Kick back “island-style” in a luxurious setting!!! Leave the crowds behind on Seven Mile Beach. The Retreat is located at Rum Point, in the heart of the Cayman Kai area, on the north side of the island. There are only 23 units on our seven acres of beachfront property with 1,300 feet of white sandy beach. An easy 35 minutes by car from the airport, George Town, great shopping, and many delectable restaurants. This is the perfect spot to relax and enjoy the Caribbean in all its natural beauty.
This is truly the most beautiful beach on Grand Cayman! The sand is a gorgeous white with a hint of pink. The water is turquoise blue and absolutely crystal clear. The water is very shallow hundreds of feet offshore, perfect for the kids. The beach has lots of vegetation, shade trees, and wildlife, making it a nature lover’s paradise. The waters are part of a nationally protected marine park. So, you will find lots of fish and coral right out your back door.
In addition to our stunning beach, the Retreat offers many great amenities including a newly resurfaced tennis court, a new game room, new work out facility and attractively landscaped pool. All of these amenities are available for your enjoyment at no cost during your stay.
Right next door to the Retreat is the Rum Point Club, which has a nice gift shop, is the very popular Wreck Bar and Grill, a great fine dining restaurant, and a Red Sail Sports rental and activity center. The food at Rum Point is outstanding, the drinks may be even better, and the friendly service can’t be beat. At Red Sail Sports, you can plan snorkeling, diving and Stingray City excursions. If you want to play on the beach, you can rent all kinds of beach toys including snorkeling gear, wave runners, sailboats, kayaks, and more!
Our condominium is a large one bedroom, one bathroom unit, with more than 1,000 square feet of living space. We have a great view of the beach from the living room and the screened lanai. The unit is on the third floor, which almost always provides for a nice breeze if you want to open up the screened windows and let the ocean air flow through. Our unit is ideally situated for a couple or young family. The large bedroom features a king sized bed.
The living room has a queen-size pullout couch. An additional pullout bed is available upon request. The kitchen is fully equipped, including a dishwasher and disposal. Our unit also has a washer and dryer, so feel free to pack light.
To keep you entertained in the evenings, we have cable television, a DVD player with a selection of movies, a stereo with a variety of CD’s, video games, board games, puzzles, and cards. A small library of novels is available for your enjoyment. Email your family and friends from your laptop. We have high-speed wireless internet and a color printer for your use free of charge. Local telephone calls are also free of charge. International calls can be made using your calling card or any major credit card.
From our condominium, you will walk out your door onto one of the Caribbean's most amazing beaches. If you stay on the Lagoon, you will find yourself driving to our beach. You may be able to find a place at the Kaibo that is a little bit cheaper. But, you will find our condominium to be the best value on the treasured ocean side at Rum Point.
The Retreat and our unit have been inspected and approved by the Cayman Islands Department of Tourism. So, rest assured that our amenities are up to the finest of standards. We would be happy to answer any questions you may have about our condominium or the island. So, please don't hesitate to ask. We hope to have the opportunity to share our pristine home away from home with you…
My husband and I have been married for 19 years. We have 2 boys, ages 11 and 15. We live in Houston, Texas. We enjoy getting away to our condo at Rum Point as frequently as we can. Our kids enjoy telling their friends that in Grand Cayman their back yard is a beach and their front yard is a pool and tennis court! We enjoy having friends and family visit so that we can show off our home away from home. We would love to share our island home with you while we are back in Houston, putting in time in the 'real world.'
Adela Parlette purchased this condo in 2007
My husband and I have talked about buying a property in the Caribbean since our honeymoon. Everytime we would go on vacation to an island, that conversation would come back up. But, we never pulled the trigger. Back in July of 2007, my in-laws watched the kids for a week while my husband and I went on our first vacation by ourselves since the kids were born. We went to Grand Cayman and stayed on 7 Mile Beach. The beaches were stunning and the island was absolutely paradise. Beatiful views...warm water...laid-back island atmosphere. Around the middle of the week, we decided to rent a car and drive over to Rum Point, which we had read about online. Now, I grew up in the Caribbean and we have traveled pretty extensively to various island destinations. I have seen my share of stunningly beautiful beaches. But, let me tell you...when we got out of the car and walked around the corner of the gift shop and saw the beach at Rum Point, we were absolutely awestruck by the beauty. We had a drink at the Wreck Bar and decided to walk out to the water. The water was perfectly calm and clear as a looking glass. We were able to walk out a couple hundred feet from the shore and the water was only waist high! We began to talk about how this would be such a perfect place to come with the kids. Shallow, calm water. Nice quiet, family atmosphere. Just about then we noticed a couple of really nice looking buildings right next door on the same beach. We wandered next door, found out there was a one bedroom condo for sale, and the rest is history.
We stayed at "Sweet 16" for one week during our very first vacation to the Cayman Island. Location, Location, Location...fantastic spot!!! While some might say Rum Point is a bit away from Georgetown and all the attractions, the beauty of the Retreat at Rum Point is the peace and quiet we got to enjoy. Lots of great snorkelling at the Rum Point beach, and off the Iron Shores reef. We were also 5 mins drive from Star Fish Point (another quiet spot).
