Description

Photos and Description of this 2 bedroom holiday apartment in Old Town - ABBOT'S

Right in the heart of the old town. Very historic and romantic.

This is our 9th year short-term renting this apt. It is by far our most popular and favourite apt. You can rely on solid, professional and courteous treatment.

We have an assortment of fine properties. To see all of them just click on Owner Info and than at the bottom- All My Rental Listings

This 4 room apt. is located just 3 blocks from the heart of Prague’s historic center -- old town square. Private and quiet, it fronts on a garden and adjacent arcade and loggia. It is next to the small and silent, misty winding streets of the old town, as well as blocks away from the most popular nightspots and many of the city’s best restaurants.

The apartment is fully renovated and fully furnished. One bedroom has a king-sized bed, and the master bedroom has a super-king-sized bed which separates to 2 single beds, plus a living room (with sofa bed) and a kitchen. The living room and master bedroom look to the garden, where it is also possible to sit and relax or eat. A free parking lot is located around the corner from the apartment. The metro is a 5 min. walk. The area is very safe.

The house dates back to gothic times, and has historic details and a magnificent hand-carved late renaissance balustrade in the entry of the building. The city's most popular and visited places -- the Charle's bridge, old town square, the great Parizska street, and Wencelslaus square (shopping district) are all minutes away by foot.

The apt. comfortably sleeps up to 2 couples, and there are also numerous sofa beds for children or guests.

About Robin Moorman

Robin Moorman is from the USA and lives in Prague. He was trained in architecture and design at Cornell, the University of California (Santa Cruz and Berkeley), and in Venice, Italy. He loves historic architecture and its restoration.

Robin Moorman purchased this apartment in 2004

Why Robin Moorman chose Prague 1

I chose to buy a vacation rental in this location because of the profound historical value and fantastic location - blocks away from the old town square, which is the heart of the old town, that means it's located within of the best restaurants and most popular 'hotspots'-- but the house is located on quiet, winding, ancient street.

What makes this apartment unique

You are in the very heart of the historic old town, so all of the great sites are just beyond your doorstep.

Location was Perfect!

  • 5 of 5

Just returned from a week long stay at this lovely apartment...we hated to leave. The location is perfect, minutes from Old Town Square, surrounded by restaurants, attractions and stores...everything is literally outside the door, but just far enough away from the craziness of Old Town Square. Booking was a breeze, we were always in contact, they arranged transportation to and from the airport. This was the first time i had booked on VRBO and was a little nervous about not being disappointed with our choice and we definitely were not. The apartment was spacious, clean...it has old, antique furniture, which is part of the charm, that's exactly what we wanted. They provided a binder with lots of info, WIFI, TV (didn't even turn it on so don't know if it works). The only thing was that you needed to unlock 3 different locks to actually get in, maybe the only challenge we had. It is on the main floor, so easy access with lugging suitcases. There are renovations currently going on in this building and looks like a work in progress but once inside the apartment, its fine. We basically slept there, we were out enjoying this amazing city the entire time. Thanks to Diana who was very helpful and made me feel at ease prior to my trip answering all my questions. I would definitely book this place again!

Owner's Response: Thank you so much Mary! You were a wonderful host too. About the locks there's nothing we can do I'm afraid, as that is pre-determined by our condominium. At least the one chip opens the 1st two doors, and it's super safe of course. I'm happy to say the renovation on the upper floor has finished; we're all happy about that. Thanks so much for staying with us! Robin

Charming and convenient

  • 5 of 5

Robin and Peter arranged our transportation to and from the train station. We were met at the apartment which is charming and cozy. There is a wonderful book with sightseeing and restaurant recommendations and directions. The apartment is very well equipped and we even enjoyed a fire in the fireplace! It is also well located, a very short walk to the Old Town Square. After a long day of sightseeing it was a treat to relax and soak in the tub in the beautifully renovated bathroom. On our last day, our train didn't leave until 5:00 so we wanted to enjoy the day, but didn't know what to do with our luggage. Robin and Peter were incredibly accommodating, and Robin came to the apartment to open the garage for us so we could store our luggage for the day. These two gentlemen provided top notch service and hospitality!

