Overview

About the property

Chalet, 3 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, (Sleeps 6)

Wrapped in wood, this cozy ski lodge is a joy to come home to after a day in the great outdoors.

This peaceful retreat sits between Ruapehu's Turoa and Whakapapa ski-fields allowing guests to make the most of their ski holiday - simply choose which field has the best conditions on the day.

During the day, enjoy easy access to ski slopes, bike trails and Ohakune village. At night snuggle up with friends or family around the log fire to catch up on the day, cook delicious meals from well equipped kitchen and watch a DVD. Later you can challenge your party to a game of monopoly or end the day with a long soak in the outdoor tub.

The outdoor bath fits 2 comfortably and is perfectly positioned on the deck for looking out over the bush and the mountain, or at night - for star gazing. It is fed by an infinity gas hot water system.

All bedrooms are accessed from the tree trunk stairwell. The master bedroom houses a queen bed and desk space for your laptop. The second bedroom consists of a queen bed and a 'bunk room' - a cozy space enjoyed by kids and adults alike. The bunk room is separated for privacy by a permanent dividing wall. The sunny little balcony off the bedrooms is the perfect spot to enjoy your morning coffee and soak in the views. Beds are made up on your arrival and freshly laundered towels are provided.

Ski and bike storage is easy in the covered carport while the log fire and drying cupboard make getting you gear ready for the next day easy.

Children love the log cabin (and arguing over who gets the top bunk). For their safety a stair gate and a fire guard is provided.

The cabin is located off SH4 near the northern exit of the "Old Coach Road" cycle-way in Horopito. Ohakune and National Park Village are both a short drive away making this a great location to access the region's skiing, cycling, golfing and hiking.

Special conditions:

Pet Friendly - Please advise when bringing pets

Extras: Cleaning (Required, NZ$60.00 per stay); Linen (included);

About Olivia Bishop

Steve and myself are Ruapheu locals, living on our farm which borders the Tongariro National Park. We are fortunate to have unobstructed views of Mount Ruapehu with Ohakune as our local town where we enjoy the cafes and restaurants the village has to offer.

The great outdoors is our backyard with both summer and winter activities, cycling, skiing, hiking and rafting to name a few. We love to get out there both at home and abroad!

We are excited to be able to offer guest the gorgeous Swiss Chalet property for their stay in Ohakune.

Outstanding! This place is so well set up for a winter ski trip with the log fire and drying room.

Outstanding! This place is so well set up for a winter ski trip with the log fire and drying room. We loved our stay, the house is very nice and clean and cosy. We took our puppy down and she was able to roam around the farm. The spa bath was great for after skiing and the kids loved the staircase. I can only speak positively about the house and for all those naysayers on this...they are being very petty. I would recommend it to anyone...we'll be back, the ideal house for a family getaway

Beautiful little cabin. Peaceful 15min away from Ohakune. Place was tidy and comfortable with good beds. Spa outside is nice but definitely only fits 2ppl max.

The 'Spa' is actually an outdoor spa bath and is pretty small.

The 'Spa' is actually an outdoor spa bath and is pretty small.

The bunk beds and one double bed are actually in the same room (so no privacy between the two).

Could maybe do with a coffee table for board games.

Otherwise very well-equipped, warm, pleasant, tidy, and well-located, being only 15min from Ohakune.
