Photos and Description of this 4 bedroom holiday home in Seagrove Beach

House, 4 Bedrooms + Bunk Area, 4 Baths, (Sleeps 10-12)

"Sugar Shack" is a beautiful beach home! Located in Dunes Estates, a 12 home gulf-side community, you are steps away from the private, fenced community pool and tennis courts. It is a short stroll to the sugar-white sand of the Emerald Coast beach. Also, street-side parking near beach. Low density area (Hwy. 30A) means fewer people on the beach!

The master suite (king bed) is on the ground floor and features a private bath with a whirlpool tub, separate shower and double sinks with tumbled marble tile. The master opens to a large porch. On this floor is another bedroom (queen bed) with private bath and porch, and a full-sized washer and dryer.

The second floor has a bedroom (queen bed) with bath and private porch, the living room and kitchen with island, breakfast bar, granite countertops, refrigerator with icemaker and stand-alone icemaker, dishwasher and trash compactor. Living room has a beautiful porch.

The third floor has a bedroom (queen bed) and bunk room (twin-over-twin) that share a bath. Perfect for kids! The fourth floor is a tower room with pullout twin sleeper sofa, mini-frig with icemaker and large rooftop patio. The patio has views of the Gulf of Mexico, and is great for entertaining!

Pottery Barn furnishings throughout the house and many wood floors. Custom sound system can be enjoyed from any room. Living room and all bedrooms (including bunk room) have TV's with DVD or VCR. Ample parking in front for three cars/SUV's with overflow parking in back.

Fantastic array of restaurants (pizza, seafood, fine dining) close by. Public golf courses abound. Shopping in quaint local shops or outlet mall.

Fishing, diving, kayaking and lots of other water activities near by. Outdoor concerts and movies in summer and festivals year round.

Seagrove is a great place to be and "Sugar Shack" is a great home for beach vacations, family reunions or entertaining your special guests!

We were surprised by the lack of cleanliness first. Thankfully there was a vacuum available.

It's clear the owners haven't been here in a long while.

The beds are amazingly uncomfortable yet they said the master bedroom is shockingly less than a year old. Without a doubt this (we are here for our last night) has been the worst bed we have ever slept on. The other bedrooms are the same. We actually went out and bought 4 inch gel toppers for the beds because it would have ruined our week. You can tell this probably was a nice house but it needs some love and attention.

The AC was the other issue. We all slept with only a sheet. There are four kids here that did the same. Clearly the AC is on its last leg..... FYI If you don't leave the closet door open downstairs you will have almost no airflow. The vent is completely closed off by dust. The rental company clearly isn't checking.

Owner's Response: This review is totally unfair and untrue. None of these issues were brought up by this renter so management was unable to address them. Neither the prior nor subsequent renters have reported these problems.

Great property for large family or multiple families. We needed a place to stay for just two days on short notice and the owner called me personally and we worked out the details quickly. Thank You for letting us stay in your beautiful beach home!!

Best vacation ever!

  • 5 of 5

My grown family loved our week at Sugar Shack! This large house does not look like a typical rental. It has beautiful granite, wood floors, and is really tastefully furnished with what appears to be Pottery Barn furnishings. The house was really clean! This place is really nice. The views from the deck are amazing. The proximity to the beach is great. It took about 3 minutes to walk down the street to the beach. The beach location is excellent as well. Also there are walking trails all around and bicycle rentals within walking distance! I would recommend this place over and over and I hope to make this an annual trip! Thank you Sugar Shack for helping make good memories!!

Nice property - loved that it was so near the beach and pool. Only small issue - lots of small nats in master bathroom.

Wonderful family vacation at Sugar Shack

  • 5 of 5

We just got back home from spending one of the best family vacations we have experienced. The toughest challenge we faced each day was if we should stay at Sugar Shack and enjoy setting out on one of the many decks, opening the double french doors on the second floor and listening to the waves, grilling out on the deck just off of our master suite or head to 30A for even more fun. So, we just decided to do all of the above. The seven of us had ample room either gathering in the living room, up on the top floor, splitting up to enjoy having some seclusion or just slipping off to watch T.V. We found this house to be perfect for us. My wife enjoyed the huge bathtub in the master bath and everyone enjoyed having four bathrooms so we never had to wait. The kitchen was perfect for a great gathering for meals and board games. We found the location to be perfect. Being just off of 30A we enjoyed walking without traffic. Being able to take a short stroll to the beach or tennis courts was a plus.

If you don't enjoy friendly southern charm from people that go out of their way to be courteous, you may want to go somewhere else. We spent seven days going to places like Seaside, Destin and many other local spots and were treated like family at every stop. If you want fine dining it is there. If you want casual dining, great seafood or a party atmosphere it is all right on 30A. The best way to describe the area is family oriented. We saw children outside playing football, riding bikes, running and playing tag much like children could do back when I was a kid, care free. My family felt like we took a vacation from the troubles of the rest of the world. If you want a perfect vacation spot go to 30A . If you want the perfect vacation home go to the Sugar Shack, but don't go on New Years Eve because we want to go to Seaside to enjoy outdoor concerts and meals then head back to "Sugar Shack" to stand out on the top deck with our entire family and watch the fireworks for miles in each direction once again next year. What a way to ring in the new year!

Great Weekend at the Sugar Shack

  • 5 of 5

We did a 4 day weekend at the Sugar Shack, and were not disappointed. First, we LOVED and appreciated one of the only owners willing to be flexible and not require Sat-Sat stay - THANK YOU! We had 3 adults and 5 kids aged 11-17, and all of us were comfortable in the many rooms. I don't even think we found all the patios, there were so many! Plenty of room for everyone, especially with the porches. Finishes in kitchen and throughout were top notch, beds were comfortable, and everything was in good working order. Location was fabulous, right off 30A, just west of Seaside (which is too busy for my taste, but super close and fun to walk around) and thankfully west of the strange brown effluent on the east side (at Seaside, beware!). Beach was awesome, totally quiet, and nothing but dunes to the east all the way to Water Sound. Totally gorgeous. Easy walk to beach, no roads to cross, and super quiet neighborhood. I would go again in a heartbeat - you are in the best location, close to everything, but quiet and peaceful. Only things to note: the bunks are a little crowded since the ceilings on that floor are quite low. I wouldn't plan to put anyone over maybe 7 on the top bunk. Mine opted for the sofa. If you have stayed at other VRBO places (like we have) this one is more stripped on supplies than any other we've rented. You'll get pots, pans, dishes and linens, but no beach towels, chairs, coolers or other goodies. No coffee or filters (get the flat bottom ones at Publix up the road) or even salt and pepper. Not a big deal, just good to know ahead of time if you've VRBO'd before. We rented chairs and umbrellas for the weekend from a guy on the beach and it was easy. He had them set up for us everyday. There was a concierge line through the rental agency that would handle those things for you as well, but we didn't use it. The washer dryer and grill worked great and we used both. Endless hot water system is close to master, so if you're a light sleeper, be aware. It cycles constantly and is clearly audible in the master bedroom. Overall a great house in a great location. I'd go back here for sure. LOVED IT. THANKS!!
