About the property

Recently renovated bungalow, open plan living with sea views, 3 bed & 2 bath

Situated on Bay View Road, a sought after road to live on, is our newly refurbished detached bungalow in an elevated position with panoramic views over Westward Ho! and Bideford Bay.

To the front of the bungalow we have a private driveway, big enough for four cars, a garden with good sized lawn and a patio with table & chairs to enjoy the sun during the day. Our front door opens into the lobby with a wc, and leads to the open plan living area. In here you will find the kitchen, dining, and lounge areas all looking out to sea through the windows and large bi-fold doors framing the view and opening to the patio and lawn. The kitchen has the usual built in appliances, being a dishwasher, waste-disposal, fridge, microwave, electric oven & induction hob. We invite our guests to enjoy the Nespresso coffee machine supplied with a selection of coffees. The breakfast bar separates the kitchen from the dining table and chairs which is positioned to enjoy the view via a large floor to ceiling window. Beside this window are five bi-fold doors which can be fully opened to bring the outdoors into the lounge and enjoy the stunning view. They open out to a large patio area with table & chairs, and a barbecue with gas supplied. The patio is surrounded by lawns and garden. In the lounge we have a SMEG fire, a 42" tv with BT open view and fibre broadband, Sky, Blu-ray player, Playstation 3 and a bluetooth radio/music player which can play your music from your phone, iPad or computer. A selection of books, games, dvd's and playstation games are provided. A door from here leads into the three bedrooms and bathroom. All the bedrooms have built in wardrobes and tv's. The master bedroom has views out to sea and has a super-king size bed. It has an en-suite bathroom with a large walk-in shower. The double bedroom has a king size bed and the third bedroom has two single beds. These are serviced by a family bathroom which contains a bath and shower. Towels and bedding are provided.

From the kitchen a door leads to the garage. This has been converted to a utility and storage area. In here we have a sink, washing machine, tumble dryer, additional fridge/freezer, iron & ironing board, and beach towels.

The bungalow has gas central heating. Underfloor heating in the living space and bathrooms, radiators in the bedrooms.

A cot can be provided on request.

Regret no smoking or dogs and not ideally suited for wheelchairs.

About Claire Ellicott

We have a family business and have been fortunate to live in North Devon by the sea all our lives. We live down the road from the bungalow which we purchased in 2015 in a very sad state and wanted to bring it back to life, and are now proud to offer it for holiday rental. Our plan is to retire to the bungalow in 20ish years and enjoy the views. We have 2 young girls and spend a lot of time in Westward Ho! at the beach, the park and eating ice cream on the sea front. With the girls we do lots of walking around the coast line. When the grandparents are able to babysit we like to socialise in the bars & restaurants. Our favourite is eating outside on the seafront terrace of The Pier House watching the sunset over the island of Lundy. We are very lucky to be able to live here and wouldn't wish to live anywhere else.

We had a fabulous week in westward ho visiting beaches & crabbing

The bungalow is finished to a very high standard and was well equipped, Claire & Kevin had thought of everything you could want making it a home from home stay. Would definitely recommend.

Immaculate

We had lovely weather so able to enjoy the garden as well.Bungalow was spotless and really comfortable .Sky TV with sports channels was unexpected.

Everything you could want and more plus the views and sunsets were brilliant.My wife uses a stick or a mobility scooter and had no trouble at all getting around the garden or home.Plenty of walks for the disabled around the area.Claire and family were great as were the neighbours.We used the recommended eating out places and they were all very good.

Golf clubs were also very good and friendly and the men had no trouble getting games at reasonable prices.

We hope to return next year.

Superbly appointed, luxurious and practical.

The attention to detail here is superb. Nothing has been overlooked in my opinion. A bit of luxury and at the same time it’s practical. Everything works and corners have definitely not been cut. Oh yes, and the views aren’t bad either!

Fist class accommodation, beautifully designed and easy to use facilties

We had felt we had booked a lovely place from the website details yet upon entering the first time we were even more overwhelmed by its beauty, hygiene and comfortable furnishings.

Bungalow was a base for our visits in and around North Devon and used as our haven for eating our early and late day meals. The kitchen and dining areas were ideal for our family whilst enjoying the stunning overlooking view of Westward Ho sea activities during breakfast and dinner times.

Claire and Kevin Ellicott couldn't have been more helpful answering our early queries, all were dealt with promptly and comprehensively.

The Big Sheep is a theme park based around sheep. Lots of farm animals to see. Large indoor play area and lots of rides including the largest rollercoaster in the south west. Nice food and suitable for all ages. Distance within 2 miles.

Westward Ho! beach stretches for 2 miles and is famous for its pebble ridge. This ridge protects the oldest golf course in England 'Royal North Devon' from the Atlantic ocean. Distance within 1 mile.

Local public house is 'The Pig On The Hill' has a good traditional menu and Sunday roasts. It has an outdoor play area and a few animals. Distance within 1 mile.

A range of restaurants and bars in Westward Ho!, the favourites for us being 'The Pier House' right on the sea front. Fabulous outside dining watching the sunset or recommend window seat inside. An extensive menu including fresh fish. Also looking out to sea is 'Morans' Thai restaurant, next door to a traditional fish 'n' chip shop in the centre of Westward Ho!, both recommended.

In Northam there is our local swimming pool with a newly fitted out fitness suite. Northam also houses our local library. Distance within 1 mile.

Appledore is approx 2 miles and is a fishing port with lots of history. Try crabbing on the sea wall. Lots of bars and restaurants here too, often hidden in the very narrow back streets.

Within 10 minutes drive is the Atlantic Village outlet shopping centre in Bideford with the likes of Asda, Marks & Spencers, Nike & Gap. Near here is the Atlantic Racquet Centre with 6 outdoor tennis courts and an indoor racquet centre to come in 2017. Visitors are welcome. Bideford has a large park and a long quay for large boats where you can take a day trip to Lundy island.

Barnstaple is the largest town in North Devon, 10 miles form us. This has a traditional High Street containing Green Lanes shopping centre, a historic market and Butchers Row. There is a cinema and leisure centre with Tarka tennis centre next door with 6 indoor courts.
