About Valerie Evans
We're two families who own the house together (one in Pennsylvania, one in Nova Scotia) and when we're not there are happy to have others enjoy Vieques at our home away from home.
Valerie Evans purchased this Villa in 2003
What makes this Villa unique
The breezy patio so close to the turquoise water and the constant sound of the waves. Watching the pelicans fly along the curl of the waves, the fishermen out in early morning, the frigate birds soaring, the ferries coming and going. Iguanas sunbathing on a tree above the water.

We booked the Reefhouse for 3 days and thoroughly enjoyed our stay there. The view was gorgeous and everything was close by and within walking distance. We needed to stay an extra day because of weather and the property manager and owner were extremely helpful and accommodating. I highly recommend the Reefhouse.
Great place for my kids and husband to feel as if they were home. They enjoyed the ease in getting to the property and the quiet street. It was a great experience for all of us, but mainly it was a few great days to forget about everything in the states and focus on spending quality time together. Thanks Valerie!
Is a nice place. Needs some improvements, but comfortable. I bet hurracaine Maria hit it very hard because of its location, but it doesn't look like it did. Sorry to leave.,,😞
Thank you for staying with us, and so glad you enjoyed your stay The whole island was hard hit by the hurricane, but we were luckier than most. We're happy that many people are coming this season so that the island can recover well, and you can see it in the welcome the locals give.
GORGEOUS OCEAN VIEWS
We were beyond happy with this house! It is a great location close to town, clean, and well kept with everything you could need. The view is absolutely amazing. Valerie was very communicative with great recommendations for our stay on Vieques. Kikito, the house manager, was great and easy to work with as well. I can't say enough good things about this property!
We were so happy to host you and glad you enjoyed the stay! We love to share this lovely little island.
Perfect location, comfortable home, great host!
We really enjoyed our stay at the Reef House. We had been to Vieques twice before and had stayed in another rental, up on a hill. We loved that the Reef House was on the ocean, but elevated enough so that there is a breeze and we would be safe from tsunamis. :) The house is shaded by trees, and the sound of waves are ever present.
We loved being within walking distance to town, and we watched surfers right in front of the house on one of the days when the waves were particularly big. We walked to town every morning (no threatening dogs on the way). A huge iguana visited one morning on the front lawn and deck. The coqui frogs made a lovely noise every night.
I was happily surprised that we weren't near any barking dogs or roosters, which is common in many neighborhoods of Vieques. The power did go out a couple of times around Thanksgiving and the day after, but then never again during our stay. It wasn't a problem for us: we just lit candles and cooked using the grill!
Overall, the roads are clear and the island is looking good since Maria. I think it's totally visitable now. The grocery stores were full of food; the beaches looked great (our favorites are Navio an Curacas). We snorkeled off of Mosquito Pier and saw a manta ray and sea turtle and tons of small, beautiful fish.
Be careful if you hang out on the beach sand around dusk or if there is no breeze. Sand fleas were plentiful on the beach near Mosquito Pier, and their bites can cause quite a reaction in the unlucky person.
We would definitely stay here again. Val was so communicative and helpful via email. The property was comfortable and secure. Quiet neighborhood overall. Just really nice!
Thank you so much for your comments. Great to see a turtle and manta ray off Mosquito pier! It's true, we are happy to be in such a quiet area, with the sound of the waves.
We'd be happy to welcome you back.
Overall I had a great stay in this property, and had excellent communication with the owners of the house, and the house manager in the small island of Vieques. I had a very pleasant experience, and when I go back to Vieques, I would not think twice about staying here again! Vieques is doing well and needs more people to visits its many beauties.
Thank you for your comments and so glad you enjoyed the stay and are encouraging for others to come.
Please some back and visit us anytime!
