THE WING – was originally built as a cow-shed but was converted in 1911 to make a drawing room and library for the main house. It is very hard to do justice to it in a written description. Normally it takes people quite by surprise when they arrive ‘sight unseen’. To give an impression it covers a VERY LARGE area, the walls being pale yellow, the floors polished parquet and the ceilings domed. The whole effect is very striking with mahogany doors and an elegant fireplace. Families consisting of a married couple and three children have found the space more than adequate. The drawback is that the rooms are inter-connecting and therefore not suited to all holiday makers. The passage that used to connect these rooms to the main house has been converted into a kitchen, bathroom and WC. This has the advantage of eliminating any noise coming from the main house. The living area and garden will be a quiet and peaceful place to stay.
