'Casa Escola Velha' was, as the name implies, the old schoolhouse of the small town Loreto.
Loreto is famous for its many regional festivals with flower-covered roads and the grilled over an open fire skewers 'Espedata' a specialty of the island of Madeira.
The building, formerly a school house of Loreto, was adapted as a holiday home and renovated with great attention to detail.
It was thus possible to bring that special flair of the old stone house with a modern design and contemporary technology in line.
The stone construction creates a special room climate inside the house
pleasantly cool in summer and warm in winter.
Special attention was paid to a high level of comfort and functional furniture.

From the living room a staircase leads to the first Floor, here you will find a beautifully furnished bedroom with a double bed and a view over the endless Atlantic.

Furthermore, on the first floor a spacious bathroom with bath, separate shower, washing machine, dryer and heated towel rail.
Also from the bedroom, a second staircase leads down to the garden protected by Solandra and Buganvilla.
Rienstrelizien, palm trees, protea, many flowers, bananas and cactuses as well as a herb bed with fresh herbs of the season.
A well equipped barbecue, garden furniture, parasol and sun - beds are standard.
A private parking for 2 cars is located directly behind the house.
The house is situated in a quiet location just a 1-minute walk from the village center with bar, cafe, pizzeria / Italian restaurant, mini market / bakery, bank, and taxi rank. Depending on the catch is served each morning fresh fish from local fishermen. Only about 7 minutes' drive of the main town Calheta is with 'Calheta Beach' the most beautiful beach of the island, a supermarket, restaurants, seafood restaurants and a promenade with bars, shops and the possibility for boat trips and whale watching along the stunning south coast of Madeira.
Next visit, the museum Casa das Mudas with great architecture and art - exhibitions, such as the old rum factory, once a year, a typical island Aquardente here is made from sugar cane around
Ideal is 'Casa Velha Escola' for hiking tours, the next Levada walking trail crosses the road to the plateau Paul da Serra about 1 km above the house and is also walking distance in the shortest time achievable. The plateau itself is to achieve as a starting point for many hikes by car in about 10 minutes.. Next on beacon and Ribeira da Janela the road leads through laurel forests to Porto Moniz the most northwestern point of Madeira. From here, continue along the old road to the lighthouse of Ponta Pargo the most westerly point. From here, a new highway along the places Faja da Calheta and Prazeres leads back to Calheta.
