Perfect Getaway - a hidden treasure
We spent a week in this lovely cabin, which we arrived to find very clean and ready for our enjoyment. The construction of the cabin is excellent with a lot of attention to detail. The rooms were big and roomy -- excellent seating in the living room area and the bedrooms had a lot of walking space and places to tuck suitcases and traveling bags out of the way. Our host had provided us a nice load of firewood and other niceties were found throughout the cabin -- books, videos, magazines, games, walking sticks, spices for cooking, shampoo, etc. There is a barbecue grill and a wonderful fire pit for roasting marshmallows. We can highly recommend this as an excellent place to get away and partake of the local activities, walk through the mown meadows to observe all the wildflowers, or amble down to the babbling creek nearby. Lots of privacy and a great respite from city-life and the pressures of day to day responsibilities. The owner(s) was friendly, helpful, and put us at ease to make our stay enjoyable to the max! The photos offered on this site are nice, but do not clearly depict how nice this place really is -- a hidden treasure indeed. Highly recommend!
Great place to unplug
Very clean. Great selection of dvd/vhs movies. AC works very well.
Great place. Peaceful, clean, and comfortable
We will definitely be staying again.
Perfect, secluded get-away!
This cabin was very clean and had all the amenities for preparing and cooking meals. Thoroughly enjoyed our time there. A very nice place to come "home" to after a day of hiking or fishing nearby.
Quiet, relaxing time!
Great way to ring in the new year!
Relaxing weekend getaway!
On a last minute whim, I decided to look for a weekend getaway place for hubby and I. I found the Hinch Creek Cottage and was impressed with it's price and reviews. My dates were available, and the request was booked quickly. Yes, the gravel road was bumpy and yes there were certain things about the cabin that were "rustic" (I would avoid the loveseat if I were you) but overall, it was a great experience and we had a most enjoyable weekend. No cell phone service meant we could actually spend time together talking and not be distracted. We ate a dinner and a breakfast at the Barn and Grille in town (breakfast was MUCH better than dinner), and drove to Cuba to eat at Frisco's another night (my whiskey peppercorn steak was delicious!). During the days we hiked nearby trails, did the cave tour at Onondaga and enjoyed driving around seeing the fall colors. The cabin had a tv and an assortment of vhs and dvds, books, playing cards, maps and brochures of local places and the kitchen had the necessary basics. The bedrooms upstairs were clean, and the one bathroom on the main level was certainly usable. I normally am a "princess and the pea" kind of sleeper, but the bed we used was comfortable and the room was even more enjoyable with the windows open to allow the fresh fall breeze in.
We are located just 10 miles south of Interstate Highway I-44 and 75 miles from St. Louis, Missouri. Come and explore the beauty of the Missouri Ozark Mountains. Tour the caves, vineyards and wineries in the area. Canoe the many rivers and streams in the area. Take a trail ride through the surrounding hills. Six Flags theme park is within a short drive from the cottage.
