When you are enjoying the sea view on the 35sqm terrace of our corner bungalow listening to the sound of the birds in the nearby Barranco (gorge) you have chosen an ideal holiday site in the mild tempered and green north of the island of eternal spring. Your spacious, fully equipped vacation retreat is in the front line near the sea of the 24,000 sqm sub-tropical park of the 4* resort La Quinta Park Suites and Spa that offers pools, a spa and all kinds of amenities. Here you are downhill and well removed from the hustle and bustle of the hotel uphill. Which does not mean that you are all by yourself – the garden is shared with many geckos, small colourful lizards and birds. Located just outside of Puerto de la Cruz the quiet La Quinta quarter of Santa Ursula is the ideal starting point for all kinds of activities to everyone’s liking. Self-catering, alternatively half-board in the hotel is possible.

How about going hiking this time during your holidays (Anaga mountains, Cañadas), on your own or joining one of the many guided tours for all levels of difficulty? Alternatively you could go on an outing to one of the beautiful black sand beaches in and around Puerto de la Cruz (Playa de Jardines, Playa Bollullo, El Socorro) or discover the mysteries of the native Guanches in the museums of Santa Cruz or Puerto de la Cruz and - especially spectacular – at the pyramids of Güimar. Of course, Loro Parque and the botanical garden in Puerto de la Cruz are a ‚must see‘, just as the trip to the summit of the Teide.... and this list is by no means exhaustive. If you let us know what you are particularly interested in, we might be able to give you some ideas.

Now supposing you don’t feel like a lot of action, well then, treat yourself to a massage in the hotel spa or rather weight lifting in the gym? Finally take some tennis lessons again, have a mini golf or ping-pong tournament with your kids? Still too much action? Then swim a few laps in the hotel pool with a view of Mount Teide and retire to your 62 sqm apartment. Even a genuine chef could run wild in this kitchen, it’s got everything (stove/oven, microwave, toaster, utensils– even knives that cut(!) -, dishwasher, washing machine).

Thus self-catering is no problem, Santa Ursula has various supermarkets, the little shop across the street from the hotel entrance offers fresh bread for breakfast. You will probably not need the dining table adjoining the kitchen, because your meal will taste so much better on the scenic terrace facing west. When the sun gets too hot, just open the marquee. If it is still too hot, you can take refuge in the little garden (20 sqm) on the entrance side full of flowers climbing up the lava-stone walls. If on certain days the ‘eternal spring’ is not as mild as it should be, just turn on the electric radiator on rollers.

Especially on weekends the hotel hosts events in the bar – folklore or live music and dancing. If you want to mingle and there is nothing on TV, have a drink at the bar and join the fun – btw – it is said that there is a great tango place with live music in downtown Puerto.

The outdoor pools, table tennis, mini-golf etc. on the premises are free of charge, tennis, the heated indoor pool, sauna, jacuzzi, gym and massages are subject to fees.

You can add a personal touch to your pretty holiday home with one of the table cloths stowed in the drawer in the living room.

We put together a small library with books on the history and flora and fauna of the island. Games are there too as well as binoculars. By now a good collection of restaurant recommendations exists in the form of cards or brochures. Alternatively one can eat at the hotel restaruant. All meals are buffet-style, no prior booking required 'pay as you eat'.The premises are fenced in, the front desk has 24 hour service and there is a security patrol at night. Free WiFi in the house. Please be aware that it is a non-smoking apartment.

REcent stay

Just as describet. Perfect location especially for those wanting to explore the northern part of the island. The bungalow is very private and with an excellent,but not overlooked, view. All the equipment that one needs,even heaters, but you are unlikely to need those in Tenerife. Ideally one should arrive in daylight because the direct route may be hard to identify, but we arrived in the dark and found our way without too much difficulty. We didn't use the hotel facilities but those who did found them good. Be very happy to stay here again.

Tenerife at its best

We had a wonderful holiday staying in this this very comfortable and very well-equipped bungalow. It provided an excellent base for exploring the north coast and the volcanic centre of Tenerife. After a day of coastal walks, exploring old towns or hiking in the mountains we enjoyed the spectacular sunsets while having dinner on the bungalow terrace.

