Great Lake experience at Smith Mountain Lake
Enjoyed our stay at Autumn Cove! Home was lakefront with a short walk to water down a short hill. Loved the dock and other amenities. We would rent this place again. Owner was very easy to work with and accommodating to our needs. Thanks!
The lake home was delightful and we enjoyed spending family time on the lake, playing board games and watching the deer each morning. Our stay was very enjoyable and the cabin is in a beautiful location that is easy to access. We loved having a dock for our boat!
Beautiful place and location! Kirk was very responsive with all questions.
We've stayed here twice and the house is perfect for us and it is in a great location. Food Lion is only a few minutes away as well as Bridgewater which has restaurants, putt putt and an arcade for the kids. Highly recommend!
We had an absolute blast at Autumn Cove and Smith Mountain Lake. Home was just perfect and spacious for our family. Our kids jumped off the dock for hours! Endless fun and perfect location.
The house was cozy and we enjoyed the views. It was a very nice, laid back and relaxing weekend.
Two minor issues were the fact that the upper deck was subject to a great deal of sun exposure and the only umbrella that they had was stored in the garage and broken. Also stored in the garage was the grill which we pulled into the driveway to grill burgers and hot dogs. Would have been nice to have it on the patio.
My only major complaints would be that we had to take the trash with us, and that the term, "animal/dog friendly" was loosely used.
In my experience, it is highly unusual with rental properties to have to take your trash especially if you're staying in a home with municipal garbage collection, and since it was Memorial Day Weekend, the dump was closed so we had to dump it in a random dumpster several miles away which was frustrating because our cars were packed with luggage, toddlers, and a dog.
Lastly, it was not a dog friendly house. The dog was relegated to the unfinished portion of the basement, or outside. That should probably be made clear in the property description going forward and not the fine print that you see after you've agreed to rent the property.
All in all, it was a good stay.
We appreciate the feedback. We'll work on replacing umbrellas for the deck table(s).
As disclosed in pre-rental information:
-- County ordinances prohibit use of grills on wooden decks, hence the reason for it being stored in the garage and wheeled onto the driveway.
-- The pet policy is disclosed prior to securing a rental. We do make an effort to ask prospective renters to review the pet policy and other terms prior to committing to a reservation.
-- There is no municipal trash collection in Bedford County. It is unfortunate that the collection site was closed on the day of departure. We certainly have no intention to create an undue burden;; we're willing to haul away the trash ourselves from the property for similar circumstance in the future.
We do appreciate the care that these renters took with the property during their stay.
