About Judith Buck

My wife, our dog and I like having you and your friends & family enjoy this clean & comfortable Beach Bungalow. Check out the messages from others who have visited and left messages about how much fun they have had in this fun Pleasure Point Beach house!

Judith Buck purchased this house in 1999

Why Judith Buck chose Santa Cruz

I had a dream about finding a wonderful home at a great surfing area and when we drove up to the Bungalow, I knew we had found it as soon as we saw it. Even though it had a Sold sign on it, we told our Realtor to keep tabs on it and 1 week later we were able to buy it in July of 1999.

What makes this house unique

Only a short half block stroll to the middle of Pleasure Points Beach and Surf areas. After playing with our assortment of surf and boogie boards at this great point break that works for all ages and skill levels, , come back and enjoy all the bubbles in the $10,000 hot tub, and relax in the shiatsu massage chair in front of the fire stove with free firewood while watching a favorite movie from the 100's DVD/VSH's available or Comcast On-Demand!

Guestbook comments from the manager

Thanks so much Buck & Judith, for sharing your much-loved Beach House with us. Our dogs, Maggie & Mitch loved being able to be on the deck, in the house, or in the backyard whenever they wanted! We had so much fun at the Wharf-To-Wharf, and our grandson loved the hot tub! We spent time in Monterey and really enjoyed the Shadow Brooke Restaurant and the area around Aldo's - Seabright Beach. Thanks for being such gracious and welcoming hosts. Best Always.

It really is a great place to stay

  • 5 of 5

Practically on the edge of the Pacific Ocean at Pleasure Pt. One of the most desired pieces of coastline by surfers and watchers. I luckily hit a very low tide for tide pooling with the pooch. The next day was a storm driven very high tide. Such force and beauty. The surfers and the otter really enjoyed the water. The cottage is comfy. I was able to really relax. Of course the lovely spa in the back yard helps a lot. It was rainy and stormy but that didn't stop the outdoor activities. Walking was delightful. Fresh crab from a local vendor made for a super supper and out to dinner on the wharf. I have no reservations about recommending this property to anyone wanting close proximity to the coast and comfy digs that feel like a home away from home.

Surfers Paradise

  • 5 of 5

Bucks Beach Bungalow was everything we were looking for. It is a great place to stay, seconds away from some of the best surf in the nation – this is the spot!

If you want to surf, or learn to surf, call ED at ClubEd.

Recommended by Buck, Ed was a fantastic surf instructor. We ended up in the water surfing for

4 days only having to walk our boards seconds to the coast.

The Begonia Festival was so much fun. We rode Buck’s bikes into Capitola and back a few times!

After a long day of surfing the amazing hot tub was just the relaxation we needed.

Fun Things We Did:

Seabright Brewery

Crows Nest patio

Naka Sushi (wonderful spot for authentic amazing sushi)

BBQ on BBB patio

Shoppers corner grocery Store – a local gem full of great produce and fresh seafood ready to grill

Club Ed Surf lessons – a friend and wonderful surf instructor

O’Neil Surf Shop – support the local heritage of O’Neil legend

The Boardwalk! So much fun!! Roller coaster, walked up the wharf and saw lounging sea lions

Can’t wait to get a Trader Joes in Austin! What a great store.

All in All the location, the info and advice given by Judith and Buck made this little getaway the perfect combination of relaxing local surf culture, a plethora of fun activities like foosball and b8iking the coast, with day trips to the Santa Cruz mountains and Monterey less than an hour away! Can’t beat it.

Made new friends we can wait to come visit again next summer.

Thanks you Bucks!

P.S. We really like checking out all the great mementos you have collected over the years in the Bungalow. It was actually quite educational as well as fun! Very much appreciate you letting us landlocked folks partake in the great surf culture this truly special place in the USA has to offer.

Santa Cruz is a special place, truly unique, vibrant and beautiful!

Perfect Beach Bungalow!

  • 5 of 5

We had such a great time at the Bungalow. The teenage kids really enjoyed having their own space in the Hedge House Loft as they had a video player for their own choice of VHS videos. I enjoyed using the well equipped kitchen and all the thoughtful amenities, ie fluffy bathrobes, bikes, free firewood for the wood stove, and off-street parking for both our cars! We walked over to 41st along the ocean path and found several fascinating stores like the Ivy Co, with unique new and consignment clothes, Modern Life Home & Garden, with amazing items from around the world, and Zen Island a great island of calm and beauty. We also enjoyed sitting on the patio at the East Side Eatery sipping cool drinks and watching all the people walk by. Then walking back to the Bungalow for a well deserved hot tub session in a tub that had more bubbles than any we had ever seen before! The dogs really loved having their own doggy door to the fenced in backyard too! We've already booked our week for next year!

great stay steps from the beach!

  • 5 of 5

what this cottage lacks in space it makes up for in amenities, both indoor and out. Plenty of room for us all to sleep, eat, read, watch Warriors games, and NOT get on each others' nerves! Great layout for dog (fenced backyard and front porch), amazing hot tub, stocked kitchen, tons of beach stuff, bicycles, movies, games, list goes on and on. One block to the beach, where the kids and dogs played until exhausted. 10 minute walk to 41st street with tons of stores, restaurants, and great ice cream. Owners were extremely responsive to email/phone, and patient as my dates changed several times while booking. Highly recommend, especially with a dog!

False advertising.

  • 1 of 5

The location of this home was amazing!!! For that alone, we are thankful. That is however, where the excitement ended. Home was advertised as 2 bedroom sleeps 6. There was no true bedroom, only a murphy bed in a elcove and a futon in the living room (both with curtains to close off). The owners showed up on the property 4 times through out my one week stay for the most bizarre reasons which did not allow any privacy at all when lounging in the back yard and trying to relax. The home was unfortunately rather dirty when we arrived, so we pretended we were camping with a great location. Thankfully I was able to look beyond all the weird and enjoy my trip. I would strongly recommend reading any Yelp reviews prior to booking any additional homes on this or any property. If I had I would have noticed the 1 star ratings countered by the sellers 5 star rating of her own place. All in all, I would not recommend this place to people in the future which is sad, because the location is top notch.

Owner's Response: To all future Guests of the Bungalow. Thank you for taking the time to read the "rest of the story." My husband and I would prefer not to disturb any guests unless they ask for assistance. This is the case on two of the visits, as our Infinity Cable system stopped working (due to unusually bad weather) and she called and asked us to fix it. We did so on both occasions very shortly after receiving her call. The 3rd visit, had a duration of less than 5-minutes as I had just had the privacy curtains cleaned and re-hung and the cleaners misplaced 4 of the curtain rings. The cleaners called me when they found them, and I zipped over to put them up, so they would not have gaping curtains. I apologized when I came to the door and was able to put the rings in place and leave in less than 5-minutes. Neither I nor my husband can understand the reference to a 4th visit as neither of us were there. I hope anyone who is interested in enjoying a wonderful beach home will take a look at the great reviews we have had since 1999. We have a guarantee on our contract that if there is anything that makes you uncomfortable at our home, we will do everything in our power to fix it. It is interesting that I recently read that over 30% of all visitors to Vacation Home feel the need to re-clean the home before they a comfortable in it, so I presume she is on of the 30%. We look forward to your call anytime from 7am-9pm, 7-days a week if we can help you in any way so that you will have a wonderful stay in our area.

Cute Bungalo

  • 4 of 5

We decided on a Last minute get away and contacted the owners and an hour later we were on our way. The property had everything and the hot tub was great. Close to the beach for walking and dogs off leash.
