About Property Manager
Although we originally hail from the USA and the UK, we have spent our lives living abroad and travelling throughout the world. With such a hectic lifestyle, we try to escape to the island of Hvar as often as possible, where we totally relax and enjoy the beautiful and healthy surroundings!
Property Manager purchased this Villa in 2004
Why Property Manager chose Vrisnik
We love places with a sense of history, authenticity, beauty and charm. Pitve, a medieval village with cobblestone streets, has all of this, and we think that we have found a unique gem. We greatly enjoyed renovating The Architect's House to a high standard, maintaining its structural and rustic character, but at the same time ensuring a high quality to the interior design, importing fixtures and furniture from various parts of Europe. We also love the fact that it is very cosmopolitan - of course, there are many local Croatians live in the village, who wholeheartedly welcome owners and visitors from all over the world - but also, it is very inclusive, with no one group of foreign nationals predominating. We also love the friendliness in the village - which is one reason so many guests return again and again - they, like us, really enjoy the welcome!
What makes this Villa unique
The Architect's House is close to the sea and wonderful seaside villages and beaches - all offering so much to do and see. However, the special benefit of Pitve is that, at the end of a day at the beach or in town, you can escape the crowds to the most special and charming hideaway. Pitve has no commercial enterprises - except for one highly-acclaimed restaurant - a real bonus to be able to enjoy a wonderful meal without having to get into a car! Additionally, The Architect’s House is located in a pedestrian cul-de-sac , which makes it very private. It is such a treat to return from a day’s nearby excursion and have the choice of strolling to a family-run restaurant/taverna, or just stay home and have a quiet evening dining in your very own stone courtyard (P.S. – Ivica, the owner of the Dvor Dubokovic restaurant in Pitve, has been known to be very graciously accommodating if asked to prepare one of his superb meals for you to take back and enjoy a romantic dinner in the privacy of The Architect’s House)!

We had a great time in the Architects House - a beautifully restored cottage in the middle of this lovely quiet village, with a good restaurant a short walk away. Nikol checked us in and was very friendly & helpful, as are all the locals. Great location to explore the whole island and all it's beautiful little coves, towns & villages, restaurants, coast and countryside.
We can certainly recommend it and hope to return again!
We had a feeling that you liked it a lot! We are so pleased that you enjoyed yourselves so much, and it was such a pleasure to have you. We really do hope to see you again before too long!
Phantastic place in croatia
Our Holiday in Pitve was one of our most kindest and impressiv stay that we ever had. Susan and Andy were wonderful hosts. The house is situeted in a wonderful old village which has preserved his original character. A dreamlike beach is reachable around ten minutes by car. So we must recommand this house for everyone who is considering to rent it.
Quaint rooms in a small village
Hvar Island is a great place to sample the slow pace of Mediterranean life. The apartment is based just above Jelsa Port, an easy 30 minute walk but be cautious of traffic. The house is newly renovated and quite cozy. Andy and Susan, your hosts, are very helpful with recommendations regarding the island. There is one local restaurant in the village that must be tried, too.
We had a great holiday in this lovely quiet village and beautifully restored little house. The owners, Andy & Susan, were very helpful and provided everything we needed. It's an ideal base to explore the countryside, coves, villages and towns - then come back and chillax. The local restaurant is excellent and friendly. We'd recommend it and hope to be going back sometime soon.
Exquisite Croatian Holiday
Fabulous Croatian holiday in The Architect's House. Offers modern conveniences with old world charm. Breathtaking views of lavender fields. The village is quaint with friendly residents and konobas. Hosts, Susan & Andy are kind and knowledgeable about the area.
Can't wait to return soon.
Tastefully renovated and well-equipped stone house
This property lived up to all expectations and we would happily recommend it to friends and family. The property is situated in a delightful village and is well equipped and well maintained. We especially enjoyed the outdoor dining and sitting space and the quiet atmosphere. The owners provided good service and information about activities and restaurants in the area and the property is beautifully presented with an eye for detail.
Medieval village of Pitve…
Pitve is believed to be the most ancient village on the island of Hvar, established long before Greek island settlement in 384 BC. Hidden on a mountainside and overlooking the sea, it is just as ideally-located now as it was in ancient times! Nowadays, the cosmopolitan residents enjoy their close proximity to the sea as well as their retreat in the relaxing privacy of Pitve!
Dining in Pitve and nearby…
Nothing could be more romantic than dining al fresco amidst the flowers on the lovely terrace of the Dvor Duboković restaurant. With breath-taking sea views, and renowned cuisine, it attracts diners from all over the island of Hvar. On special evenings, you may be lucky enough to dine whilst enjoying the enchanting music of "Klapa Bagulin". Or, enjoy lunch or dinner at one of the many wonderful restaurants and bars in the nearby port of Jelsa – just a stroll down through the vineyards, or a short drive away!
Parking and car hire...
As the village is closed to traffic, there is parking on the piazza, about 100 metres from the Architect's House. Cars and scooters (and bicycles) can be hired locally in Jelsa, Stari Grad or Hvar Town.
"The Mediterranean as it used to be", is the tourist slogan for Croatia, and it is indeed an untouched paradise. Say goodbye to crowded beaches and cold seas, and find your own secluded cove to spend your day swimming in warm turquoise waters. The rocky coastline gives way to shallow and safe beaches, all with a perfectly smooth sandy seafloor. If you're feeling energetic, you might try a bit of snorkelling, or if you're feeling lazy, just float on your air mattress and look down - the sea is so crystal clear you can see the colourful fish below! We can provide lot's of tips on must-see places and things to do.
Although Hvar is a perfect place to relax, it is also a great place for outdoor activities. In addition to the spending a day at the spectacular beaches, you might also enjoy renting a boat to explore secluded coves. Or you could rent a cycle, or a scooter or an open-roofed car to experience the panoramic views from the peak of the island. Not to forget spectacular hiking, tennis, "submarine" excursions, archeological sites, rock climbing, or even taking an outdoor art course!
