Panoramic paradise
My husband and I travel to Koblenz for business several times a year, staying in hotels apart hotels etc. This apartment is superlative to all accommodations we have ever rented. The architecture and vistas are second to none. We were a group of 5 adults and there was plenty of room and privacy in the layout of the apartment. Exceptionally clean and inviting with homemade jam awaiting us ! Arriving on a Sunday when shops are closed, the host arranged at a minimal costs breakfast foods for the morning. If available we would love to stay here again, and again. Thank you Dagmar for your hospitality, your response time and use of your beautiful home.

A glamorous holiday apartment in Koblenz
This huge apartment is situated in the Altstadt quarter of Koblenz, near the Ehrbreitstein Fortress. The living room seemed large enough to rehearse the Stuttgart Ballet Company in and had floor to ceiling windows all around, offering far reaching urban views over the Rhine and Koblenz city. The dining room and master bedroom also possessed these windows which could slide open to reveal the balcony which ran around the outside and where we sat most of the time. The apartment was cheerfully decorated in a blend of traditional and contemporary design, it was magnificently appointed and it was obvious that careful thought had gone into the comfort of guests. There was a fully functioning kitchen and in the cellar there was an excellent laundry room; the entire house was cleaned to perfection. The owner, Dagmar, lives in Hamburg, but communicated clearly and helpfully with us at all times, including finding and booking a vet for our Golden Retriever (for the UK Pet Passport Scheme requirements). Lidl was nearby, but it was smaller and with far more restricted product lines than the English branches. The better option was REWE, about the same distance away in the opposite direction. There was an excellent bookshelf filled with books and tourist information. As a location it was ideal, allowing us to travel both northwards and southwards along the River Rhine for sightseeing. The Moselle Valley was another option, but we had already had a holiday there. The Lahn Valley and Bad Ems was also a terrific discovery and well worth the visit. There was an allocated parking space, but even in a small car, getting into and out of it was tricky. The main downside for us was access, either down a steep footpath or up flights of stone steps, neither of them easy with heavy baggage or family shopping: definitely unsuitable for the unfit or infirm. We had an enjoyable stay and a fabulous holiday in sunny Germany that we will remember forever. Our grateful thanks go to Dagmar for making it possible.

Room With A View!!!
The photographs of this wonderful apartment don't do it justice, it is wonderful!! The views from the floor to ceiling windows are astounding and we spent a good deal of our time watching the world go by either from inside or from the comfy chairs out on the balcony. The apartment has everything you need for a very comfortable holiday. Comfy beds, plenty of nice thick towels and a wonderful bathroom and kitchen. The kitchen has every utensil you would ever need, in the tidiest drawers I have ever seen!! Also, there were very welcome extras such as spices, condiments, coffee tea and best of all a lovely bottle of wine! The apartment is across from Koblenz, but there is a ferry within a 10 minute walk which operates during the day every day apart from Monday. Otherwise it is a pleasant 30 minute walk into the City. We also used the train - it is mainly a freight line from Ehrenbreitstein, but there is an hourly passenger train into Koblenz HBF with regular trains wherever you wish to travel. There are numerous good restaurants, take aways and ice cream parlours in Koblenz, our favourite was the Pegelhaus - fab food, lovely riverside setting and very friendly service. There is a nice and very friendly Indian/Italian/German restaurant, Hotel Sessellift just down the road in the former Rathaus. If you are used to Indian cuisine in UK, I would recommend the traditional German food which was lovely. On hot days there is a really nice Freibad on the banks of the Rhine at Oberwerth which is about a 15 minute drive, we really enjoyed our days there. There is a Lidl just 10 minutes down the hill or a REWE about 15 minutes up the hill, both had everything we wanted. There is a huge amount to do and see around the area - Castles, Fortresses, Museums and beautiful towns and villages. I traveled with my husband and sons aged 16 and 19 and we were busy every day and there is a lot we just didn't have time to do. Some things to bear in mind - the fabulous view means steep paths and lots of steps even 10 minute walk to the Lidl was a good work out for my legs!! Also, there is a freight rail line which runs 24/7 and a bell tower very near to the main bedroom so I wouldn't say the apartment is peaceful, but you quickly get used to the different sounds. All in all, a fabulous holiday!

A Room With A View!!!
The pictures of this apartment really do not do it justice, it is superb!! The first thing you notice is the amazing view from the full length windows on 2 full sides of the apartment, and the view from the kitchen is also lovely. We spent most of our time in the apartment enjoying the view from inside and out and now we are home, we find most of our pictures are of the amazing sunsets we watched. The apartment was pristine clean, plenty of towels with lovely comfy beds. The shower room is just fabulous and so was the kitchen where the drawers are full of everything you could ever need including herbs and spices. Also coffee, tea and a lovely bottle of wine! There is a ferry service which runs during the day every day except Monday and is only a 10 minute walk and takes you into Koblenz, but when it isn't running, it was a pleasant half hours walk to get into the city. We also used the train, there is only an hourly service from Ehrenbreitstein, but once you get into the main station in Koblenz, there are plenty of trains. For shopping there is a very good Lidl just down the road and a REWE a bit further up. On hot days there is a lovely Freibad at Oberwerth, lovely pools right on the banks of the Rhine. I traveled with my husband and sons aged 16 and 19 and we found more than enough to do for a 2 week stay. There are numerous restaurants in Koblenz and a very friendly Italian/German/Indian restaurant in the former Rathaus about 5 minutes walk from the apartment. Things to be aware of - the fabulous view does mean steep roads, paths and lots of steps, even a quick trip to the shop means a good work out for your legs! The Rail freight line does run all night so there is the sound of trains rattling along and there is a bell tower not far from the main bedroom!! However, none of this bothered us or spoiled our fabulous holiday!!
