Wonderfully appointed home in a beautiful location!

  • 5 of 5

Our family spent a week at this home on the shores of Lake Champlain in late August / early September 2017. It’s difficult to find a single negative thing to say other than that the lake itself is somewhat weedy close to the shoreline, although this seems to resolve itself about 25 yards out. It seems to be an issue for the entire lake, however, not just this property, and didn’t really inhibit me from enjoying my morning swims during the time we were there.

The views over the lake are gorgeous, particularly the sunsets. There is a large lawn facing the water which is perfect for croquet or bocce, both of which the owner has thoughtfully provided; others might prefer frisbee or touch football. We rented kayaks for the week which were very easy to launch from a somewhat rocky but level shoreline - but be sure to wear proper footwear to prevent slips and falls! The lake water temperature was about 72° the week we were there.

The owners have provided a hammock for relaxing as well as lawn chairs and benches on the pier and above the beach for those looking for a nice place to sip their morning coffee while watching the local osprey dive for fish. There’s a gas grill which fires up nicely, along with all the necessary barbecue tools.

The home itself is beautifully decorated with an impressive cathedral-ceiling great room overlooking the lawn / lakeshore and three separate bedrooms. The kitchen is equipped with an enormous refrigerator, stove, oven, microwave, and warming drawer as well as every other conceivable kitchen tool or appliance. For those who (sadly) still need to keep up with some office work while away, the WiFi connection is excellent.

For those with kids we would recommend visiting the Shelburne Museum, Crown Point State Historical Site, and the local ice cream store five minutes down the road which introduced us to the delicious world of Creemees, a Vermont specialty. There’s a beautiful little mini golf course right next door to that which should also help to keep the kids occupied for an hour or two. The West Addison General Store (WAGS) is pretty well stocked for casual needs but for groceries we did find ourselves traveling ~25 minutes to Middlebury.

For couples lucky enough to have access to childcare for a night or two, nearby Vergennes (20-minute drive) boasts a wonderful French restaurant called The Black Sheep Bistro which we highly recommend.

Thanks to Jeff and Meera for a wonderful vacation!

Most peaceful and beautiful vacation ever!!

The house was amazing and in the most perfect location. Easy access to get to major roads to attractions and enough privacy to think you alone in the world. The views of the lake were unmatched. Loved watching the bunnies and bees in the gardens.

Sweet Escape

  • 5 of 5

This was a return visit to Lake Champlain at this awesome lakefront home. This has been a dual family vacation spot for years. This year the adults had a vacation of their own. September was a great month to enjoy the lake, yes even swam a few days. Perfect weather for being out and about the area enjoying the many restaurants and breweries that Vermont has to offer. Conveniently located about one hour south of Burlington, easy access to many great points of interest. The house has everything needed to make it your own for the week, just bring your groceries. Jeff and Meera are great to work with and very responsive. We will certainly return soon.

Amazing home and the perfect spot!

  • 5 of 5

I searched for the perfect spot for my family to stay while attending my nephew's wedding on Lake Champlain and I found it with this gorgeous home! It has a beautiful view of the lake and it's just right out the back yard. The owners left nothing out when constructing this stunning home. It is well equipped with everything you need including a gourmet kitchen. All Jenn Air appliances, every type of utensil you could possibly need (and I love to cook so a great kitchen is very important)! The outside space is just as impressive as the inside space. Huge well manicured lawn with beautiful landscaping. Lots of bird watching and rock skipping, our family had a fantastic time and I can't say enough about this home. The owner was great to work with also. We made some wonderful memories. Thanks for sharing your home with us...it was truly our Home Away from home!
