection of water sports from diving to windsurfing, deep sea fishing, pony trekking, and shopping.

Of special interest to families will be Valentia Seasports camps which are held throughout the summer season. Will all equipment supplied for Kayaking, rock climbing etc. along with a sea trampoline the location of the centre of Knightstown is approximately 10 minutes drive from the house. You can catch up with Valentia Island Sea Sports on facebook.

Described as a trip everyone should do at least once in their lives is a day boat trip to the famous world heritage site known as the Skellig Rocks. Featuring an ancient monastic site on a location in the middle of the sea is both humbling and awe inspiring and with its spectacular views is a 'must visit' location whilst in South Kerry.