Amazing location and value for money

My husband and I booked this wonderful property for a 10 day vacation in Tenerife. We wanted privacy with all the conveniences of a large resort ( beautiful pool, large restaurant, spa... if we wanted to use them) We found it all in the property. The views were absolutely breathtaking, the apartment was very comfortable and superbly appointed with all and I say all the comforts of home. It was located close enough to the highway access for convenience but could not hear any noise. We gladly recommend this place for a relaxing vacation or for, like us, a jumping off point for an active vacation of hiking and sightseeing.

Lovely self catering bungalow in North Tenerife

A lovely self catering family bungalow with excellent facilities. The kitchen is well stocked with all the relevant cooking equipment and crockery etc. All rooms are light and airy. Wonderful balcony which we used every day after each days activities (a lovely sun trap) with canopy. Good location with the added bonus of being able to use the hotel's facilities, eg pool, spa, gym, classes, tennis, lobby for the evening entertainment, kids club. Predominantly Spanish and German speaking so it was nice for us Brits to try to speak some Spanish. Ideal location for the North of Tenerife (eg Mount Teide, Anaga Mountains, La Orotava, though the South is only an hour away so the zoo and water parks are accessible). Car recommended. A very relaxed holiday indeed, highly recommend this property.

A wonderful, private property with great views

The property is exactly as described, clean and well maintained throughout with lots of little extras that you don't normally find, such as washing up liquid, cooking oil and herbs and spices, patio seat cushions!

The patio area was the true highlight for us with good quality furniture, an awning and parasol for extra shade if required and truly beautiful views to the West as shown, to the East it was interrupted by just a couple of well maintained properties. It was just the perfect place to relax no matter what time of the day or evening. Everything is exactly as shown in the photos, nothing to disappoint

There was no noise from the hotel in the evening, we didn't eat there at all but plenty of people did and the food looked ok. We didn't use the pool but it looked to be spotlessly clean. The whole complex was constantly being tended by hotel staff whilst we were there, hence all of the properties and grounds surrounding the apartment are clean and well maintained.

The only downside for us was that we arrived in the dark and whilst finding the complex was easy, we struggled somewhat with the various keys and locks and we had also bought lots of shopping in addition to cases so it was a long struggle to the apartment as all parking is off the complex. We always found a parking space nearby but more importantly in daylight we found a little trolley and basket under the stairs at the front which would have been a great help so if you do arrive at night look out for that. Of course the next day, we soon got the hang of everything once we could more easily see what we were doing.

It's just a couple of minutes drive to get on to main roads and then everywhere was very easily accessible.

Communications with the owner were easy and we found her to be extremely helpful and prompt in response to our enquiries. We would happily recommend Flor-Y-Mar to friends and would stay there should we ever visit Tenerife again.

Our corner bungalow is tugged away in the front line to the sea of the 24,000 sqm sub-tropical park of the 4* resort La Quinta Park Suites that forms the quiet quarter La Quinta of the town of Santa Ursula. There are also some residential houses and villas embedded in a eucalyptus forest near the cliffs just outside Puerto de la Cruz. Peaceful Santa Ursula is just a short hour from the Reina Sofia Airport and offers a variety of small shops and big super-markets. Behind the famous old tourist town of Puerto de la Cruz (7km away, shuttle bus available) that sports Loro Parque, Lago Martianez, botanical gardens and a picturesque, busy old town, the lush, scenic Orotava Valley stretches uphill to where the Cañadas (lava fields) below the summit of mount Teide start. If you are going for scenery with a history move up the coast to the north: the place names tell the tale of the Guanche’s courageous fight against the Spanish invaders– Valle de la Guerra (valley of war), La Matanza (the carnage), La Victoria (the victory). Today the area is known for its good wine and breath-taking views. Still further north hikers will find all kinds of paths to their heart’s delight in the Anaga Mountains. The cute little towns in the area (La Laguna, La Orotava) where lots of little street-side bares tempt you to sit down and have a Barranquito (won’t give away this one!) are also well worth a visit just as the great black sand beaches (closest in 5 km is El Bollullo).

By the way, Santa Ursula boasts the largest concentration of Guachinches (tiny, homely pub/eateries), however, these are not the only place to have a good meal, if you choose not to do your own cooking.

In short- it’s a quiet place amidst the North’s lush vegetation and doubles as an ideal starting point for all kinds of endeavours. Rental car is recommended.