An Overnight to WOW Mom...and us of course!

  • 5 of 5

We just moved to Europe this year and wanted to take my Mom who is visiting someplace close by for 2 days of amazing sightseeing. Prague was a HIT! And this apartment was as well. We were met at the apartment by Robin and his associate, Peter and they both were very friendly and eager to help us get acquainted. We unfortunately had a small issue finding a parking space and I just happened to be short on paying the remaining balance to secure the apartment. NOT A PROBLEM! Right away, Robin and his colleague offered to walk with us to the ATM and ride with us back to the lot where we did find a spot to park after all. The house is completely renovated without lacking old world charm. The courtyard was quiet and blooming with gorgeous flowers. We walked EVERYWHERE without having to hail a cab or utilize transit. There is an INFO book he has put together of restaurant recommendations and we chose the Irish Pub across the street for lunch which was GREAT! We also chose Pizza Nuova for dinner which was the best meal we had in Prague! Unlimited gourmet pizza and pasta sampling with amazing wine...how could that be bad?! When we came back to settle in, the Irish Bar was hopping with noise but once we got inside the doors, it was like we were blocks away. We slept sound all through the night and rested and ready for day 2! My only complaint would be that we didn't stay an extra night. Maybe next time...

Perfect accommodations in Prague!

  • 5 of 5

Charming "old world" apartment in perfect location in Prague. Situated near the best restaurants and boulangeries, and within a couple of blocks of Old Town Square. Warm, very clean and inviting rooms... even included a much appreciated fireplace when the temp during our visit reached 19 degrees! Robin was extremely helpful with and reactive to all questions/requests. Highly recommend and would book again without any hesitation.

Great location!

  • 4 of 5

This apartment served us very well for our first trip to Prague over the New Year period. It is very convenient to the Old Town Square (couple of mins walk ) and is set in a very old and charming building. As other reviewers have mentioned it is also very quiet despite being close to main tourist area. We walked to all of the hotspots and were delighted with the snowfall. (Please pack a good pair of flat walking shoes as many orignal cobble stoned streets throughout) It has many good restaurants, pubs and bakeries very close by. Great food was had at Kolkovene Bar, Trattoria Al Dente. Wonderful soup and service at Le Court (also returned in the evening to try out Czech Grog to keep out the winter chill ) The Irish pub directly opposite the building is also worth a visit. Whilst we did not use the cooking or washing facilities, everything was in place and for groceries there is also a small store around the corner from the irish pub.The apartment was spacious and would easily accomodate 4 comfortably. My only minor complaint would be the quality of the pillows and towels, however it would not stop me recommending this apartment to family or friends. Robin (the owner ) also organised taxi pick up and drop off to the airport. All in all we had a great time and would love to visit Prague again during the warmer months.

Owner's Response: After receiving this news I went out the next day and bought high-quality pillows for the whole apt. and a new collection of luxurious towels. We rent a lot of apts. so sometimes we need a little reminder to know what needs refreshing. Keeping our renters happy and keeping our apts. as luxurious as possible is paramount for us...

Location and charm

  • 4 of 5

Great location just minutes walk from Old Town Square, Charles Bridge, and the excellent Kolkoveny restaurant. The owner and his team were excellent in attending to transportation, directions, and solving a minor problem quickly. As others have said, this is an older building but comfortable and very workable for 4. While there the TV satellite dish was out, but who goes to Prague to watch TV. Also, no smoke detectors--a bit of a concern in an older building. But we would certainly stay there again.

Owner's Response: thanks for taking the time to post a review. In general we always appreciate feedback from guests very much. I just wanted to mention that in fact smoke detectors are very uncommon here in CZ because buildings are usually made from brick. Our building here is made from stone! In the USA it is usually timber-frame construction so fire is a much greater risk. In any case I see it's important for guests so we will put smoke detectors in the apt. About the TV I would have been happy to sort that out for you (we only need to know about it). Every once in a while the receiver freezes up so it probably just needed a cold reboot, but otherwise I would have come there to sort it out if necessary. We really do try to do everything we can for our guests to have a great time while they're here in Prague.
