About Pam Marsden

Hi I'm Maggi and have owned An Diank Meur for 20 years, during which time it has become a beloved part of our family. Although my husband and I currently live in Hampshire, we still look forward to visiting our 'little piece of Cornwall' whenever time allows and never tire of Porthleven, its picture book location and stunning coastal scenery. In fact we have always planned to retire to the cottage - that is until our beautiful grandson was born 2 years ago and we realised we couldn't bear to live so far away from him. However, our son and daughter love 'An Diank Meur' and Porthleven as much as we do, so it is a real home-from-home for all the family. We hope you will love it too.

Pam Marsden purchased this cottage in 1996

Why Pam Marsden chose Lizard Peninsula

I used to holiday in this area every year when my son and daughter were children and so when I was looking for a holiday home - only Porthleven would do! As soon as I saw my little cottage I fell in love with its gorgeous cosy interior and uniquely authentic Cornish location. That's why we called it 'An Diank Meur' (Cornish for The Great Escape) As soon as you set foot through the door you escape the 'real-world' and relaaaax.

A charming and quirky little fisherman cottage, everything you could wish for.

  • 5 of 5

Lovely little house, suited 2 adults and 2 children, we had some concerns about bringing our own stair gate as we were told the stairs are very steep. They are indeed steep, however our 2 year old found them to be a great source of fun and entertainment. We had a fantastic week, the cottage is situated near enough for a stroll to the harbour but not so near that you struggled to get your car through the crowds of visitors.Parking wasn't a problem, the roads are obviously narrow and respect for others is gratefully received from other holiday home owners and residents.Porthleven was a haven for us, we had beautiful weather and fell in love with the place. As a family we were so pleased with having a washing machine and tumble dryer on hand, a must with children.Everything you could wish for, we will definitely be back. It's important to remember these are very compact little cottages but this, compared with our friends that stayed a few doors away is very well utilized and maximum space has been well used

Lovely little cottage with all you need

  • 4 of 5

We thought this cottage was lovely. It is located just a short walk from Porthleven harbour with its shops, restaurants and pubs etc. The cottage is well equipped with all that we needed really. The double room off the lounge is a little small but we managed ok and I simply couldn't light the wood burner as much as I tried! Apart from that, it was a lovely welcoming break in the heart of a beautiful town.

Very clean and comfortable.

  • 4 of 5

Lovely house. Really clean and had everything you could possibly need. Very short walk to the town in a quiet road. The town had everything you would need for your stay. Didn't have to go out in the car at all.

Housekeeper Rachael couldn't have been more helpful.

The stairs down to the kitchen were quite tricky especially as one of us had a leg in plaster.

Porthleven
Car: recommended

Porthleven is a historic fishing port located to the west of the The Lizard Peninsula in Cornwall. Porthleven has the distinction of being the most southerly working port in mainland Britain - located on the edge of Mount's Bay, between the Lizard Peninsula and Marazion (St Michael's Mount). The town and harbour, have maintained much of their original charm and character, (through the use of strict conservation and planning control) and attracts large numbers of tourists each year. Many love to come in the winter too, for the spectacular seas and storm-watching.

Porthleven's picture book location and stunning coastal scenery of the area makes this an ideal destination for family holidays and vacations to the West Country - surrounded by spectacular beaches and has easy access to a wealth of local holiday attractions, including St Michael's Mount and The Flambards Adventure Park.

Much of the coastline around the town is designated a Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty or is in the stewardship of the National Trust. This character port of Porthleven itself is a vibrant fishing village and arranged around its impressive harbour front are restaurants, cafes, pubs, galleries and shops.
