Beautiful home with great views

  • 5 of 5

I came to Big Bear with my husband, daughter, sister-in-law, niece, mother-in-law and father-in-law. This was the perfect home for our stay. Check in was very easy and we settled in quickly. The home itself is very light and airy. The living room was very open and the couches were very comfortable. There was big screen tv that everyone enjoyed, air conditioning and wifi. Three of the bedrooms are part of the main house and the fourth bedroom (with queen bed and sofa bed) had its own entrance from the outside. You cannot access this bedroom from the inside of the house. This was not an issue for us. Each bedroom was clean and comfortable. The master bathroom was great - with a jetted jacuzzi tub and a walk in shower large enough for two. The best part of the house was the back deck with the amazing views and the giant, very clean hot tub. The drive way fit all three of our cars. It's a steep drive way but since it was summer, we didn't have to worry about snow or ice! We loved this house and would stay here again. :)

Summertime Luxury Haven

  • 5 of 5

After many hours searching for a getaway cabin to enjoy a family vacation, we settled on Luxury Haven. We usually choose a home in the Eagle Point area, so the Moonridge experience was new for us. After having spent the week there, it was the right choice. The home was extremely clean and has everything you need. The kitchen was spacious and easy to work in at meal prep time for our large group, and is well stocked. The open concept makes it easy to visit while cooking and the high ceilings lend to the airy feel throughout. The master was delightful, with access to the front deck, a huge closet and en suite bathroom with the enormous walk in shower. The downstairs apartment afforded some separation and privacy when wanted. For our family, the stars of the show were the two amazing decks. Facing east and west, you're afforded the luxury of choosing sunshine or shade to enjoy meals or morning coffee. (We had every meal outside, and BBQ'd often.) There are plenty of umbrellas and inviting, comfortable seating areas. The built in bar around the rear deck was a favorite hangout for evening cocktails, enjoying the sound of wind in the trees, bird watching and gorgeous sunset views. The way the property is situated, you have a feeling of privacy and aren't looking into the windows of a neighboring cabin, which as a top priority for us. So close the zoo for the grandkids, and quick/easy access to some wonderful summertime hiking areas just a quick walk down the road. Unexpected bonus: Close proximity to the zoo afforded a nightly serenade of the wolf population there. Not something you hear in the city! Catherine was so easy to work with, patiently answering questions whenever I had them, and check in/out was smooth and painless. The security deposit was returned promptly. We couldn't have asked for a better place to enjoy our cherished family vacation. Hope to be able to return! Thanks, Catherine, for sharing your wonderful home!

Great place, great location, and easy check in/out

  • 5 of 5

Stayed here with a group of friends and was praised over and over about how amazing the place was and how close it is to bear mountain. The exterior and interior are very charming and you feel right at home in the woods. The front and back deck are perfect especially with the hot tub out back. The studio type room on the first floor was perfect for friends that wanted a little more privacy. Check in was simple and check our rules were easy to follow. Will definitely be coming back again next season.

Great house & location

  • 4 of 5

Overall we had a wonderful stay. The house was very clean, and the location is great - within walking distance of bear mountain ski area (shuttle to snow summit from bear mtn is convenient, if you time it correctly). The hot tub and view from deck are very nice. Jacuzzi tub in master suite is a nice bonus.

We decided on 4/5 stars due to just a few minor things that can easily be addressed by the hosts: 1) there was not enough toilet paper in the house (luckily we brought some extra). 2) we could only locate one lighter that barely worked to fire the grill and fireplace (the house directions mention matches that we could not find). 3) the coffee maker did not work (apparently the steam arm was broken) so we boiled water and used the coffee maker as a pour-over. 4) Although a path from the back door to the hot tub/grill had been cleared, the rest of the back deck was covered in a huge pile of ice/snow preventing access to the table/chairs/chiminea/patio heater (which didn’t have propane, perhaps because it was wintertime). Admittedly, there had been a couple of large snowstorms leading up to our visit, however, if you choose to charge a premium price for a VRBO, then your guests will expect the very best, including fully cleared decks, driveways, etc.

A couple of additional comments worth mentioning:

-we were told that the furnace was quite loud for the people sleeping in the separate room downstairs (I did not notice this in the master bed).

-The property description says "Queen size Beds (3), Double Beds (1), Twin or Single Beds (2), Sleep Sofa or Futons (1) Queen size sofa bed", but there are actually 2 Queen beds, not 3.

President's Day Wknd

  • 5 of 5

We spent 4 nights over President's day wknd and had a blast. Obviously the snow was great this year, but so was the cabin. Easily accommodated our party of 10. Very clean with great features including a large open concept living space for everyone to gather as well as an awesome deck. Catherine and Lysa were both great to work with. They even offered to take care of the trash, which if you've ever been to Big Bear, is a huge convenience that they provided as an added courtesy. Very close to Bear Mountain, which was also nice to beat the rush and avoid the traffic on the main drag. Lastly, kids had a blast sledding down the side of the front yard. Only thing to be aware of is the driveway, which can be a challenge depending on the conditions. That said, would definitely rent again!
