Clean, spacious, convenient, comfortable
We came with our group 3 families, total of 13 (6 adults, 7 kids) for 4 nights in early April. The home had ample sleeping space for that number (the adult couples each had their own room, the bunk room slept 4-5, depending on who was in there, and there was also a pull-out sofa in the loft -- some kids also enjoyed sleeping outside on the upstairs balcony). There was plenty of room for everybody to spread out. The spacious kitchen and very large refrigerator allowed plenty of room for several people to be helping with cooking at any one time. Also, the dining table fit 10 very comfortably, and we were able to squeeze all 13 of us around it without a problem. For this size group, I loved staying on the east side of the park. It is true you "have to" drive through Zion to get to the tram stops, but once you see Zion you will see this is not a hardship! The east side of the park has no crowds like Springdale. It is quiet and calm and peaceful without the bustle of the south side of the park. We spent two amazing days in the park doing hikes there, and one day we stayed on the East side. There is at least one great hike (maybe more, but we did only one) from the east side of Zion that was beautiful. From Zion Ponderosa (a small drive down the road from this house), you can access a hike to Observation Point. If you do this hike from the park floor tram stop, I understand it is 8 miles roundtrip with switchbacks uphill. The hike we did from the east side was nearly empty (something you cannot say about any hikes from the tram stops), still plenty long and challenging without constant uphill for our group of 13 (ages 12 to 50), and has the Observation Point vista that is worth the wait! The property manager, Sharon, was helpful and easy to reach. We almost changed our dates slightly at the last minute, and she was responsive and accommodating as we tried to figure that out. The beds were comfortable, the towels plentiful, we used the washer/dryer often, and the large hot tub every single day! Highly recommend this location and this house in particular.
Great place to have a family reunion
Beautiful cabin, spacious. Really impressed with how well stocked it was--we had everything we needed. Everything worked, no problems with any appliances, etc. Hot tub very nice.
Easy access to Ponderosa Ranch, short walk to the activities there. Recommend it highly.
I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay!
The location was perfect. Only a few miles from Zion and about 1.5 hours from Bryce. As for the cabin.... well, I couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. The cabin was clean, spacious, private, and beautiful. It came equipped with everything we needed, such as dishes, pans, crockpot, large fridge, large oven, BBQ, washing machine, and dryer. What I really liked most was the two balconies and the very large windows in the living area. The private balconies were great for viewing the incredible night sky/stars and mule deer and the large windows exposed the beautiful mountain scenery, sunrises, and sunsets. I was weary about scheduling a vacation mid-March, not knowing what type of weather we were going to have and afraid to go stir crazy if homebound. Well, we did have a few days or rain/snow and I have to say, because of the space, scenery, and beauty of the cabin, these few days at home were fantastic!! What a treat! Thank you, Steve, again for lending us your beautiful home.
A great get away for a large family get together
We stayed with my brother's family [ 3 adults + 5 kids] for ~5 days as we were visiting Zion and Bryce Canyon National park.
the place as 4 bedroom [3 of them ave 1 bed each + 4th one as 4 bunk beds] + 1 living couch with a convertible bed. the place is large enough to fit 3 families [6 adults + 6 kids] with 3.5 bath.
house is very airy with typical mountain retreat cabin feel with all the modern convenience such as internet, cable tv, and A/C.
kitchen was well stocked with basic plates, cups, and utincils + REF/Dish washer. the house also came with washer/dryer for your dirty clothes of hours of hiking.
as far as the location is concerned, if you are looking to camp at both Zion[25min drive to the visitor center] and Bryce [80min drive] , it is as good location.
if you plan to stay for just Zion, there might be a better location closer to the west side of the park entrance.
the place is also next to the resort, which is ~1mile drive with a good swimming pool [$5/person/day tor $20 for a week] + access to pool table, ping -pong table. the resort also had $5/person zip line for evening, which is great for kids.
overall, great experience and I would stay at the place again and recommend it for others.
Huge cabin close to Zion National Park
Property is beautiful and air-conditioning works really well. Clean and relaxing. Deers roam in the backyard as well
Great house, great location
Two couples (55+) used this home as a base for exploring the Zion region. Though not close to the park (30 minutes or so), it was a very convenient place to explore the area east of the main tunnel and to gain access to the Observation Point trail. No place closer than Springdale to buy groceries, so load up before you arrive.
The house itself was spacious and nicely appointed. We really enjoyed the hot tub after a day of hiking. The kitchen was big and functional. There is a lot of room in this house for way more than 4 people.
The owner was very responsive to a few questions that arose, and made sure we were happy. The house is close to the Zion Ponderosa Ranch, which has a pool and miniature golf. It was nice to have some other activities so close.
The only drawback (as has been mentioned elsewhere) is the internet access. Not a lot of bandwidth and we had to reset the modem frequently. However, that's not why you come to a region like this.
Zion National Park area - 10 minutes from the East Entrance of Zion
Other Activities: kayaking, snowmobiling