The unit was very well stocked and very well maintained. We cooked 80% of the time in the condo and the kitchen had all the utensils needed to make family meal.
Large master bedroom....We used the Twin sized air mattress and put that in the bedroom for our kid, laid out the luggages, and still have lots of room to move around.
Adela (owner) was also extremely helpful and responsive to all our questions and needs. We really enjoyed talking to her.
Definitely will return to the Retreat again. It was one of the best family vacation we had!
The "Sweet 16" unit and the entire "Retreat at Rum Point"complex are immaculately maintained. The oceanfront view from the unit's third floor lanai is breathtaking and we spent the better part of each morning enjoying the breeze and watching the waves break over the offshore reef. The unit is very comfortable - we slept great - and has everything we needed for preparing meals. The owner does an excellent job of providing driving directions, grocery resources and recommended island activities - wish we'd had another week to explore more highlights. Walter at Red Sail Sports on the neighboring property is a great resource for water activities and guided us to several great snorkeling spots. We also booked our catamaran trip to Stingray City through him and had an amazing experience.
Everything about our stay was uncomplicated and relaxing - just what the doctor ordered!
All I can say is wow! We had such a wonderful vacation and in fact my son and husband stated that by far this was their favorite vacation so far. The condo was beautiful, well supplied, clean, and in a good location. The king sized bed was firm and comfortable that we slept the sleep of babes for the five nights we were there. Rum Point is literally a hop, skip, and a jump from the condo and we would go over there once a day for a tropical drink. We snorkeled daily, most of the time, right in front of the condo and pier at Rum Point. Our beach was private so most days we had it all to ourselves or shared it with one or two other couples. I was hesitant about the condo when I read a review about construction next door but I have to say that there wasn't any construction taking place while we were at the Retreat. It was beautiful and peaceful...so much so that we are thinking of coming back in October for our 10 year anniversary. It truly is paradise.
We enjoyed our stay at the retreat! The property and the condo ground were clean and quiet. We have a 3-year-old daughter, and it was perfect space for her to run around and enjoy herself in the condo. We sat out in the lanai to enjoy our meals every day. Rum Point is the perfect spot for kids (shallow, warm, and calm water) and people who like to stay away from the crowd. Adela is very responsive and made many great recommendations. It saved me time from doing research on good restaurants and activities. I gave it a 4 instead of a 5 star because of the soft bed. I am 115lbs, so the bed doesn't bother me. My husband who is 190lbs had trouble with the bed. He would sink down on his side, and he would wake up with a bad back. Overall, great condo and beautiful beach!
We had a wonderful vacation at The Retreat at Rum Point! The accommodations couldn't be better and was exactly as stated. A very clean condo with a very nice ocean view. It was extremely relaxing for my husband and me. I would love to visit during New England's winter but I work in a tax office and April 15th couldn't come soon enough. I was in need of total relaxation and that was what I got!! A private beach. A quiet sail to stingray sandbar to swim with the stingrays. Many sunset dinners right there at Rum Point Restaurant and/or Kaibo Restaurant. A leisurely drive or two around the island. But the best, was just staying on the beach of The Retreat at Rum Point. We snorkeled every day while on Cayman Island, both right at Rum Point and on Seven Mile Beach. We also visited the Botanical Garden and Starfish Point (awesome).
Thank you Adela, for the information packet. It was very informative! We only had one thing that was a little unexpected. We rented a car but did not verify whether or not our personal car insurance covered our international car rental so we had to pay extra for insurance, which ended up being true, our insurance did not cover Cayman Island so it was good that we paid the insurance.
We had an awesome time!! We would highly recommend The Retreat at Rum Point.

We were looking for a tropical vacation that was a direct flight from Dulles so that lead me to Grand Cayman. We wanted to be away from crowds and that lead us to Run Point. We were lucky to find this beautiful condo steps from the beach in a lovely tropical setting.
The condo was spotlessly clean. The linens were fresh and plentiful. The king size bed was perfect to sleep on. Internet was great. TV had plenty of channels. AC worked great but with the ocean breeze we hardly used it. Washer/ dryer clean and worked fine. It was quiet, we did not hear a neighbor.
We never left Rum Point once we got there it was just too perfect to leave. The neighborhood is very walker friendly and it's beautiful as well. We felt safe at all times. We did not eat out much but had our fair share of the famous Mudslides at the Wreck Beach Bar near the condo. We enjoyed having a mix of privacy at the Retreat Beach then hopping over to action, people watching area. We found Rum Point very family friendly and not a big "party" beach as the name would imply.
We did Stingray city right from the dock. The snorkeling off the point is amazing. We went to Kaibo Upstairs restaurant and had
an evening of a lifetime.
The owner was kind and professional, she gave us a late check out that was very much appreciated.
I can't imagine being anywhere more perfect and I can't think of one thing negative to say about this rental!
Stingray City trips! Red Sail Sports activity center, dive shop, water sports and gift shop, bar and restaurant right next door!!! The most extensive botanic garden in the Caribbean (Queen Elizabeth II Botanic Park) is about a 10 minute drive. Guided tours of the fabulous Mastic Trail (about 5 minutes drive) provide a historical perspective as well as nature and bird sighting.
