About the property

By the Beach - Dogs Welcome - WIFI - Multi Fuel Stove

Eilean Feoir meaning Grass Island in Gaelic, is a tastefully decorated, bright and spacious cottage in the beautiful village of Portuairk. Occupying a peaceful spot on the hillside of the village it is only a stones throw away from the water's edge, the perfect location for a family holiday right by the beach, with magnificent views over to Sanna Bay and out to the Small Isles in the distance. Watch the tide ebb and flow from your living room window whilst you enjoy the warmth from the multi-fuel stove. There is an abundance of wildlife in the area, which makes it an excellent base for nature lovers – look out for golden eagles, red deer and pine martens as well as basking sharks and dolphins in the summer months. For the more energetic, there are marked circular walks up and over the surrounding hills and cliffs. For spellbinding scenery and unforgettable sunsets, it never fails to impress.

On one level: Front porch leading to a hallway, living room with multi fuel stove and a large open-plan kitchen/dining area and a utility room. One double bedroom with en-suite shower, toilet and washbasin and two twin bedrooms. Separate bathroom with bath, toilet and washbasin.

We had a great stay here with family in March 2018. The house has lovely views over the bay, sea, islands and hills.

It also has a lovely 'home from home' feel with lots of extras in the house such as books, childrens stuff such as jigsaws etc and is well-equipped. The view from the lounge and front bedrooms is of the bay, sea, islands and hills. The kitchen and dining area is spacious and sunny with views of the hills and the chance of seeing deer.

We did lots of great walking from here to the lighthouse (4 miles away) and Sanna bay (1 mile away) and saw seals in the bay outside the house as well as a golden eagle over Sanna bay!

Thank You

Wonderful holiday.

Beautiful house in a lovely part of Scotland. Local facilities are minimal, so take everything you need. House was very clean and comfortable.

Off the beaten track!

If you want an out of the way holiday with great sea views across to Eigg, Rhum etc, then you will love this. The cottage is very well equipped, even coal was provided for the fire. The views from the living room are fantastic. The tide retreats a long way, which if that fits in with your stay, is great to walk on. Sanna is close by but it is quite a challenging walk to get there,( not if you're walkers) or a 6 mile car journey. But it is well worth the effort. The ferry to Mull is close, so it's easy for a day in Tobermory. There is a shop about 20 mins, by car away but it is advisable to come prepared with plenty of food!

What a location!

  • 5 of 5

With a view overlooking the bay, with views of Muck, Eigg & Rhum, it was hard sometimes to actually go out. All was very comfortable and the house was well-equipped with everything we needed for a stay away, including games, books, jigsaws, binoculars.

No need for television (although there is one, we never had it on) with so much to see out of the window that was interesting, cheerful and peaceful! The stove in the lounge gives out excellent heat and is very easy to look after.

There is useful information about places to visit, the local Indian takeaway that delivers to the door.

And the advantage of going in September is the lack of midges!!
