Perfect Getaway - a hidden treasure

  • 5 of 5

We spent a week in this lovely cabin, which we arrived to find very clean and ready for our enjoyment. The construction of the cabin is excellent with a lot of attention to detail. The rooms were big and roomy -- excellent seating in the living room area and the bedrooms had a lot of walking space and places to tuck suitcases and traveling bags out of the way. Our host had provided us a nice load of firewood and other niceties were found throughout the cabin -- books, videos, magazines, games, walking sticks, spices for cooking, shampoo, etc. There is a barbecue grill and a wonderful fire pit for roasting marshmallows. We can highly recommend this as an excellent place to get away and partake of the local activities, walk through the mown meadows to observe all the wildflowers, or amble down to the babbling creek nearby. Lots of privacy and a great respite from city-life and the pressures of day to day responsibilities. The owner(s) was friendly, helpful, and put us at ease to make our stay enjoyable to the max! The photos offered on this site are nice, but do not clearly depict how nice this place really is -- a hidden treasure indeed. Highly recommend!

Great place off the beaten path!

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I really enjoyed our stay here at this cute little cottage. Very quiet and peaceful location out in the woods. There were even goats nearby! The cottage itself was very clean and had a firepit and grill outside to use! We were really pleased with this place!

Great place to disconnect; Sam was very helpful and friendly

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I wanted to get away from St. Louis and get closer to nature. We enjoyed everything about our trip including the drive to the cottage. As the description states, it is rustic, but I was impressed with its cleanliness. Nice firepit outside and a great porch to sip coffee on. Unless you have only ever stayed at 5 STAR hotels, you will be very pleased with your accommodations.

Very peaceful and relaxing.

  • 5 of 5

The seclusion made our stay very rewarding. Caught minnows in the brook, and fished the Meramec River which is a short drive to the public access. Nightly bonfires, and daily walks in the Meadows, not forgetting to feed the goats some peanuts on the way. We also got some great pics of the Doe that visited us daily. Sam and Nora are a short walk from cottage if needed, but we didnt have any issues during our stay. We only left the property during our 5 day stay once, and that was to go to Bourbon for a couple of chocolate malts, stopping to fish on the way back. If a peaceful stay away from it all is what you are looking for, this is the place. Even our "city dog" enjoyed herself. (Don't forget to get some honey on your way out. It is VERY good!)
