Pennant was originally a small stone cottage - One of the first houses in the village dating back over 200 years. It was extended in the middle of last century then neglected up until i bought it as my home in December of 2014. Since then i have completely renovated and updated it to be a beautiful luxurious family home. This will be the first season the house will be rented out to guests for a few weeks during Easter and the Summer holidays.
Downstairs there is a good size kitchen with hi spec appliances and everything you need to cook if you are not tempted by the local pubs and restaurants Several within walking distance). Leading off the kitchen there is the original entrance hall which gives you access to the front lane and footpath which leads across to Llanbedrog headland, or down to the beach with the fabulous beach restaurant "Aqua" which is a 5 to 10 minutes walk away.
Next to the kitchen is a hallway and staircase leading upstairs. There are 3 good size bedrooms. Two of these are doubles and the third is a twin room ideal for children. This room has a cabin bed made up of a full size single on top with a futon down below. This can fold up to make a cool sitting area for the occupants of this room The bathroom, although compact has a fantastic slipper bath and walk in shower, There is also a downstairs loo off the kitchen.
The lounge is a spacious light filled room with a bay window which allows the morning sun to shine in and a large bi-fold door on the south side opening onto the sheltered back garden. The garden has a small paved patio area just outside the doors and a magnolia tree for a natural sunshade. The garden gates can be closed to keep small ones from wandering, however there is no passing vehicular traffic anyway so it is very secure for children.
The house is well insulated and has gas fired central heating throughout and a woodburning stove in the lounge, so if the summer weather does take a turn for the worse it can still be cosy inside.
Parking - The cottage is tucked away at the end of a private lane among a group of typical welsh stone houses and cottages. The downside of this is that access has to be treated with care for everyone to live in harmony.
There is ample private parking for 2 cars and a boat trailer. However a little bit of manoeuvring is required to get in and out depending on the size of your car. ( As an example my VW Transporter Van goes in and out easily)
This area is at the rear of the house with a path through the garden to the lounge door, or you can walk around to the front door. There is pedestrian access only to the front of the house.
The village playing fields are just a few steps away. there is a small playpark with swings, slide climbing frames etc. There are a couple of skate ramps - enough to keep the kids out from under your feet while you get ready for a busy day on the beach.
There is high speed fibre Wifi broadband throughout the house.
Music is catered for by a Sonos speaker system throughout the house. Just download the app to your phone or tablet and play your own music files or connect to hundreds of internet radio stations including all the BBC stations.
There is a 60” 4K smart TV in the lounge with access to music and films.
Llanbedrog beach is owned by the National Trust and is a beautiful, safe, sheltered place to spend the day. There is a beach cafe at the entrance to the beach and for the restless or adventurous the steep climb to the iron man provides one of the best views on the Peninsula on clear day.
There are 2 pubs within walking distance of the Cottage - The ship at the top of the village and The Glyn Y Weddw on the way to the beach. Both are very family friendly, have great food and play areas for the kids to work off more holiday energy.
Abersoch is 2.5 miles away. A bustling village with upmarket fashion and surf shops galore. Plus a choice of fab cafes and restaurants.
Pwllheli is 4 miles away, the local market town. A thriving welsh community with supermarkets and local shopping. There is an excellent market here every Wednesday. It is also home to the Welsh sailing academy and bustling marina.
The cottage will be available for weekly bookings only from Eaater
One final thing, If you are looking for a house to party till dawn this is probably not the place for you. But if you want somewhere out of the madness of Abersoch in a beautiful sheltered spot and welsh village community spirit this fits the bill.
