About Mark Rowe
I have owned and operated Taylor House as guest apartment for more than 20 years. Many of my guests are repeat visitors who consider Taylor House their home away from home. I am geologist by profession.
Why Mark Rowe chose Saint George's
This historic 18th Century Bermuda townhouse is very comfortable, well equipped and spacious. It is perfectly located for guests to benefit from all that Bermuda has to offer.

Perfect for a quiet retreat
We stayed for almost a week at Taylor House. The location is ideal to walk to restaurants and local beaches. Also ideal to catch the bus to ANYWHERE on the island. It was nice to meet Mark on day one to review any questions. I easily reached him on check out day to finalize the details of leaving the house.
The multiple sets of steps in this house are a bit steep which makes sense for this historical home. If we had bad knees or needed a one level arrangement, then we probably wouldn’t have chosen this house.
The garden is very pretty and perfect for relaxing in the evening with a glass of wine. We enjoyed hearing the church bells, scooters and even some pedestrians during the day, but the evening hours were very peaceful. Thanks Mark, for a great visit to your beautiful island!
As I was trying to decide where my family should stay ( I have a 15 and 18 year old) I came across the Taylor house. This is my first time renting from VRBO. We typically stay in resorts, but two bedrooms was just too expensive. So, I decided on the house rental route. I chose Taylor House for its historic nature, as well as being in a little town where we can walk to restaurants, bars, beaches and museums. We were not disappointed. We had plenty of space. Loved the quaintness of St. George’s. Our favorite beach ended up being Tabacco Bay which is a 15 minute walk. Great snorkeling at high tide. The house....it’s is what you see in the pictures. It is dated but that that’s what you expect from and older home. Mark the owner stops by to make sure you have what you need and is very accessible. I would stay here again!
My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property in St. George's. Loved the UK atmosphere, enjoyed the museums and learned a lot of interesting history. The bus passes were a valuable perk. Traveled to the south road beaches as well as to the Dockyard by ferry. The cottage was very inviting and homey. Enjoyed breakfast and tea/coffee in the garden. All the nooks and crannies in a 17th century accommodation can make upkeep and cleaning a challenge. But perfection was not our goal in choosing this rental.
The wifi is slow; however, that was the case at restaurants as well. Thank you for a great first visit to Bermuda!
Loved St. George's and Taylor House!
Taylor House is indeed a "charming townhouse," as advertised. Although this was our first visit to Bermuda, we nailed it with our choice of St. George's and Taylor House. The house itself was clean & quaint with nice kitchen and large master bedroom. We loved the eccentricities of this historic, well-kept house, ie, high rise / different height steps, but something to be aware of for anyone having difficulty navigating stairs. Location of the house was also a plus, in a quiet neighborhood yet steps away from the downtown of St. George's, the bus stop and ferry. Host Mark Rowe provided public transportation passes, which we used to explore the entire island.
Mark is a great host, very responsive to and thoughtful of his guests. There is no reason not to give Taylor House a five-star rating.
Mark was fantastic, and extremely helpful. What a great cottage for a relaxing holiday in St. George's. Beautiful, with character, and history. We will definitely be back. Thanks again Mark.
The house was in a great location close to everything. Close to transportation.
Amazing location! For a quite vacation. You can walk to Two beaches and a few restaurants, however everything around closes by approximately 9:30PM. Mark ( the owner) provided us with Bus passes, which helped ride to the town of Hamilton where there is more live and restaurant options. The house was very old but had everything you need.
Taylor House is an (old) historic home in the small historic town of St. Georges. It is not recommended that you stay here if you are hoping to partake in night-life. Having said that, there are several bars and good waterfront restaurants in St. George's. They do not shut at 9:30pm as suggested by Cynthia. Possibly that is the latest time you can make a reservation for.
Taylor House is the perfect place to stay in terms of convenience and proximity to amenities. It is located in a quiet residential alleyway in St George's Town within a few minutes walking distance from a grocery store, waterfront restaurants, a bus stop and ferry stop, pharmacy, museums etc. . St George's Town is the historic capital of Bermuda. It has been designated as a UN 'World Heritage Site' because of the unique picturesque original architecture dating from the late 17th century. St George's is a harbour-front town with waterfront restaurants, water sports and a fast ferry summer service to other parts of Bermuda including the capital, Hamilton. Three lovely beaches with excellent snorkeling are located within walking distance or just 3 minutes by vehicle.
Mini electric car and scooter rental companies operate out of St George's a few minutes walk from Taylor House should you wish to explore areas of Bermuda that are less accessible by bus or ferry. Rental vehicles can be parked right outside the front door of Taylor House. Charging points for electric cars are available very nearby.
