Paparoa Bach is a charming cottage set within 5 acres of rural, waterfront land, 95 mins north of Auckland.
This cosy, airy Kiwi bach is well equipped for everything you need for a peaceful and relaxing stay. Stunning rural and water views from all living area windows and the decks.
We love dogs! Well-behaved doggies are very welcome inside and out at the Bach. Due to sheep in fields, and neighbours' cattle/alpacas etc they MUST be under control at all times. The immediate area around the Bach is fully contained.
The open-plan living area has incredible views, a wood fire, a flatscreen Freeview TV, DVD player, CD/radio, DVDs, books and boardgames.
The well equipped kitchen also has beautiful views. Fridge/freezer, oven, microwave, plus all the necessary cutlery, pots and pans, glasses, toaster, kettle, toasted sandwich maker and coffee plunger.
The master bedroom has a king size bed, plus hanging and drawer space.
The second bedroom has a double bed, with a single bed bunk (with safety rail) at the top.
(Both bedrooms were newly painted, and have new beds in 2017)
The top field closest to the bach has level areas suitable for outdoor games etc. We often have sheep in the lower fields that border the estuary waterfront. Feel free to wander down (borrow our gum boots!) and explore. Kids will love the tyre swings! NB The estuary is muddy and not suitable for swimming. However Pahi beach is just a short drive away.
Ample parking on drive.
Paparoa village is a 6 min drive (5km) with a village store, cafe, dairy/fish n chips/takeaway, and playground. Bush walks.
The Kauri Museum, Matakohe is 8 minutes away by car (6km). You can wander around the outside buildings and gardens (free), and visit the cafe opposite.
Pahi is 10km away, with lovely beach walks, campground and children’s playground.
Maungaturoto is a 20 min drive (17km) with cafes, takeaways, Four Square, great children’s playround.
Waipu is a 35 min drive. We recommend eating at McLeods Pizza Barn! (Waipu Cove's beautiful beach is nearby.)
Dargaville is a 40 min drive (50km) with cafes, shops, restaurants and cinema.
Baylys Beach is a further 12 min drive from Dargaville, with awesome surf.
Smoking allowed outside only.
Pets welcome by arrangement - must be under control around livestock. (We are dog lovers and stay at the bach often with our dog)
The immediate decking area around the house is fully fenced (suitable for young children/dogs).
The house is set far back from the waterfront - the field closest to the property is fenced (to cow standards).
There is no washing machine at the bach.
